I am very interested in devoting 100% of my RS time to PvM. This sounds like a very good idea - but I am lost as to what I should start collecting to be the best of the best (items needed etc) I am busting my arse at the moment doing dungeons to get chaotics (soloing sucks lol)

I have A LOT of free time to get skills/quests/diaries completed.

also to clear some things up: I plan on hunting EVERY boss type PvM monster in the game. I am working on getting a perfect bank for fighting ALL monsters - so please tell me anything you know. I want this thread to be a vast well of knowledge for me to study and memorize :)

Which quests, achievement diaries, and skill levels are very important to someone who primarily does PvM? Even if it is only slightly significant please post and tell me about it. Please assume that I do not have any items in my bank (mostly because I don't have anything in there! lol) When posting something please give a justification for the quest/item/skill/etc. This will eliminate any confusion or guesswork on my end. Thanks!

Not only would I like to know what I should get - but I would also like to know any tips/tricks to get the items in as little time as possible. (GP is somewhat of a restriction at this time, so methods that cost an excessive amount of gold will not be helpful!)

I have been looking into this and I have some things down so far that I think I would need:

chaotic rapier, longsword, crossbow, maul, staff

arcane stream necklace

barrows gloves

Maxed combat (99 attack, strength, hit points, defence, range, mage, prayer, summoning)

99 herblore (overloads, lots of them)

Turmoil, rigor, vigor, piety

If I am wrong in saying that I should get the items listed above please tell me that I am and give me a justification for saying that it isn't viable for full-time PvM.

Please tell me any and all items/quests/achievement diary levels(hard, medium, elite etc..)/dung scrolls/anything else that I have not listed that will be even slightly helpful with PvM. Refrain from leaving sarcastic posts/misleading information/spamming this thread.

Links to very in depth boss soloing guides will be very helpful as well. (tormented demons/GWD bosses/Corp/slayer monsters/dag kings/other stuff that isn't coming to mind at this moment)

My current stats:

PvMnDungeons.png

My house has gilded alter, glory tele, canifs tele, ardy tele, and cammy tele. They are all arranged next to the area that the house teleport takes me to. If I should get more rooms that would be helpful for PvM please tell me :D

When posting, please assume that I have not completed any quests ( I will upload a picture of my completed quests soon)

The thing is- I'm not looking for a all-in-one set, I am looking to get any and all items that will be viable for any specific PvM encounter. If a firecape is better in some situations than the ardy cape 3/4 then I will use it there. The same goes for any item - If it is better for any ONE boss/PvM encounter than ANY other item I will want to use it there. If a firecape is better in some situations than others please tell me which ones and why it is better. This is what I am looking for with items.

I will elongate my thread as I think of more things to add to it.

[spoiler=Suggestions thus far]

I suggest not skipping the CLS as it will help loads if you do bandos solo.

As for becoming a true "pro" PVMer you would need max combat, a divine, turm, overs, yak, rigour, and all chaotics. Along with all major quests being finished.

And for dung, dont do it solo. Get a team it will go much faster.

skip cls and just get rapier maul crossbow and staff is only good for dks really

As far as funding 99 herby/other stats etc i recommend doing a mixture of tds/frosts as far as solo

Cls is only better than rapier at bandos when using a shield. Rapier + ddef outdamages cls.
Got totem for pyramid plunder but it does come in handy at dks
Elite/hard ardy diary for ardy cape 3 (+6 stab +6 pray)

Elite seers diary (elite enhanced excalibur heals 400 per 100% spec)

Elite relekka diary (relekka boots=more damage vs dks + more noted drops at dks)

While guthix sleeps (access to tds)

Temple of Sennistien (access to curses)

Edgars ruse (access to teleport to trollheim)

Reciept for disaster(access to barrows gloves)

Mobilising armies rank (access to imbued rings)

Scroll of cleansing (helps with 99 herby+saves torstols on ovls)

Antiposion totem(useful at dks dont need to worry about being poisoned NOT NEEDED BUT SAVES INVENT SPACE)

Full void with deflector (used at nex)

Nomads requiem(access to soulwars cape +12 pray and soulwars respawn)

Spirit of summer+summers end(access to corp)

Frem isles (access to helm of nieznot)

Barbarian assault(access to fighter hat +5 stab slash crush fighter torso +4 str)

But, if you plan on seriously hunting dag kings, fremy elite is a MUST. 5% damage boost and noted dag bones, makes them better then frost dragons if you get an axe or ring drop

Seers elite is also pretty good.. Recovers from the -500 overloads and is pretty good healing.

Get curses. No, no, just get curses.

Scroll of cleaning, yes. Don't consider doing ANY herbing without this.. Its stupid.

