Spec is somewhat useful

 

Z spear:

Crush +65

Str +75

Magic Def 0

Attack speed: 6

Spec is useless

 

Is it possible that the dmace isn't that much worse than the zpear at waterfiends?

All skills 70+

 

Trails: 2 x Rune platebody (g)

Barrows: 1 x Dharok's legs

Drops: 1 x Dragon skirt | 1 x Dragon defender

Nope. That attack speed difference is a big deal, you'd have to do 120% as much damage per hit with mace for it to be equal.

I've used both but I seem to hit a lot more often with mace, but when I was using spear I was off task versus being on task with mace

 

At some attack levels, would dmace be better?

All skills 70+

 

Trails: 2 x Rune platebody (g)

Barrows: 1 x Dharok's legs

Drops: 1 x Dragon skirt | 1 x Dragon defender

Wait, you mean a 15% attack and strength bonus given to one weapon and not the other changes things? Yes, at level 60 attack the mace is superior, but at 70 the spear suddenly becomes dramatically better. That's because it's really hard to do damage when you can't equip the weapon.

The stats show that dmace has higher accuracy but lower average damage

If you wanted to level attack - that would only make the zamorakian spear more effective then the dmace not the other way around.

 

Also, in most of the guides you see - people recommend a ss/zspear

If a dragon mace was better - it would be recommended (it's really not that hard of an idea to come up with so people must've tried it out)

zs can't train attack...

 

I use a chaotic staff at wfs.

 

I wasn't saying that you should train attack.

Only that if he did train attack - it would just make his zspear more effective then his dmace.

(As in lvl 85 atk vs lvl 90 atk - you would see more of a dps increase for the zspear and not the dmace)

Order for weapons is cmaul > ss > zspear > random stuff you shouldn't bother using. Waterfiends are tough. Just low-levelled but they hit quite well and they have quite a lot of defence, + you can't turmoil them properly. They are essentially the mithril dragons of the fiends group. Don't use inferior gear on them.

I've taken my whip quite a few times, and I didn't notice a "real" difference with the zamorakian spear.. (well I did indeed notice the difference, but it wasn't as much as "don't bother", probably a 10-20% loss in kill speed).

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

 

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

 

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

 

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

10-20% is a LOT. It is the difference between waterfiends and black demons, pretty much. If you are going to use a whip, waterfiends are a bad idea.

Pffff. No guys it wasn't a big deal, I just used another 6-12 minutes every single hour!
