smithing

Yeah cook and fletch are hands down the fastest, with the right funding you can easily do 1 - 99 in about a week.

But due to this they are also not highly rated by most.

Using realistic methods? Herb/prayer/con/fletch(addy bolts/broad arrows).

For cheap capes with relatively fast exp rates: cook/fletch(whatever, mage longs?)/fm/thieving. Cooking is the least intensive of the four.

Edit: smithing cannonballs is a pretty terrible way to hit 99

hello,

I am going to go from 35-99 only doing cannon balls, this will give me about 160m cash and take about 140hours doing 18 runs an hour.

i want it to be trimmed coz it looks better so which cape is fastest to 99?

I'm sorry, but your calculations are a little off:

140 hrs x 18 runs/hr = 2520 runs

2520 runs x 27 bars/invent x 25.6 xp/bar ~= 1.7 M xp. The total xp for 99 is just over 13 M. Your start point of level 35 is like 25k xp, which is a drop in the bucket.

After crunching some numbers with the help of the Tip.it Smithing calc, you actually need to do ~18810 runs, or smith cannonballs for 1045 hours

Consider an alternate method at some part along the way.

or have something to do between the time from smithing cannonballs to the end of smithing them

Yes but still, it would take months to complete your goal, and there are better moneymakers that can compensate for the money lost when speeding up the process a bit. But your go.

My lame drops:
6 Effigys
1 D Med - 1 D Dagger
1 Verac's Helmet - 1 Guthan's Platebody

Pretty much the only time you want to smith cannonballs is if you want to have the game running while you are doing something else like watching a TV show or a movie. I'm pretty sure you can make better money and get slightly more smithing xp/hr running the blast furnace doing mithril bars and at the very least superheating steel/iron/gold is many times faster. The time saved is then used to do something more profitable, like killing green drags. Green drags can hit 1m+ an hour if done properly

But thats efficient guys.... Remember people are tired of all the efficient answers so give him bad advice and let him do cannonballs for the rest of his life. :shame:

To be honest, even if he wanted to, he'd burn out very shortly.

Remember, you're only level 35. That's nowhere even close to being close to 99. Take your time. Enjoy the game.
