Undo
I used to be a hardcore fan of TAPS. But following that stale-famed team's show, Josh Gates & his team have become my heroes pushing through an ongoing journey investigating MORE than just paranormal on Destination Truth & having episodes full of more than a group of seven people saying "OH EM GEE GUIZ ITZ COLD IN HEAR IT MUST BE A GHOST MI'RITE!?" & "DID U GUYS C THAT SHADOW FROM THAT CAR GO BY THE WINDOW!? THAT'S GOTTA BE A GHOST!" or "DO U GUYS FEEL LIKE SOMETHINGS WATCHING US!?!? LETS TURN OFF THIS FAN! CUZ ITS GOTTA BE THE FAN DOIN THAT!" Josh Gates puts his & his team lives on the line in almost every episode. & When they DO frequently do a paranormal investigation in their team, they make sure the evidence was worth tuning in for.A couple chairs falling cause a cat knocked it over convincing the audience it was a ghost is exactly why GH is becoming too farfetch'd to believe. Don't get me wrong, I STRONGLY believe in the paranormal. But when TAPS takes it more out of proportion than it already is, it makes those who question the paranormal stay questioning. So, why am I crying about this?Well, I think DT needs to replace GH's time OR have another repeat episode of DT replace it. Or possibly even considering giving Beast Legends the spot - God knows it needs some viewers. & Off Topic a little while on the subject of the new SyFY show Beast Legends; imo, it SUCKS. Why?I was expecting it to be exactly like DT based upon it's previews. False advertising, go figure.I dunno' about you, but I think Beast Legends needs to be on the Discovery Channel following 'How It's Made'. Because frankly, the only time I'm gunna' want to know how to make a dragon is if I become a graphical designer & follow their processes in what they did, and we all know how many of those are out there - Not many. The above are opinions & facts. Picking out which is which is up to you. tl;dr version:Send Ghost Hunters to CartoonNetwork. 1. "My ear's in a cup, I guess that doesn't count..."2. "So heyyy, that's a pretty reasonable reaction huh?"3. "So you up for NAFTA?"4. "That went exactly how I wanted it to."

ForsakenMage
I don't have cable, but I do watch Ghost Hunters (and GHI) and Destination Truth on Hulu. There was actually an exposee video on GH where a former team member showed how some of the evidence was actually falsified, and how some of their actions were rather strange (example: Grant was standing around with the EVP recorder, and after hearing something, rewinds, but takes FOREVER to find it for some reason ). Another thing that bugs me about GH is that it feels too rehearsed for some reason. Destination Truth on the other hand has you guessing. And why the heck is their equipment so much better than GH's? o_O You'd think that after using a helmet camera, GH would try the over the shoulder camera instead, but nope... They stopped using that vantage point completely. The thing I like about DT is that it's so spontaneous, not to mention it kind of gives you a nice quick view of the environment they're in. GH just kind of expects the tour to tell it all, but it sounds so boring and documentary like. There's like no interaction with the environment whatsoever. To be honest, I think after Steve and Tango went to do Ghost Hunters Academy, it went downhill majorly from there. Kimberly
Ghost Hunters has hit the perils of their popularity. Earlier episodes, with little notoriety and good earnest work, have always been what I strive to do. The professionalism they displayed back then and healthy dose of skeptisicm was unmatched with any tv show on today--and if that Destination Truth show was anything like the pilot I watched for it, then yes even them. It was right when paranormal shows were picking up and they spread a great amount of awareness. Now, I agree with you, they're terrible. I still watch because I am always curious but I pay little if any attention to the bulk of their investigators. Auto pilot sets in after they talk with the owners and start investigating because, it's like you said, they're jumping at every little creak and dust speck. Their head tech guy is a tool bag, the girl investigators (and I'm not trying to be sexist here) are terrible vapid wenches, and Jason's always had his shiny bald head up his rear since day one. They're almost as bad as watching Ghost Adventures...almost. But really, I mean look at this guy. You can't be more of a tool if you tried: I still lol that when they see a shadow they always piss their pants. Reality TV? Ugh, I'm getting sick of that stuff. Ghosts, truck drivers, construction sites, same thing. It wasn't always the same thing. There are actually some good shows about the paranormal out there. GH is just no longer one of them, sadly. Well, like you said, if it was rehearsed, it was probably doctored to an extent as well. It's not that GH seems rehearsed, it just seems stupid when you see a cameraman filming behind a closed door in a dark room then shortly after a couple team members coming in through the door acting so scared & blah blah blah. It's human nature to be alert in a dark area, yea, but you get my point - Camera shots seem a little fishy. DT does keep you guessing, which is why I love it. Unlike a new episode of GH I watch, I can pretty much lip-sync what they're about to say next...& Yes, DT DOES have better/more equipment, probably seeing as Josh Gates is a wealthy man. You should research him!As well as GH, that you've pointed out, DT does sadly share the fishy camera shots with GH. However, atleast DT's are more believable. Steve & Tango left? GHA?Wow. How many GH are there now?Guess they're doing the whole CSI trilogy thing... Steve should just give up on GH altogether tbh. You can't go hunting for ghosts in abandoned castles looking for ghosts when you're scared of the smallest spider & not look like a puss.Tango just needs to remove his earings... 1. Dizzle229
