Faust, incoming transportations trigger alerts, and there's no way a transporter could be used to place EMPs and resonators on the ship's hull (shields and such you know).

Also in the future, weapons can be added allowing strikes to more critical, hidden areas otherwise nigh impossible to hit.

 

Disorientation is not an issue, unless you manage to lose conciousness and you're abandoned, there's nothing to cause the blur, the stars will barely seem to move, and objects are rare.

 

And of course that's what the grav plating and electromagnets on the boots are there for, if not for it one would simply be slung off when turning downwards.

Yes, jet packs are overdone. I can name quiet a few things that hhave jetpacks: Super Scribblenauts, Jimmy Neutron, Fairly Odd Parents, Star Wars, too many book titles to count, ect.

They're overdone because they're functional though.

Faust, the main ion drive is located on the entire bottom of it, and the formards/directional drive is located in the rear. Simple designs work, don't mind such details though, they are much faster than the shuttles.

Mather, do you know that? How fast are the shuttles, how fast are the hoverboards, and how can a human actually survive travelling at such high speeds without a cockpit? I don't know about space, but on land and possibly in a ship that would just snap your bones.

Faust, Archi told me that it was considerably better than our shuttles at all the standard scores.

And the suit is the cockpit, you just gotta make sure not to hit anything solid at high speeds and you'll be fine.

A specially designed slim-fit suit, it was however mostly made to allow stealth and good looks, though it must take quite a beating if it is to allow the wearer to survive in space, which it does (simulated).

Survives in space =/= takes a beating. A single shot from any ship arnament would incinerate it, and you.

As would it any small vessel, but the board is too small to be hit easiley.

And for something soft to be in space with something liquid, gasseous or gelatinous inside it must be tough, else it'd tear.

Icu, it's slightly larger than a skateboard and it flies at supersonic speeds (I guess), hitting that is going to be hard unless it is intended for shooting down missiles at long range.

Lee, you just pick up a gun, fly by someone and shoot them in the head. Or you can just dacapitate people with the edge of the board.

Well, I just thought of an explanation of why the Hoverboard outperforming a shuttle is not neccessarily a good thing:

Compare a motorcycle and a Tank: The Motorcycle out performs the tank on almost all counts (speed, acceleration, turning while moving, fuel efficency, ability to pass through gaps, etc) of being used as a point to point method of transportation, However you would have to be absolutely insane to pick the Motorcycle for use in a Combat zone as the Tank is by far better in several important areas of performance (Having a weapon that is useful against things other than infantry, armor, inertia, turning in place). Unsuprisingly it seems that the Hoverboard and Shuttle are very close analogs to a motorcycle and tank respectively

We have some fairly advanced weapons technology, if you're worried about them being unreliable.

People should follow in my footsteps and use atleast SOME of the sound tech I left behind. That crap seriously was ship wide impairment. If Drake could hack into the system to open all the doors, and some get the device in the ship, it would effect the entire ship.

Ross, I am afraid of guns. A previous set of neighbors had them illegally and even though my dad said i might actually have to learn to shoot one, i still fear them. What's funny is that I can shoot a gun in a videogame
