Jack
Seems interesting, we'll have to see it in action before we can make a thorough evaluation of how this will effect warring. Kimberly
The update doesn't say this would specifically affect p2p armour only though...(in response to other posts). No one is saying that it will. Just that the affect on f2p warring will be next to nothing because of how limited F2P combat is in terms of dealing damage. Which means most f2p warrers don't really care, if they've understood the article correctly. From the BTS article: ...with higher grades of equipment offering a greater percentage of 'soak', and with members' equipment offering the greatest percentage of all. P2P will receive the best of this because they need it the most. F2P will see it affect their graded armors; in fact, this is also rumored to be tied into the smithing revamp we've been expecting for a few months. So all tiers of armor will see this damage soaking (albeit it in very limited amounts), if the BTS can be taken at its word, but only members will be able to utilize this to the fullest. _Douglas
Change will always make people feel uncomfortable but it is inevitable. Its whether people are willing to accept certain things and adapt that will cause them to survive or not. In many ways I agree with you but I just didnt like some of the wording I guess. Was attempting to make a snide joke but guess it didnt come off well. Dont mind me (back to my hole)I don't know about you guys, but I like my primordial soup with a side of mashed potatoes. ba dum pish Proud Gladiator
Ankit
You guys are complaining already and I bet some of you havent actually read the update and understand what it means. First the soaker will not trigger often. The damage soaker doesnt trigger until higher hits are done. Second This will make people LESS likely to welfare as the better armour you wear the more you will soak. This will essentially push people to wear the best they can (within reason). Full rune > dhide in terms of potential soaking (should you get hit 200+) Third people are saying its easier to tell what you are getting hit by most but that isnt necessarily true. People have quick prayers and when you put them up you will IMMEDIATELY get hit by the one you are praying the least. This is usually melee prayer and you will see yourself get hit by range, and/or mage more. People will assume they should switch to the icon thats coming up the most but when you switch your prayer to that style melee will start hitting you a great deal more thus possibly becoming the one hitting you the most. A person is still going to need to be aware of the style ratio of a clan they are fighting to actually be a tank much like it is now. The icons will be an indicator but by NO means will it actually take away from the ability to tank. All this update seems to hearken is that it will grab the dinosaur clans by the scruff and force them to get away from melee binds/range (or god forbid, simply melee/binds) and into all styles which has been the trend of the past 4 years anyway. I would wager that any "dinosaur" clan has been doing all styles longer than most of the clans have been alive. Just saying.....Orange Ownage. #Solace | Solace Senior Member | Solace Forums | Solace MemberlistI'm making a killing here, I think I should be on top of the world just chilling here. envymark
My reading of this update is that it will only soak hits when they are above 200. Which is incredibly unlikely unless you're sniping with a corrupt weapon. It won't affect F2P. It is an extremely needed update for P2P. Therefore, good update!Or a dung wepon but pretty much word for word agree with u.
Shutai
dont think it'll affect f2p much, except clans hat uses the "G2h + rage" switching Combo during M+B+R wars ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ~~~Proud Ex-Council of Tempted Killers, There Since Day One~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~No Regrets, Only Memories ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SaltyPigeon
Range+mage won't be effected by this update as they can't hit 200+ anyway, therefore potentially balancing the f2p combat triangle. This shouldn't effect what people wear in pvp. This will not effect anyones tanking skills. Tanking standards will just be raised. This shouldn't effect the overall outcome of wars. Organization, levels, and numbers should still determine the winner. Will be wierd seeing purple soak splats. This will effect clans depending on the amount of members that are epileptic and have seizures triggered by purple colors.

The Observer
Was released today. Anyone notice any difference yet?
Adr1an
The hitsplats can cover your lifebar. Can increase lag in p2p due to so many splats being around. Having looked at the gear thats effected and such this will really only have big impacts on bossing and p2p pking. Most regular npc's dont hit above a 200 nor does it really happen in f2p warring aside from cwa wars with dung. Even then thats only melee really. This actually makes it better to get a gravite rapier over a g2h since g2h is more likely to be soaked and rapier can hit lower but more often (being faster)
