Ambler
The seercul is a cheap weapon with a lethal special attack against mages, that could be used against people using the "staking my rules" and hoping you will will try and special them out, soon to realise that they have a staff of light, to nullify your attacks. For those who dont know, the seercul's special attack reduces your opponents magic level, an as long as they chooe not to autocast, they will not be able to use blood barrage, as the seercul special will have educed their magic level, and stop them casting barrage spells on you. I tried this myself in a few duels, and it seems very effective, if you wear armadyl or karils , you normally have enough accuracy to hit through ahrims and swap out to your crossbow and sheild, while they swear and call you a bug abuser. A few responses I expect:«But cant mages still cast if they use autocast after the seercul special?»Yes, but generally people do no autocast in stakes to make it easier to choose the spell they want. an remember, they will suffer a massive accuracy loss, as they will be 92 or lower magic. Thanks for reading, and feel free to test this yourself, I am not responsible if you get cleaned. ;)(If in wrong fourm please move and edit this bit out. Patr1ck
Usually stakes are only one style, it would be extremely rare to find a stake with both range and magic on at the same time. I'm not sure where this is going.
Ambler
The best way to do this is to do the "staking my rules my level" people, as they will look like they are melee, but actually mage. if you swap it so it is range and mage AND melee allowed, then you just seercul/ crossbow themto death ^^My blog of EoC PvM, lols and Therapy.^^My livestream- Currently: Offline :(Offical Harpy Therapist of the Mad[hide=Lewtations]Barrows drops: Dharok's helm x2, Guthan's helm, Ahrim's top, Hood and skirt, Torag's hammers, Karils skirt, Karil's top, Torag's helm, Verac's skirt, Verac's Flail, Dharok's Platebody.Dag kings drops: Lost count! :wall:4k+ Glacors, 7 Ragefires, 4 Steadfasts, 4 Glaivens, 400+ shards![/hide]
Tang
pretty sure if u do all styles melee can inflict damage faster than crossbow at the same relevant combat level. Also jagex made it so that u can still cast barrage if ur mage lvl is reduced/ Tl;dr No.

muggiwhplar
You obviously didn't read the part where I mentioned the staff of light. They can't use a SoL if they use the seercull spec >_> Unless I'm completely missing your point, which I probably am hah.
Tang
You obviously didn't read the part where I mentioned the staff of light. You are obviously not experinced in staking, sol has its own counterpart, EE. Also people wont use sol spec in all styles stake

I_am_Not
multi combat stakes(arent as rare as most think) use morrigan's javs/melee weapon to spec with. doubt people would use a seercul, opponent could just use their other styles then without any loss If you quote me please be sure to note that I'm extremely mad. Ambler
You will be using the seercul againt the mager, to stop them using blood barrage on you. You will then swap to whatever bow/sheild you use for ranging I made a fair amount of money doing this, and only lost one fight becase I got combo'd badly by blood blitz. ^^My blog of EoC PvM, lols and Therapy.^^My livestream- Currently: Offline :(Offical Harpy Therapist of the Mad[hide=Lewtations]Barrows drops: Dharok's helm x2, Guthan's helm, Ahrim's top, Hood and skirt, Torag's hammers, Karils skirt, Karil's top, Torag's helm, Verac's skirt, Verac's Flail, Dharok's Platebody.Dag kings drops: Lost count! :wall:4k+ Glacors, 7 Ragefires, 4 Steadfasts, 4 Glaivens, 400+ shards![/hide]

Ambler
To melee you, they have to take off their SoL, removng the effect, then you can mage them, they start maging, withoiut the Staff of light, allowing you to melee them for the rest of the duel, while waring your karils to reduce damage on you. ^^My blog of EoC PvM, lols and Therapy.^^My livestream- Currently: Offline :(Offical Harpy Therapist of the Mad[hide=Lewtations]Barrows drops: Dharok's helm x2, Guthan's helm, Ahrim's top, Hood and skirt, Torag's hammers, Karils skirt, Karil's top, Torag's helm, Verac's skirt, Verac's Flail, Dharok's Platebody.Dag kings drops: Lost count! :wall:4k+ Glacors, 7 Ragefires, 4 Steadfasts, 4 Glaivens, 400+ shards![/hide]
i_trollz_u
A range spec that does damage like morrigans or even the dark bow would most likely be more usefull in winning a duel than a seercull spec.SOL only affects melee, and no one smart would waste their spec bar with SOL if range was allowed, considering the spec is useless against range attacks. Also, they just switch to range themselves?
muggiwhplar
Also, they just switch to range themselves? This leads to the question-- under such conditions, does mage or range have better DPS?
i_trollz_u
Also, they just switch to range themselves? This leads to the question-- under such conditions, does mage or range have better DPS? With a very limited number of hit points the range specs with darkbow+morrigants would make range superior, regardless of DPS calculations. If the person happened to already use an SOL spec, morrigan/hand cannon/karils would have higher dps in a no arm fight. EDIT: If all styles were allowed i don't see what's stopping a person that was hit by seercull from just claw specing either, if melee wasn't allowed then there's no reason someone would use an SOL spec anyway. Aneron
let's face it there are just better uses for your whole spec bar
Lakitsym_Rose
Uhh.. It was updated a while ago so you could still mage with your magic level reduced below it's requirement. Just less accurate. Seercul is garbage. Even if they are SoL'ing might as well Dbow/Handcannon/Morrigan. In which case they'd be stupid for using SoL spec.
