The new program will add microsoft points to your account when you do these things..

I found this useful considering I expect to be renewing my live account and buying some points around Christmas time. If you have an Xbox 360 I highly suggest signing up.

Microsoft recently launched a tempting partner program for its Bing search engine. By installing the Bing toolbar (which appears to only be compatible with Windows rigs running Internet Explorer) and using it to search or taking part in daily promotions, you can earn Reward points. Notably, this form of fake currency can be easily exchanged for another: Microsoft Points.

The program allows you to trade in Reward points for Microsoft Points in 100-point denominations -- though it's unclear how quickly one can accumulate these points. We do know that installing the Bing toolbar earns you 250 points from the get-go, of which 200 can immediately be exchanged for $2.50 worth of Xbox bucks. So what's the catch? There doesn't appear to be one.

Already signed up. My account hasn't been activated yet, but it said it will be within the next 36 hours.

Finally on here to update that I have officially quit! It's been fun.

I received an invite to this a while ago. Never got the surveys they promised to send me at all. It seems now that it's open to everyone, though, and not just invite only. They added more ways to get points though since I was originally invited.

Seems like Microsoft is getting desperate.

Lol, I signed up for it with my Hotmail account (which I only made because of Xbox Live) and Hotmail thinks the confirmation email looks suspicious... and it's from xbox.com.

Microsoft, I am disappoint.

No microsoft bashing please. If you want to do that just make a thread comparing Ps3 Move sales to Kinect sales throw the Wii in there and you'll probably get all 3 sets of fan boys in there and start Armageddon of the Video Games board.

I own a Wii, and 360 but no Ps3. I don't really hate on any console considering I think they all have their strong points. I'm also quite certain all are making decent returns this late in the gen.

Microsoft has finally given Mom and incentive to buy 8 year old Timmy an XBOX Live subscription >_>

They must be real desperate.

They sold 2.5m Kinnect's in 25 days..

They were also leading PS3 and Wii in terms of sales in the month of November but I haven't seen any new sales figures overall other than the Kinnect success.

Don't know why people think they're desperate, maybe they're just offering more and more incentives for the 10 dollar price hike for Xbox Live that is believed to be because of Activision.

they want people to have more initiative so they can have more.

I find the irony in this quite humorous.

Link?

Believed to be means that i'm not stating it as fact, but people are speculating that activision wants more out of Call of Duty online.

Activision has taken an interest in charging a subscription fee for their online services and all of a sudden xbox live raises its prices.

Thats not the link correlating activision to xbox live, I can't seem to find the article I read but i'm sure it wasn't an official statement, rather an analyst reading into it and correlating both company's recent business decisions to one another.

I honestly believe the next generation of gaming will have publishers charging for online multiplayer. Call of duty generates the most online activity for xbox live and as a business why would they not want a piece of the pie?

Download the toolbar on windows internet explorer and you'll be rewarded with 250 microsoft points. Using bing will also net you points, but some prefer to not browse using IE.

Claim your free points!

You get on IE 7+ and you download the Bing Tool Bar. Download here

Once you download it and register you'll recieve 250 bing rewards points. Every two sites you search via bing on IE earn you a bing point. You can earn 16 bing points daily until the end of the year meaning you just have to type anything into the bing search engine 32 times a day, which takes very little time to earn 16 points daily. You also recieve offers such as reading something, watching a video, or taking a survey to earn 12 points at a time. This is all found on the bing tool bar once you download it, it has a tab that says rewards.

Edit: The way I did the daily search was I went through and typed every letter of the alphabet and then doubled letters until I reached 32 searches. You don't even have to click links just type the letter into the search engine and hit enter.

Once you reach 400 points you can exchange your points for 400 xbox live microsoft points. I'm already at 302 in one day after I did the daily searches and checked out their offers.

It's not a bad tool bar as well, lets you check hotmail from the toolbar without having to visit your email inbox.

If you have anymore questions just let me know and i'll try to clarify, if you don't have xbox live they let you get other gifts with your bing rewards points. Hopefully I helped someone.
