That is a case of atheists being more religious than the people they slander. My problem is not really with religion, but moreso "acting religious" - the religious mindset that can be seen amongst atheists and theists alike. As long as society can hold an average conversation without "god" or "the nonexistence of god" being brought up, I think we could get a lot more done.

From there it's more of not having people foam at the mouth when those beliefs are inevitably brought up.

Are you implying that you are intolerant about my belief system?

PS: Foaming at the mouth is literally the best thing you can do when religion is being argued over. Am I right??

a) Both cases are political issues being portrayed as religious issues

b) Your inability to recognize the inherent and permanent connection between religion and politics is shameful

c) Religion and politics in the Middle East are literally the same thing. If you need me to be more specific, I will.

Ok, let's stay on topic. There's no need to call each other trolls...I think these religion debates tend to bring out the worst in many (myself included).

Okay! Uh, Islam is a very peaceful religion, except for some pieces where it says to absolutely kill X person, but that's just a metaphor suited with the times, man.

Uh, no. In Islam it is clearly a call to Jihad and the whole religion should be condemned. Of course, when it's in the Bible it's just a misinterpretation.

Because that clearly doesn't apply to Christians at all.

At any rate, I've always found it curious how Christians don't keep kosher or celebrate Jewish holidays. Seems like they should, according to scripture. Oh and also, if you don't think Christianity ever started war, you should take a look at Northern Ireland, the Crusades, 30 Years War, and most of European politics from the 16th and 17th centuries. Protestants versus Catholics.

Christianity != Judaism. And no one is saying that Christianity wasn't a reason people used to start wars in the past. But does it really matteR? If it wasn't in the name of God it would've been in the name of themselves.

Hey, cut that out. This is no place for games.

On topic, I don't think statistics are of much help in finding out how many Muslims really uphold terrorist ideals. On one hand, the statisticians could be skewing the results by asking vague questions and extrapolating it to "violence". On the other hand, someone's personal testimony about their own violence is not a foolproof means of acquiring the truth. Either way, I don't think it's possible to find accurate statistics on the matter.

If you're looking for honest input, you need more than one answer. The Eucharist and transubstantiation are very highly debated topics in the church. I believe it's just symbolism, the cracker doesn't actually become flesh, nor does the grape juice actually become blood.

I never knew there were people who actually believed it was blood, somehow. Does it magically transform once ingested? Serious question for whoever understands the viewpoint.

Also, Saru, you may want to look through the website I quoted, as it has a whole page devoted to the Bible's opinions on homosexuality, including the New Testament. To me, it seemed the anti-homosexuality was more common, but it tended to be someone's interpretation of Jesus's teachings, and not Jesus himself saying it.
