Leverls and idiots

Lep

Recommended Posts

Just started 'trying' to do some dung after not doing any since early december, and dung got a lot crappier. All of the pros have vanished and no floors are ever 30 minutes anymore.

Just did a dungeon where we failed levers 6 times.

1st time

Keyer said he'll count; 1,2,3 (then we pull) but I hesitated because there was no 'go'

2nd time

I asked where the 'go' was and they said try again; 1,2,3 (then we pull) and there was no 'go' again so we failed

3rd time

I said I'd count because it's easy and another person counted at same time as me; we failed

4th time

A guy quit so we had to do with 4. Someone said do it when we count and other guy said watch him; we failed

5th time

Someone pulled randomly for no reason

6th time

We got it and then the level 99 quit and so did everyone else

Let me explain to every idiot out there that doesn;t know how a countDOWN works: when a rocket blasts off, it goes 3,2,1, BLASTOFF and when new years happens, it goes 3,2,1, HAPPY NEW YEARS and when you do levels in the dungeoneering it's 3,2,1, GO. It's like this for every countdown on the planet. Last year in 2010 when pros were actually around, the countdown ALWAYS went 3,2,1,go. ALWAYS. The only time it never would is if you were with noobs, the good people always said 3,2,1,go. But now, that there's no one good left, every noob has started counting completely different than each other.

TL;DR

It's always 3,2,1,go. That's how every countdown works on the planet earth.

Definition

-counting backward from an arbitrary number to indicate the time remaining before some event (such as launching a space vehicle)

-to count numbers backwards towards zero, esp in timing such a critical operation

You don't just stop at 1 or 3 without saying go. Zero or go always comes after 1 and if you're stupid enough to count up, then it's works the same way.

Seriously, to be asked by a bunch of level 110s with 80 dungeoneering, 'who do you dung with?' just makes me wish I could trade all 3 chaotics I have for 1 maul so I never have to go near this skill again. Are the no clan chats for people at 95+ dung?

Why you are defining a COUNTDOWN, when they were counting UP?

Also if they said they'd count 1,2,3 and not they'd count 1,2,3,go why expect a go?

If someone told me we'd count 1,2,3 i'd expect tht we go on 3.

Let me clarify... they never said how they'd count. They just said that they would count. So if someone says "I'll count" then it's only logical to expect a countdown.

If someone said "I'll count" and ive not worked with them before I'd question how they'd count rather than illogical assume a specific form of counting.

But if you assumed a countdown surely you would of automatically realised u were wrong when he went 1,2 opposed to 3,2.

Then given it was ur mistake for expecting a go surely then on the second try it is logical to assume they expect you to of learnt they mean for u to pull on 3?

Just pull on 3, is what keyer will say prior to counting.

I usually count down, and the one time a team did it differently it caught me off guard.

You should consider joining dg sweepers, they have consistent 25-35 minute floors with official keyers ofcourse, and even without them, very bearable team mates well, because theyre tipiters :)

Given the fact that you're 65 dungeoneering, your attempt at a logical insult towards me is null since you grew up with the people you're trying to defend... you also can't 'ask them' because the majority like to think they're pros and start counting immediately. Your last comment works the other way as well.

Luckily, there are people who can help.

http://forum.tip.it/topic/288181-dungeonsweepers-dgs-a-dungeoneering-clan-for-tipiters/

I see your point about the countdown, but whenever I DG I've always counted down from 3 and have everyone pull on 1. That's how everyone does it now in dungeoneering, and in all honesty I've never see someone do 3, 2, 1, pull or something similar.

I just say "on 3 . . . 1, 2, 3." Have yet to run into a problem (though I only dg with DGS).

Same, and I don't key for DGS.

Tbh keyer should always count, and there doesn't have to be a "go". No matter counting up or down, it's 99% always 3 numbers. So just pull after the last one.

I'm 114 dung

I always say 1,2,3

I don't tell them how i am counting beforehand

They always get it

I think the problem is you

Yes, must be me. Even though even in this thread there are multiple people saying they each do it differently. I went from 1-93 dung early in 2010 and almost every single team would say 3,2,1,go which were coincidently the people you always got 30 minute floors on average with; the people who use real life logic in RuneScape - real life logic being how a countdown actually works. Only rarely you'd get the odd noob who counted differently, but the majority of that would never happen because you'd only dung with people who knew what they were doing.

So far, now that I've returned toi doing dung, I've seen; "1,2,3" and "3,2,1" and "1,2,3 and go" and 1, 2, go. Never once have I seen 3,2,1,go. Must be because all of the good dungers are already 120 dung and quit.

So be it, if I have to think illogicly them I will.

