Green & Glorious & I want it

After 95 prayer, I want to set my eyes on the divine spirit shield. For this I need:

  • A blessed spirit shield
  • 90 prayer
  • 85 smithing
  • A divine sigil

I have the first two, I know how to get the third, but the fourth is a lot harder. I want to get on a corp team, as it seems more fun than general moneymaking + merching (the learning curve of merching is as bad as that of corping, I think). Troubles of low stats/no overloads aside (I'm working on overloads), where do I find a half-decent team (that's all I dare hope for with 84 melees)?

Also out of curiosity, is a swh ever efficient? I was thinking I might be able to slighty compensate for lower stats with a stronger spec. But if people commonly use them anyway, that's a bit useless.

Please don't tell me this won't work, I know, but I want this anyway.

don't bother with corp without turmoil and overloads and 99 attack/strength. with low stats you will not get into teams of a reasonable size (30 man masses will not get you a sigil at any decent rate).

don't bother with SWH unless you are solo or duoing.

to be honest if you don't boss hunt i don't know why you want a divine.

I will bother anyway (and I have turmoil, so that's a third of the way, right?). Can I read this as: you'll need to start a team yourself and you won't profit? Also, SWH worsens that, I suppose?

I'm not entirely sure why I want a divine myself, but it's certainly not something I need as such. It's something I'd be happy to use, however. And it looks great with a farming cape, which I also want (later).

with 84 melees you'd be better off sniping it.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

Hmmm well I'm glad I'm at least trying something stupid <_<. The "getting a divine" part is not subject to debate, I'm getting one. I don't care if it takes a while, I got time (well some of it).

with 84 melees you'd be better off sniping it.

Which I wouldn't mind doing, except that that requires some team to coinshare the drop, right? How many people coinshare corp? And how many people try to snipe divine every GE update? Plus that I'd need a way to make 581m, which is challenging to say the least. It is what I intend doing when/if I get that kind of cash, but that's a lot of tormented demons/farm runs.

Could someone maybe answer the original question now, that is, where do I find corp teams? The SWH question has been answered I think.

You more or less need to be maxed melee with overloads for corping. 84 melees might get you into the lowest of bottomfeeders cs mass, but certainly not a half decent team.

Corping specifically for a divine sigil really isn't a great idea unless it's your extremely-long-term goal, as in you want to own it in a year or two, and by then you'd be better having made the money for it and buy it from the ge(at which time, it will likely have crashed). No matter which route you take, you will soon after be disappointing by the usefulness(or the lack thereof) of it- unless you have the luxury of having it(1,5+ times maxed cash) you shouldn't even consider getting it.

So you're saying it's better to make money for two years, and by that time it'll be buyable on the GE? If that's as fast as corping, then yeah... I'm still going corp for fun though. Actually a pity it's faster not to corp :(.

The most important thing should be to raise your melee stats. At this point with overloads you are at the same level as a maxed person is with super pots, maybe even lower. This means it would be very difficult for you to find a good corping team.

The things a divine is best used for anyways for anyways, solo monster hunting, require higher combat stats to be good at anyways. Everyone would like to own a divine, however not everyone is able to use one enough to warrant putting in the time required to get one.

The thing about these elite buyables such as turmoil, overloads and even a divine is that they are awesome supplements. This means that though they are amazing when one is maxed, if one is not maxed, their use is much diminished.

So what I suggest is that you make money while maxing out your combat, and then see where you stand. If you still don't have enough to snipe what you want and it hasn't crashed, you can use your new stats to join a pro corping team.

PS, I'm not telling you it won't work, just that it might not be the best option.

PM me in game anytime

It's a lot easier then that for an idiot to sound smart on the internet.

That's exactly what you're doing right now... just saying.

Divine is a rare drop, so ofcource it's faster to make money in other ways. 540m would only take me around 135 hours to make, 2 weeks with 10h days, but you could solo corp for years without any luck with divine sigil. If you really plan on doing corp then you should first max out melee and get overloads and then get into some ~6 man corp team(there is a good guide on the general guides). Soloing is also a possibility but you'd need to be great at combat for it to work well(at around ~6 corp an hour).

lol divine will continue to be almost unbuyable if only maxed players kill corp. Anybody that says you NEED maxed melees, turmoil, ovl needs to get their head checked.

Good luck holding an LS world with a 6man team of 110combats.

You don't need to be maxed combat, but it'd be inefficient not to be maxed as it cuts the number of hourly kills considerably, overloads are a must because they allow you to carry ~3 times more food with you. The main reason, however, why you need to be maxed is that the other people that kill corp are all maxed, and as anyone can see from dungeoneering, maxed people don't want to team with random low(<130) levels.

Trust me when I say you'll make 600m in half the time it takes to ls a divine.

Took me 1/4 the time it takes just to miss one

OK, thanks for telling. Isn't missing divine great for lsp :P?

Overloads, check. Also, what of the crashing? That sounds like a price drop (which would be awesome).

It doesn't necessarily mean a price drop, rather that the price will continue it's rise for a ~~ long time and after being too high(~800-1000M) be dumped on the ge(they are more or less bought out, remember) resulting in them being really bad junk for the next ~year after that.
