I'd love to give this a try, cept in my town there's no smooth roads at all. POTHOLES AS FAR AS THE EYES CAN SEE.

Or the pavements have smashed bottles all over them :|

You're in Brisbane now aren't you? There's heaps of good roads in Yeronga/Fairfield, come hit them up

Yep, arrived today! It's pretty sweet, I've done about 3 hours of skating today, I need that practice cos I'm pretty bad. The longest ride I went for was like a 10km round trip, I went to my work and back to see what it would be like, save me driving. It's not too far, I might do it when I finish work at 9pm or earlier, cos it's still light til then.

I'd imagine so.

I was fortunate to be able to practice with parking garages which worked out well when I was first getting used to my board. If I felt I was going to fast to control, I could simply pull off my line and ride off on a flat area or up a ramp to slow down before proceeding down another level. Worked out well when I was first starting off.

My area is pretty quite atm, I've been going in the evenings and the roads are really quiet. I went out for a jam before, my body is still really sore, I was getting foot and calf cramps. Might have to give it a rest tomorrow.

Yikes! Hopefully by now it's healed up.

Going home for winter break, which means some serious boarding (given there isn't any snow on the ground). I'll probably invest in some new wheels and bearings. The stock bearings and wheels are pretty bad at this point, but I don't want to buy top tier wheels like O-Tangs for my pintail when I'm saving up to buy a whole new deck.

I went home work Thanksgiving break and got to do a little bit of dancing. I was rusty, though, but I got it in the end.

I've been carving the local hills in my area, getting used to standup slides on Big Zigs. Admittedly not the best sliding wheels, they just grip like a motherfuker. Awesome for carving though. I'm building up to 10km casual rides now. I'm loving my Kracked Skulls board though, thinking I might invest in some new bearings. Got them a bit wet the other day, when I had to board in the light rain.

Mostly, the boarding has been sweet as, and i'm looking forward to much of summer.

I don't know if a pintail as long as mine will be good for trying to learn to slide on. I'm waiting until I get a new deck to start sliding practice (which will probably be in the summer). Else I'd be trying it out right now.

I definitely with you on the casual rides. Longboarding is just so fun that I end up riding 12 mile round trips. I don't even care how tired I am because I'm just enjoying every second of it. And eventually, I get used to it and am not exhausted at all after 10 or so miles.

Just realized I left my tool at college. Now I'll have to try and use a wrench or something to try and take my board apart and clean it. :\

The roads round here aren;t too good for skating. I drove out to a new subdivision today with my brother and went for a skate. We also went down some of the back roads round here, not that smooth but there are some long downhill stretches that go for a few kms.

I haven't tried sliding, it looks pretty tough and I'm pretty shit. Especially at carving and going down steep hills...

OO Greener Pastures 4 is it. It is a beautiful skating series. I've started getting into longer and harder stand up slides, perfect for my board.

But unfortunately, i've [bleep]e dmy bearings. I was forced to ride out in the rain, and now they are going seriously slow.

Just went to the longboard store near my house. Bought myself a pair of the shop's custom 80a wheels. Also bought some new Bones Reds bearings. My mom wants to wrap them so I can open them up for Christmas, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to try them out. It'll be good to have some decent wheels and bearings instead of the crap stock ones.

The board shop also had some nice drop through decks for really cheap ($60 and $70). They were shorter boards, but I might look into buying one of them and just transferring my gullwings onto them. I'll keep my pintail though, just in case I want to hang it up in my house or use it later.

So this is longboarding. It looks quite cool, if not a little pointless as far as fitness is concerned (for most people) - it doesn't seem like it'd be quite as exerting or all round as, say, rugby, swimming, etc.

Pushing is an effort with this biting cold weather I'm experiencing.

Getting wheel bite now that I changed how tight my trucks are. Wheel bite usually indicates trucks that are too loose (actually, I do have a pintail, which is a huge factor). But I can't turn on a dime like I could before I changed the wheels and bushings. I think it's because my bushings are harder and less broken-in than my old bushings, which makes it so that my trucks aren't as flexible even though the screw is rather loose.

Later this week I'm going to look to get a free riding board. I want my trucks really loose without having to deal with wheel bite.

That's my board! :o

Many believe that the 1980 eruption of Mt. Saint Helens was a catostrophic geological event, in reality it was the day that Jimi Hendrix returned to Earth from the next world and actually stood up next to a mountain and chopped it down with the edge of his hand.