I liked GH better in the first few seasons, when everything they did was totally honest. They don't charge the people they investigate, so they pretty much HAVE to show "Syfy" SOMETHING or they lose their main source of income. I haven't seen Destination Truth, and Ghost Adventures is at least good for a laugh. GH has some good moments now and then these days, but not worth an hour a week. I agree. The newer episodes seem like TAPS put too-much-effort into them - For reasons stated in my previous reply in response to <Username>. Yes, the conclusion parts of GH are where the people tuning in goes from 1,000 - 50,000; most likely.& Are you kidding me!?Chris is so pretty, ha! xPAlthough she has a kid, but still... Even though she's pretty, I suppose she still can be somewhat a [bleep]. Same with the redhead.Anyways, that's completely OT! & Whenever they do see something, they try to debunk it in the most unlikely method you've ever think of.... My example, for example:They felt paranoia, so they figured it was from an electronic device. Believable? Of course.Could the fan of gave off that sensation? I suppose...Does turning the fan off mean there's nothing left in the house to call it quits & move onto the next location? No... 1. "My ear's in a cup, I guess that doesn't count..."2. ForsakenMage
Even though GH lacks the funding that DT has, you'd think they would've STUCK with improving the helmet camera a bit, instead of drop it all together though. And yea, Ghost Hunters Academy, where people compete to become the newest member of the Ghost Hunters team (they follow GHI around though). Pretty much is another GH with a bunch of newbies running around going, "OMGOMG IS DAT A GHOST?!" To be honest, I liked Steve and Tango because they provided the spontaneity that the show now lacks. So who cares if Steve hates spiders? At least he does go into those dark places instead of going, "OMG THIS PLACE IS SOOO DARK AND DIRTY! THERE'S GOTTA BE A MILLION SPIDERS! I NO GO DAR K?!" As for Tango, meh, he provides some humor, but other than that yea... The show's just gotten bleh. One thing that does get me sometimes about DT is the FLIR shots. I mean yea, abnormal shapes and whatnot, but they get those at almost every investigation they've done as far as I can remember, it makes me a bit suspicious. GH on the other hand hardly has anything on thermal. (I do remember this impressive one where while Jason's walking outside, this lady on a bonnet shows up on the FLIR crossing right past in front of them, but he claimed there was no one there. Would've been more awesome if they had a camera from behind him looking ahead to confirm it's not a person that had literally walked by though...) Pure luck on DT's part? Dunno. o_O Adventurer's Log || YouTube || Facebook || Tip.it Times Work || Wanna Join the Editorial Panel?Maxed Out 01 October 2012 PDT

Dunno. o_O I don't remember the DT team ever using the HelmCam other than for underwater/cave explorations though which occured ever so far in between. I'd rather ask TAPS themselves to join the team rather than humiliate myself surrounded by a bunch of 8th/9th graders showing off how cool they are by wanting to camp in a room alone. I didn't mean to come off by saying I don't like either of the two. Because I'm sure their humor is what made the show less serious than what it already wasn't... Omg. I love thermal shots! Those are the only evidence that I can come close to believing. That GH episode doesn't ring a bell, however I'm sure I've seen it. The only thermal I remember that was impressive on GH was the Lighthouse visit - Number TWO. Their FIRST visit wasn't as impressive. On DT however, catching multiple floating objects such distance away & having one right next to you all on the same episode seems even neater to me. On that same episode too (The Doll Island one), the Doll's eyes blinked. As ridiculous as that sounds, it was extremely fascinating to watch. I'd love to see TAPS debunk that! 1. Diesel
I'm not gonna lie, I was a hardcore fan of both Ghost Hunters and Ghost Adventures for the longest time. I enjoyed Ghost Hunters because they were the first ghost series that I had ever watched, although they never do seem to find anything particularly WOW-worthy. The last big thing was the shadow at the prison? Also, I liked how they were seemingly normal guys doing what they loved as a hobby. They had the little trailer as their HQ and still worked their day jobs. It was relatable. Ghost adventures on the other hand was enjoyable because of the amount of things that they "found" (scratches/bricks flying across rooms/shadows). I will be the first to admit that where GA's main investigator acts all hard-ass, but then freaks out at the slightest hint that something is happening. Along with the cameraman saying "DUDE!" every few minutes, I found the show to be almost a refreshing breath of air compared to GH, albeit a bit (a lot) cheesy. I usually watch the majority, if not all, of the live investigating shows just to see if anything happens. I agree wholeheartedly that the past season or two of GH has become very boring, and the spin-offs like GHI and GHA are not the same as the original. Cancel them both and bring back the original GH that I loved. (I keep wanting to type/think Guitar Hero with the GH abbreviation...) Kimberly
Even though GH lacks the funding that DT has, you'd think they would've STUCK with improving the helmet camera a bit, instead of drop it all together though. The helmet camera is nice, but it would be better if they just remembered to turn the camera in the direction they're looking. Helmet cameras are jerky with movement and honestly, disorienting for me. And with all that bouncing around, to me, it feels easier to fake things. Abandoning it actually makes me happy. And yea, Ghost Hunters Academy, where people compete to become the newest member of the Ghost Hunters team (they follow GHI around though). Pretty much is another GH with a bunch of newbies running around going, "OMGOMG IS DAT A GHOST?!" It could've been great, but Steve is an absolute jackass. He can't teach. He's arrogant. He's...ugh. Don't ever believe him when he says he's not afraid of ghosts. He's afraid of everything and he covers for it with false bravado. And the people they choose are characters, not genuine people. Sure, there's some people who actually want to be there. I entered my Dad in to be chosen, but he wasn't picked...probably because he's actually serious about it and he's a bit older. One thing that does get me sometimes about DT is the FLIR shots. ... Pure luck on DT's part? Dunno. o_O The problem with thermals is that yeah, while they are great investigative tools, damn near everything reflects light and heat. You have to really analyze what 'hits' you get.
