chance of getting barrows items?

so what is the "drop rate" on getting an item?

If I'm not mistaken, the chance of getting an item is 1/16 after all the brothers are killed. I believe it was also found that kill count does not influence a barrows drop, only the extras (runes, bolts, coins, etc).

I know this isn't the answer you want, but it's honestly completely random.

I've had dry streaks of 250+ (and that isn't even too bad, I've heard of much worse), but on other occasions I've gotten an item twice in a row.

From my experience it's about 1 in 50 but your luck may vary.

Also 1/15 to 1/20 sounds about right to me but like it was said before it can be completely random as i've also had dry streaks of 200+ chests.

I personally kill the 6 brothers, then 5 monsters to get a killcount of 11. Any higher than 11 gives you a chance of getting a D Med, which is kind of a slap in the face. (Which I believe most people want to avoid?)

I don't think brothers count as KC anymore.

 

I get 3 KC and that gives me runes back, also wear a ring of wealth for additional prayer pots from the chest - they usually lengthen my run by about 3 chests.

 

Anything above 20 KC is pointless.

Most of the money you make is from barrows items. You should only get KC (other than brothers) if you are healing with Guthans or soul split, but I don't recommend Guthans at all because it's so slow and you should be able to flash ss to full health on at least 4 brothers, so yeah.
