R_2_H
Hey hey. I don't play RS much so I have no idea if anything has superseded rocks (forgot the NPC name, those things with 50 hp in the fremennik area) as best melee exp for these combat stats: 60 att76 str40 def1 pray(78 hp) (1 slay, 20 dung, 1 summon, other p2p stats ~1) Att, def, and pray are staying at those lvls. I do not want to do any long quests unless it's really worth it. I have NO p2p quests under my belt (that I remember),I have ~600k for p2p equipment (I'm f2p right now)I have not done d slayer. ...if that matters. So what would be the fastest exp? I want to get to 83-85 strength fairly quickly. I spend on avg 5-10 hours a week playing. Also recommending equipment would be cool too. Last time I was members (~2009) my equip was full rune, combat brac, d long, str ammy. What would be a good moneymaking alternative (decent-good XP and good money). Thanks-Ranger The ULTIMATE Runescape weapon
foursideking
My advice: slayer, slayer, slayer. The tasks you get are typically melee-able, you make tons of profit, and you can use good melee equipment at higher levels...
RESULTS
^that I made 400k from 1-30 slayer, hahif no other quests, at least do Priest in peril, plague city, fremenik trials etc that unlock new important areas...i still am yet to do them, but they are top of my agenda
foursideking
Don't forget fairytale2, the one that unlocks fairy rings. Fairy rings are godly when training everything....
Vex
Try yak's if you can get to Neitznot, not sure if you need a quest to get there, probably do. Otherwise you're looking at Spiders or anything aggressive in Stronghold of Security, since you'll be training only strength with the above stats. When you are members the bulk of your initial cash from monsters, will probably come from herbs. But due to your def level and prayer level, you will most likely be confined to much lower level things to train on. Preferably ones that don't do much damage and have a decent chunk of HP, since you'll have to bank too often otherwise. Def can compensate for prayer, or visa versa, but without both, it severely limits your options. (Via unlocking areas through quests (quest reward xp and requirements)) and you can't protect melee/wear decent armour. http://www.[Caution! Cheefoo
Slayer. It may not be the absolute fastest way to train melee, but it keeps things interesting. manitstinks
It would definitely fend off the boredom if you do slayer so I say go with it
R_2_H
is slayer faster than those 50hp rock things?how long would it take to get to 85 strength with 5-10 hours of playing time a week ? :s (with slayeR) thanks The ULTIMATE Runescape weapon
Quyneax
It depends, living rock creatures are like 150k xp/hr at decent stats, whereas steel dragons are quite slow. In general, if you only take low-defence tasks, you should be able to do 80k xp/hr at the least. foursideking
Add in profit, and slayer (using shilo) nets around 500-700k profit per hour, wheras crabs is waaaay less. Slaya ftw!

4N6
I recommend slayer, not only is it a potential profit, it will give you Slayer experience along with Melee experience (obviously, but why train one stat when you could train several). All_Is_Great
I do not reccommend slayer. It is a waste at early levels, terrible combat exp, and terrible money. Since you're just using p2p to speed up training, I recommend using super attacks and maybe super strengths. Quest for monkey madness ASAP, it is totally worth it for the Dscim to train strength. But if not, use an obby mace and beserk necklace. Or maybe do lost city (very fast quest, like 10 minutes) for a Dlong. If that can't be obtained either, then just use a rune scim. Rock crabs are great exp, and are faster than slayer, especially at your levels. For moneymaking, there isn't much you can do besides collecting raw materials. Snape grass perhaps. Sorry I have no idea about low level money making.
Quyneax
Use super strength for sure, no question. @foursideking: slayer really isn't 500k/hr at Duradel, I think. At least not at lower levels.