Anti totem isn't really worth it. 1 dose of ++anti gives immunity for 12 minutes. Waste of tokens imho

Chaotic rapier and crossbow are the #1 chaotics you should get.

Maul if you want to solo. Don't even consider long.

arcane steam is so-so. Only real use for it would be for barraging rocklobs or maging rex, which is overkill and a wasted space when tribriding

Barrow gloves, must.

Get ardy hard/elite cape. It has a high stab bonus, which is good for corp

Cls may be slightly superior to Chaotic Rapier at Bandos (assuming a shield is worn, instead of defender), but that difference may not be sufficient to justify the time spent obtaining the Cls. The Cls has mainly niche uses (Bandos, Staking), thus it's usually a better idea to spend the 200,000 tokens on a Chaotic Rapier as a first weapon.

As for good PvMing; It really depends on what you'd like to kill. What do you think you'd want to kill? For example, the gear for Nex is radically different to the gear for Bandos. For a monster like Nex, a Pernix item would be extremely useful, and so would a Divine Spirit Shield. I don't think 99 prayer is really necessary for good PvMing, as 95 is usually sufficient for most of the things you are likely to do.

Enhanced Elite Excalibur (obtainable from completing the Seers' Village Diary (elite)) is also very useful as it offsets most of the damage dealt by the consumption of an Overload, saving food.

The Fremmenik Elite Diary is also very useful too, as noted by the other posters above me.

You want the obvious max combat stats - that has been covered. I believe you do not gain more prayer restore from a super prayer potion at 98 prayer and beyond, might just want to get 99.

You also need rigour/piety and turmoil unlocked. Augury is not needed, rapid renewal used to be good but it isn't anymore.

Rapier, maul, crossbow are pretty much required, cls can be useful so you should get it to be in the top segment but it's not very awesome most of the time. Staff is nice for DKs, maybe a TDs mass if you feel like doing random stuff :P. Arcstream for DKs.

You want ancient magics for DKs, lunars are less crucial but nice for slaying at times, also useful for farming, which can make a lot of the money you need for prayer and herblore. I don't want to bother listing what quests you need, so I'll just say quest cape. Ardougne 3/4 is good despite what Losing said, mainly for the prayer bonus and still good offence. It's mainly useful if you are at places that take a while to get to & depend on prayer, but if staying power doesn't matter then fire cape is indeed better. EEE is mainly good for DKS and Kree'arra, at other places you use claws. BA gear is all useless in bosshunting really.

For Nex especially but also for other bosses you want at least one (piece of) divine, elysian, pernix or torva, pernix coif is nice and cheap but not good for meleeing most of the time.

You need claws, Bandos, Karil's, Armadyl, ranger's boots, fire cape, barrows gloves, d boots, infinity boots, soul wars cape, alerter, elite void set with ranged & melee helmets and deflector, unholy book, dragon defender, fury, imbued onyx/berserker/seers/archer ring. A good shield such as a dragonfire shield is also nice for Graardor for example, but in general arcane + spectral is more useful. You need a zspear for corp and probably also bgs. A 3rd age ranged coif is good for some nexing setups I understand.

Then you also need overloads, if you get most of your herblore xp through super prayer + overload all the way to 99 it should be enough for a while :P.

Rapier with turm and ovls is about as efficent as cls if not more efficent

Also may i suggest that you dont say Cls is best for bandos when you dont have access to that weapon

Unless you get overloads and 99 combats, you could do dag kings.

What you'd need would simply be a chaotic rapier and crossbow. Ice barrage is nice (and thus chaotic staff), but it isn't really needed. Eagle eye kiteshield would help, but thats only if you are willing to buy that over a maul

Whoa, I wasn't going to post in this thread but this post was urging me to press the reply button.

So, are you saying that just because everyone says it's true, that it's indeed true? That's simply an appeal to authority/popularity, thus not a very strong argument.

Cls may be slightly superior to Chaotic Rapier at Bandos (assuming a shield is worn, instead of defender), but that difference may not be sufficient to justify the time spent obtaining the Cls. Fire cape is always better than ardy cape

Anti poison totem sucks

Asn is worth it for tribridding dks

Please give justification for this post. Your post does me no good unless you allow me to see exactly why you consider something better than something else. the general consensus around here is that ardy cape 3 is better - if firecape is indeed better please tell me why. do this for all of these items. thanks.

Fire cape's strength bonus helps with dps more than ardy cape in mosts circumstances.

Anti poison totem is replacing the shield slot, losing either valuable defensive stats or offensive stats from a ddefender. Just use super anti's.

The mage bonuses from ASN when tribridding is obviously worth it.