So if you don't count "3. 2. 1. go" your a bad dungeoneer? Great logic. :wall:

Just FYI, i got 90 dungeoneering months ago, and I've seen people count all different ways, never had much of a problem.

And tbh, failing the 2nd time was your fault. Obviously everyone else was content with "no 'go'", so you shoulda caught on if you were smarter than the others as you claim.

So you are saying if you dont say 3 2 1 go then you are not a good dunger?

Sounds to me that you cant listen to the keyer's instructions.

He clearly told you how he was going to count, not once but twice

I key 30 minute floors consistently, and I'm far from the best keyer in DGS. Are we not good enough? I'm 109 dungeoneering and I can't remember ever running into someone who tacked on "go" after the count, and that's including 3BO.

I think, Obtaurian, you should put whatever way to count in your clan chats title so everyone does it the same way.

I have never even visited 3bo, I used whatever that 90+ clan chat was waaay back before occult even came out. So long ago now that I don't even remember the name of that chat...

Edit: Just looked it up and it was DG Elites

To be honest it's never a problem on DGS.

Also, the levers aren't that harsh. If you just pull a split second after 3 unconditionally, it should still work, because the levers give you a large enough room for error that it will still work if everyone else pulls on 4 or "go".

Also protip: run towards the center of the room immediately after you pull the lever. This lets you avoid any damage you could take if someone fails the levers. You should tell this to your teammates too if they're randoms, so they're less inclined to quit.

EDIT: Also, DG Elites no longer exists.

Why? Like I said, I've never had that problem, DGS or otherwise. Making a big adieu about it seems unnecessary.

Explain. How is counting up to 3 (1, 2, 3) then pulling on 3 more illogical then going "3 2 1 go" or "1 2 3 go"

It's just a system to get people to pull at the right time. In DGS, I've always seen "Pull on 3" then a count up to 3. I don't see why one is "logically" better then the other.

And if you try to bring up the point about "standardization," I'd like to point out that, from what you said, it seems as though you were the only one who messed up the first time.

Really, your rant makes no sense. They said count to 3, he counted to 3, you didn't pull. So they try again, and sitll mess it up.... I'd expect one to notice that, hey, there wasn't a go, everybody pulled on 3, I should do that too.

You sure you even read the first post? You wasted all of your time typing that since he didn't say how he was going to count, and he didn't say he will pull on 3. He simply said, 'I'll count'.

Honestly, everyone in the entire game should be treating it as a countdown by default. Everything around RuneScape is based on countdowns - NOTHING counts upwards, so where did this general consensus come from that it makes sense to count 1,2,3? When you hop worlds, it counts down until you can log in. When you're waiting for a minigame oops I mean activity to begin, it counts down.

Everyone is taught as a person to count down. You count down how many days are left until a certain day, you count down until something begins and you even countdown how long is left of whatever began. There is no reason anybody in RuneScape should be treating this differently. Everything we're taught teaches us in a way that we should all be going 3,2,1, go. Think back and remember when you were in grade 2; when you were racing against your friends you always said 3,2,1, then yelled go and ran off. Counting down always has a definite of which everyone should understand being zero or go; that's how we are TAUGHT. I can't even blame this on the stupidity of players because even the stupid ones are taught to count down in school.

Counting up is just confusing and no one should be doing it. Just because some people agree on stopping at 3, it's still confusing. We aren't taught to count 1,2,3 until a certain thing happens, we are taught 3,2,1, go. There is no definite number which the person will stop at when counting up. I can't even explain this with a bunch of technical mumbo-jumbo but if you don't see how it doesn't make sense to count down 3,2,1,go then there's no convincing you otherwise. I'll go back to the rocket launching example; we count down and the numbers are preparing us and saying 'blastoff' is the final command of what to do. It just makes sense - the numbers are simply getting us ready to do everything at the same time and the 'go' is the official command. 1 or 3 is a number, not a command. All the counting is just so something happens at the same time.

But whatever, I'll go with 1,2,3 like the apparent majority of dungeoneers nowadays.

Yeah gawd make sure u read the first post where it makes it clear he counted and everyone pulled on 3 and lep didn't, thus mucking it up.

Then when they tried again lep still didn;t pull on 3 because OBVIOUSLY when ur the 1/5 tht does it differently and they say try again the 4/5 don;t expect u to chnage n do it their way...

I am 82 dungeoneering and whenever I am on a floor... And we find the lever room, I will tell everyone to shut the [bleep] up and listen to my commands in that room. I then countdown from 10,000, pulling on 1  . They always get it without explaining beforehand.. No failing so far.

Pointless rant, if you fail for the first time, step away from the lever and talk it through.

It seems apparent to me that nobody in RuneScape has gotten past the kindergarten grade which is the only grade where they teach you to count upwards; main lesson being 1,2,3.
