Simple question, simple answer.

Would fishing for 200 hours (and this is the fishing, not the external stimuli like watching movies/tv/forums at the same time), be fun to you?

Stupid question, in my humble opinion. It wouldn't be fun to anyone, unless they are antisocial or have any damage to their brain.

My lame drops:

1 D Med - 1 D Dagger
1 Verac's Helmet - 1 Guthan's Platebody

Yea i thought it was a stupid question myself, but im doing it cause Obtaurian keeps hassling me...

Prove that training any skill for 200 hours isn't fun.

So neither of you can prove, with facts and statistics, that not a single player finds any particular skill (you can choose any of them, doesn't matter to me) fun?

Where, in either of those quotes, did I mention fishing? Furthermore, I'm afraid that the population of TIF does not constitute a mass consensus of what is or is not fun. Finally, asking if fishing is fun is the wrong question. Your poll is entirely pointless, and is more of an immature attempt to insult me than anything else.

Looks like your wrong.
Some people do enjoy it.
Not hard to imagine though since its a popular hobby in real life.
Some of those professional sport fishers look like they rake in dough by judging from their fancy boats.

There's no need to have a poll for just this yes/no.

And without forums or tv: No, I would not. Perhaps when they release virtual reality helmets.

Seeing how Runescape has been out for 10 years, people have had plenty of time to reach higher levels in skills over time. Why can't Jagex give long time players a quest which is doable? It is not Jagex's fault that the players wanted quests with higher skill requirements which the players do not think of the the time it takes to reach those skill levels. Be careful what you ask for.

I fished longer, fun is subjective considering all gatherer skills follow the same basis. And reaching milestones is the reason I play so 99 fishing was a given.

Without external stimuli very little on RS is fun, lol. I'd prefer 200 hours of fishing to nothing at all. Also it's great to chat with friends while fishing.

I piety the fool.

You said any skill, fishing is a skill.

I'm afraid that the population of TIF does not constitute a mass consensus of what is or is not fun. Finally, asking if fishing is fun is the wrong question. Your poll is entirely pointless, and is more of an immature attempt to insult me than anything else.

Really your just not happy with anything.

I'm asking if fishing is fun, that IS the right question.

Ok then, even if the majority liked fishing for 200 hours, would this actually improve the game in any way?

If people liked fishing there is no reason they can't train fishing and have fun, quest requirement or no. A quest requirement in the 97's doesnt improve there fun in any way as opposed to a requirement in the 60's.

On the other hand, those that don't like fishing have a 200 hour grind until they can actually get to the fun content, which for them, is anything but fun.

Why not? Its an easy way to gather results.

Some people may not wish to vote yes or no in a public thread for fear of being ridiculed, some people simply might not even bother to post. A poll on the other hand is very easy to do.

Looks like your wrong.
Some people do enjoy it.
Not hard to imagine though since its a popular hobby in real life.

Wait, did i just hear that?

Did you seriously just compare fishing in runescape to real life, have you even fished in real life? Its completely different from fishing in runescape.

Gota say this. Obt actually never said that training any skill for 200 hours was/wasn't fun. Rather, he asked you to prove (Scientifically) that it is/isn't. One can assume that, for most people, without external stimuli (books, movies, skype, etc) it would be boring. But assumptions aren't what real math, or science, is based on. That is, unless formulating a hypotheses, which is partially an assumption currently lacking proof.

The argument made by the OP reminds me exactly of a "Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy"type of fallacy.

Some may find it fun, most would probably find it boring. The point is rather that you can't prove "fun", scientifically, or say what others enjoy.

See, it is easy to challenge one's stance if you chose a similar, but different viewpoint to attack. That is known as a straw man.

Personally, I'd say Obt is mentally challenged (more so then he is already since he lives in Cali... <3: ) if he DID enjoy training fishing for 200 hours, with nothing else to keep him occupied.

But then again, that isn't, and wasn't the point of his statement.

Now, I think THIS poll has merit, in and of itself, although the outcome is probably quite easy to predict. However, basing it on a fallacy is quite an easy way to skew the results.

OT: Hell No, fishing is boring.

And fishing in RS is probably more exciting, you catch more...lol

Thanks Stonewall. <3:

As for the question, I currently have no reason to fish for 200 hours, but I do find fishing to be a relaxing skill (but only barbarian fishing at my level). I love to fish IRL, so fishing in Runescape has always had a certain appeal. Combat, however, is much more fun, so that's what I do.

I'm currently running around ape atoll over and over so I can get a good level. Do I find it exciting and intriguing? No!, but getting the level brings joy to my inner being somehow.

Which in the end is really just nitpicking because he ran out of arguments. I don't see the point your trying to make here.

Its like randomly asking him to prove that the majority of people find 200 hours of fishing fun and claiming victory if he cannot prove it, its borderline relevant to the topic at hand, its very hard if not impossible to prove, but at the end of the day its really just nitpicking while adding nothing to the actual argument.

Basically "omg you can't prove fishing is boring lol i win now" *Sticks fingers in ears and whistles loudly to self*

Yeah you're totally right. I freaking hate agility so I guess I should just quit now and forget doing that elite fremmy diary that requires 85. Thats many hours of grinding and seriously who the hell likes agility? Majority of runescape hates running in circles so I don't see many people getting those fancy boots.
