There are alot of statements.

Or the one about leg size and jazz being increased? Generally it is, but if you are looking specifically for a non-immune responce initiating nanite then 20 is required.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Archi, are the nanites good, at all, in live combat situations?

Right, poison. Which is useless on a large battlefield. They can be easily dealt with by scattering the army, and having armor to block the bullets. Is this all correct, AI?

By next session, I will have some resources to build some mining ships. Do I have permission from Jeremiah to use the Unity's shipyard? I've basically gotten it from Faust and Earth, but I figure it's always safest to get it from the guy in charge.

.. a question, does anyone other than Chi have an objection to me trying to be captain for a session? See how well I do and all that happy stuff?

I'll take the lack of posting as a no, no one cares if I try. But i'll ask in session just to be sure.

For the record, I'm likely to slowly turn into a cyborg over the next few sessions.

Not ANOTHER one....

I'll stay organic and not have the possibility of being completely crippled by an EMP, thankyouverymuch.

And before someone calls me out on it, I think that the raptor-leg-thing Jeremiah made me would work very well as an improvised pegleg.

The use of EMPs is overrated. An organic would easily be crippled if it was unprotected and was shot by a graviton hellbore, just like an unprotected AI would be destroyed with an EMP. AIs are probaly even more resilient.

I'm not sure about cyborgs actually being that super considering some factors...

Like humans, they have extremely complex (perhaps even MORE complex) internal systems.

The internal systems will not be armored, it would be counter productive, thus they can still be harmed

If an internal system failed, then the cyborg/human would fail.

But the one terrible thing about a cyborg, they wouldn't heal.

Humans wear and tear all the time, and we're not even using our bodies the our full potential.

Now consider for one moment, a cyborg, it maybe made of metal, but they're using their bodies more aggressively. I'm pretty sure a cyborg wouldn't give a damn about punching a door down. But if you consider that if, let's say a specific nerve ending in the cybernetic arm broke (as electronics do sadly) it would render that part completely useless.

Now the advantage from being a cyborg is that replacing parts is sooo much easier, but imagine if this happened in the middle of a fight. It could be the difference between you winning or being coverted into space junk.

So yeah, cyborgs are stronger/faster than humans, but they're probably more likely to fail to mundane things.

Also if people are saying that they are healing as cyborgs, than I am now introducing research into human body part replication that can happen at the speed of as fast as they can replicate themselves, reason?

If a complex mix of compounds and metals can be replicated easily, why can't organic materials, both would be similar in structure and design. Heck if we can store entire databases of solar systems on the AI, it surely can store a certain persons DNA, body structure and such. Which is definitely evident because the AI is able to respawn us if we die.

TL:DR

Cyborgs are just superhumans in every aspect except life expectency.

It's a REALLY big shaft.

I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.

how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time?

Humans wear and tear all the time, and we're not even using our bodies the our full potential.

Unless I'm wrong, this is because use of our full potential would cause an absurd amount of damage. Something about muscles liquefying?

The full potential is there for emergencies, rather than the everyday use you'd see in a cyborg. Your parts will probably have to be built to withstand that.

Regenerating damage on our own is kind of cool, though. And when that doesn't work, there are medics.

Cyborgs could probably replace broken parts much more easily, but it'd probably be too costly to fix the little bits of damage you'd accumulate in day to day life until they start to make a big difference. And a big technical error would probably kill you outright.

Hmm... Are we at the point where we can store a person's personality and 'mind' digitally? Backups would probably be a good investment: Cyborg body breaks down, get a new one. If not, could I start researching it?

Digital backups = bad. One of the reasons SUE went insanse.

Moving on, Earth, Mather, neither of you get special privileges right now because neither of you need them. Once designs resources for a reasonably useful Scout are available, Earth will be given access. Mather, I would like you to restate your request, I can't remember what it was.

Nex, actually I do have special privileges, I am one of the three with access to my room, one of the three whi have superior command over what apears to be our strongest robot when it comes to brute force and I am one of two who can access science bays. The only one here with more privileges than me is the actual captain. Your title as acting captain gives you nothing more than the right to give orders, while you don't have the right to enforce them.

... You really don't understand how this ship works do you?

Acting Captain... in this case... means I'm Captain until Jeremiah says "I think I'm ready to deal with all you idiots again."

Also, I can do such lovely and useful things as jettisoning your room, locking your robot in a titanium cupboard, actually creating a Science Bay, and venting Nitrous Oxide throughout the ship... I do not lack the abilities you specified, nor do I lack in the enforcement aspect of the job.

Nex, Jeremiah is resigning as captain, which means your title as acting captain is nothing more than you being highest in comand in the case that he does not apear in the next few sessions. Also, if you become captain I will personally have you sealed inside a lead coffin with the bare minimum of lifesupport, towed behind the ship. And if you were to have my robot sealed inside a cuppboard you would first have to create a cuppord the size of a room, then you will have to reinforce the walls until they are at least twice as strong as the ship's internal walls. Which I dubt will be either cheap or fast, then there's the fact that the same AI which is in control of that robot also has control over nanites, which can pick the lock faster than you could open it with a key. Then you should worry about how you pissed of a robot strong enough to smash your skull onehanded.

This ship works on this prinsiple; people listen to the captains they like and mutiny those they don't (because quite frankly, that was what happened to Nero). The strongest fighter and/or the best thinker controls the ship, though not directly.

Mather, I am Captain until Jeremiah says otherwise. I have no reason to interfere with you any more than he did unless you go on with your threats of incredible stupidity. If you attempt mutiny I will lock you in your room.

Can people stop strutting their peacock feathers and get along, for now? At the moment, the Unity is in a state of semi-repair and still needs rebuilding. Resources are low. There's no time to argue and bicker while there is work to be done.

"Unity though superiour firepower!"

The crew works on the principle that people listen to someone or act on their own accord.

The ship works on the principle that the SI listens to people in hierachy...or you try to stealthy fiddle with consoles.

One of the many things that really needs to be done is work out a ship code or some such, so that there is not so much confusion...since there is alot of overlap between the various people.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Right, so we need a specific code for the Captain (Faust) Chief Engineer (Me) Chief science officer (God forbid, Chi) chief medical (Lee) And chief Tactical (Also Faust.)

Is that what you're saying, or do you want special codes for the captain only?...
