Prayer or Herblore

Right well I have an urge to spend my bank on one of these skills as they are plugged as some of the most useful.

My bank is currently worth 250m

 

So should I spend roughly the 195m I will need to get 95 prayer from 70 with frost dragon bones and leave 50ish for gear.

 

Or should I spend the money on herblore? I don't really know what herblore level this would get me or the best way to level herblore. I will not go above 96!

 

What I want to do in the future: I will slay till I have maxed melee stats and the move onto any boss hunting that I can. My current combat stats are 80 attack,defence and strength. 75 range, 80 mage and 70 prayer along with 42 summon!!!

Tbh, I'd say spend the 30 or so mil (?) on extremes, then fork some cash into getting your summoning up (Things like the bunyip would be nice to have when slaying) - and when you have enough, buy turmoil then overloads.

 

(From what I've heard on other threads, Ext>Turm>Ovl is the order that you should get)

Thanks Runecrafts nice advice. Do extremes really only cost 30m to get? What do I make to get there? To Brad I made my first 50m off of Barrows ! Then did some little green dragon hunting and some flipping and well my friend gave me 50m :P

As of now, I can't find Grimys herblore spreadsheet, so I'm not 100% sure on the price.

 

But, I know Prayer & Super Strength potions are cheap right now. :)

Edit ~ Ppots are 9GP/XP, and 85 Herblore is approx. 3m xp, so doing those it would cost a bit less then I previously said.

Super strengths are about 13GP/XP, so that would cost about 40M but the training would go alot quicker.

Herb: If you're willing to use spicy stews from RFD, then you only need 91 herblore to make all the overloads you need. Extremes would be more cost effective for slayer anyway. The least expensive way to train herb chages nearly daily, but making super restores is usually very good. Buy the unfinished potion and just add the secondary if you haven't unlocked scroll of cleansing from dungeoneering. Start making the untradable potions as soon as you can as the day will come when you run out of them.

 

Pray: Dragon bones would be a lot cheaper than frost dragon bones. You could also try to buy ourg or dagannoth bones for cheap exp.

 

You can afford 95 pray and 91 herb with cash to spare for better slayer gear and cannonballs with 250M if you use something else than frost dragon bones. Just use the cash from slayer and other things you do on the side to get 96 herblore come next bonus xp weekend if you dislike fiddling around with the stews.

prayer pots should be cheap since ranaar's have dropped about 50% in price. When I was leveling prayer I mostly did super defense and ext defense pots, also attack and super att pots were good.

 

I tried to make pots that would be useful later, instead of the efficiency police telling me to make only the cheapest ones and buy the rest later. I like being self reliant and making things easier in the long run, instead of just caring about efficiency.

pretty sure ourg and dagannoth bones are more expensive per xp than dragon bones

Extremes > Turm (until you have enough for Turm/Ovls) I somewhat regret the path I chose, but Supers are fine with me for now.

I'd say turmoil > extremes + bunyip. If you got the cash anyway, go for turm first.

Get turmoil with frost dragon bones. Unlike extremes or bunyips you can use turmoil and soul split in dungeoneering, on top of the fact that a bunyip and unicorns usefullness is greatly diminished once you have soul split. DG for your rapier doing herb runs every 1.5 hours. By the time you get your rapier you'll have more than enough for extremes. Rapier+turmoil+extremes to do waterfiends or slayer for charms for 96 summoning. Then worry about overloads.

You like pking or killing monsters/safe pvp?

 

Turm for pking, pots/ovl for anything else. Also, herb is cheaper and u can keep flipping with w/e cash you have left over if you don't spend it all at once.

Id disagree with this, because his melee stats are only 80 and hes slaying. So he wont need ovls yet, just extremes for now really.

Go for extremes and turmoil, whichever order.

Cost and exp are not the only thing that determines which is the best, you also have to take in to account the time it takes to use the bones. When including the time required the following are best for Cheatings to use at given incomes/hour if he raises summoning and uses a spirit terrorbird:

 

1mil/hr: Shaikahan Bones, with Baby Dragon Bones a close second

2mil/hr: Infernal Ashes, with Dragon Bones being a close second

3mil/hr: Dagannoth Bones

4mil/hr: Dagannoth Bones

5mil/hr: Dagannoth Bones, with Ourg Bones a semi-close second

 

For any higher BoB Dagannoth Bones are the best at almost any income rate given the current prices.

In using frost bones he saves time. A lot of it. Time that he can then use while having turmoil and soul split to make money more quickly. Of course its going to be more expensive, for 7 mil exp (approximate to 95 from 70) you will need about 11 k frost dbones. Or about 10 hours of offering bones. Using regular d bones you will need about 28 k d bones, or 25 hours of offering.

 

7 mil pray exp with d bones = 156.6 mil at current prices

7 mil pray exp with frost d bones = 210 mil at current prices.

 

Most conventional figures put the time to get a rapier at 15 hours from lvl 50, probably less if you're using a good team.

 

Add in the fact that you can actually use turmoil/soulsplit inside dg to make things significantly easier (less need for food means less deaths = more exp as well as turmoil making things go faster = more exp), the fact that soul split makes healing familiars almost worthless, and that he still has enough money for extremes after buying it with frost dragon bones means there's no reason to not use them.

 

Also those 15 hours can be used to go have fun.

Thanks everyone for the help I've decided to go for prayer, partly cos I think its a nicer skill and also the arguments put forwards for it seem better. I will be using fdbones I think as the time saved is well worth the extra cost in my opinion.
