Revenant Dungeons

Featured Replies

As I read over the new FAQ posted on the RSOF, i thought to myself the very same question posed about the Revenants, "What will happen to these rather annoying NPC's?" So I continued reading on down the page and LOW AND BEHOLD, there was the Answer:

What about the revenants? What is going to happen with them?

Revenants will be added to a new PvP enabled dungeon. Revenants will have all PvP unique drops such as brawlers, corrupt dragon and statues added to them. Revenants will no longer teleblock or freeze opponents but will continue to change combat styles and generally cause havoc.

The Forinthry bracelet now has new functionality you can use it to repel revenants and also give temporary immunity to damage from them.

What is going to happen to all the old PvP world drops like statius sets or artifacts etc?

See above will be dropped by revs.

Woah, wait did they just say a new dungeon? And they drop all the unique items such as the corrupt f2p weapons, brawlers and all those goodies? hmmm... That stinks!

Wait, what did I just read again?! "...no longer teleblock or freeze opponents?!" woah, Does this mean that all of the P2P items such as statius, and Vesta's will also be dropped by an easier form of a Pker?

The conclusions came to my mind and I still wonder, exactly how often will which type of revenant drop these items? Will they still be in high demand or will their demand drop due to the free trade? What do you think? Will this be an important update for the long run with many players having easier access to brawlers and the like, or will it just die away and become another one of the many interesting yet obscurely used parts of the game?

I think you may have missed the part where the dungeon will be a PvP zone, meaning it'll be a PKer hotspot.

As far as item demand, it'll do just fine with free trade. Stat hammers are the best thing for corping, and VLS is going to see a spike in popularity as an extremely powerful one handed spec weapon for no armor staking.

Really? Is that what they're doing to revs? For as long as I can remember I've had memories, and my favourite ones revolved around revenants being the guardians of wildy. Reducing them to a new dungeon kinda kills my opinion of what they were, and shifts it to more of them being in the 'land of misfit mascots' kinda thing. Prices for all that stuff will drop huge, and brawlers will get removed due to incredible ease of obtaining them...

I'm pretty sure there will be ways around this. Either welfaring or going there with a clan yourself.

I'm betting its very very low droprate AND it will be multi-combat AND pker hotspot. No need to have a giant discussion over this since most will be major speculation as jagex has released very little info about it.

I did miss out on that part, but I just read over it and from the sounds of what the Jmod said, it will be very hard to obtain the items from what we currently have known as Pking. That being said, the items will rise in price due to rarity i think? :shades: Anyway off of my rambling, Does anyone believe it will just be a PKing hotspot, or possibly a viable source for a tough clan to own and make money from the items?

I agree with K4ylan, the "incredible ease of obtaining them" won't be as easy as you may think. Firstly you will have the possibility of being piled by revenants. Secondly, you could get jumped (even in a single way combat) and killed by another player, while STILL having the revenant to deal with as well.

Furthermore, I believe that the droprates won't be as low as we think, Think of our current PKing system and then we can relate the new Rev dungeon to those standards of droprates... Hopefully.

Remember it would also mean that you can't obtain such items with the 76k trick anymore.

And guys, don't forget that this dungeon might be f2p. In fact, it most definitely will be, since many of the rewards are already f2p. Remember that in f2p, if you have rune armor and decent defense, you might as well be a god, since you won't be getting KO'd by any players very easily.

True, and you can 1-item. So if you have plenty of food, a decent weapon for f2p, and some green dhide, this could be paradies.

With brawlers in f2p though, I think that makes it too easy to obtain'm. Maybe make those drops off the p2p only revs?

You limit your drop table severely by doing that, corrupt dragon and lesser statues? no thanks :P

Probably, but I was referring to corrupt dragon and statuettes. The drop rate better be very low, or else there will be no balance for these items. In p2p, it's a little better since the PvP risk actually counts for something. PvP risk in f2p is simply put, a joke.

I think that the drop tables will be evened out by a combination of about 50% terrible drops, i.e. what they drop now, and the other half being what you generally get with 76king and 0% EP. At least that's how i see it being balanced.

Meh...I'm referring to the unfairity of these items. If a f2per can use full rune/a full bag of lobs to get brawlers, then what's stopping a p2per with 50x more resources from getting them? Either make it p2p exclusive, or don't make it at all...

I agree there. If they decide to keep the brawlers and such, they should also keep the seperation between items for drop tables. Imagine prayer in f2p with brawlers... and worse, Imagine if they were *tradeable* :ohnoes:

Even at that point, probably not. Remember when EPing you need to set apart 2 hours of time to get the EP. When killing Revs, you won't need to.

Brawlers aren't f2p now, and there's no reason for Jagex to make them f2p. You don't have anything to worry about.

You misunderstood me, I meant that no matter how you kill the Rev or how long it takes etc, you build no EP, ergo even if you kill for hours and hours, you still have the equivalent drop potential of 0% EP. Not the equivalent of 2 hours of gaining EP for just the kill, or staying there. Think of it as a flat rate 0 EP and it makes more sense.

Ah, I see what you mean now.

Terciu:

Will the new revenant dungeon have some sort of mighty revenant boss? Will the "dungeon" itself require any dungeoneering level to enter?

Mod Fetzki:

Good idea - let's see whether we add both these things.

Might add a Dung requirement? ! *points to dung lev*
