Pretty basic concept, we have sections for different stuff here (Music, Video Games, Sports, etc.). I think a section for life-related Rants or venting would be just great. I know there's a successful thread on these forums for Things that Annoy You but this could be a section for more specific, or isolated incidences and stories rather than just general annoyances. There's probably a Suggestions Forum or something I missed, if this is in the wrong spot then please move it.

 

So you know, thoughts, opinions, suggestions, all that good stuff... go for it.

To be completely honest I don't think it would work. I think the current system works well as is. I think the problem is you feel constraint to only post in those "designated" topics but you're not required too by any means as long as you have something that can carry on a viable discussion.

I agree with both of the above. If it was more of a discussion/debate subforum, so many of the threads in Off-Topic could be classified as rants at the beginning or over time (innocent discussion becoming a heated, ranting debate). If it was just a place for venting quick frustrations, I feel like there would just be a lot of short individual threads. The threads mention above serve as a good home for these kinds of rants. In short, I think everything is working just fine as is :)

It works in rs because it leads to discussion. In OT I think it would just go into spam and there wouldn't be enough discussion to merit it.

Not enough demand, and there's already a few threads where you can discuss/rant about your life.

Most rants are specific enough to warrant their own threads, and if they aren't they belong in a blog, or in the Today... thread. Or the thread OP mentioned, Things That Annoy you

I agree with the above, and would like to say I think there wouldn't be enough traffic. Also, I would not want to go to a subforum that encourages whining. A couple topics is fine, but a subforum full of whining? Ick.

Making a Rants section isn't going to improve the quality of discussion in Off Topic overall.

Doing this will just limit the amount of activity in each forum really. Should just keep it the way it is. Just as the old saying goes 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it!'
