Quyneax
I'd like all further posts about this to stop here, thank you. I have the following to say on this: No it's not efficient, not even irl efficient because chopping ivy or fishing rocktail would be better afk uses of your time. Edit@xpx: Saw you were already posting when I posted this so I guess you're good. But no more! xpx
I have a very high understanding of opportunity cost, I am halfway done with my MBA, but you CANNOT think of opportunity cost or efficiency and only consider that in the bubble of RS. So it may be the most efficient thing to do WHILE you are in the game, but that is incorrect, because you are mising half of the equation, which is RL. The most efficient thing would be something that happens in the game even when I am not playing it. You have to consider your non RS time in the equation, which most people dont. If I am Afking, I am accomplishing something in RS AND in RL, that is true efficiency, not just maximizing one half of the equation. Most are failing to factoring in the RL efficiency. If I am 100% dedicated to RS, I might be efficiently accomplishing a RS task, but I am 0% efficient at some RL task, that does have an actual opportunity cost, not a ficticious RS opportunity cost. It's not that cannonballs aren't a good moneymaker, they aren't even a good afk moneymaker, thus why i mentioned better alternatives. Also, while afking, you will still have to pay attention to the game and thus can't focus completely on RL. If you used nex as a moneymaker, at 8m an hour, you could have 100% rl efficiency for 28 hours for every 1 hour of moneymaking, totaling a 96% rl efficiency, easily beating being tied to a computer for 29 hours. brad1431
it sounds like I wont be making cballs, thanks for the ones that gave real advice. And to the troll who said I am trolling, first that is a stupid word that only kids use. second by definition, you typig to say that someone is trolling, that is in fact trolling, since it has nothing to do with smithing cballs. niffin, sorry I didnt know that I had to type so formally on an internet chat of mostly 12-16 year olds.... range- very clever, but I cant RS at work
jjjon123
It all depends on how afk you want it... Cannon balls is GREAT if you want absolutely minimal runescape contact while still making money. All you have to do is a few clicks every 3 minutesGreat for multitasking with other activities that require much attention like writing a school paper or something similar. If you are watching tv or a movie then you might want something that makes a little more money with a little more attention such as wc, smithing bars, or making unf. If your iming with a friend irl then you can do something that makes MORE money but with More attention such as manchzna slayer, green or blue dragons ect. It all depending how much attention you want to give. :-) Sorry if my previous post came over as ?trolling? was just pointing out how slow money cannonballs are. Hope this helps 1,000 F2P Total Level Reached 10/8/10 ! brad1431
that is a good point, I would mostly be doing stuff around the house like laundry, vacuuming, or watching tv or checking my fantasy baseball team. I dont care if it isnt the best AFK money, as long as it isnt so bad that it is attrocious if that makes any sense. It doesnt have to be the most efficient AFK task, I just wanted to know if it is so bad that it isnt even worth bothering to do. I dont mind it being slow and not great money, but if it is slow and horrible money, then I wont bother. If that makes sense. I need them for cannoning, so why not just save the cash and make them, as long as it isnt horrible. cutting ivy makes no sense as there is no end point, it is just exp for the sake of exp. Rocktails are good too, I am 97 fishing so that makes some sense, plus I just bought 30K living minerals at ge for an average price of 340. Mostly to flip, though
brad1431
please show me where in the rules it states that for every second your character is logged onto RS you must have at least one finger on the keyboard..... talk about trolling..... Quyneax
The Jagex rules state:AFK training is Away From Keyboard training. While you are playing on our games, you must be at the computer. Away-from-keyboard training is not allowed, and you should log out when you leave the computer. So that means you would be able to watch TV, maybe fold laundry or play other games on your PC - but vacuuming is almost certainly not allowed. All_Is_Great
This guy is now #1 anti-efficiency troll? Brings back memories of the time when someone on here smithed cballs to 99 smith and bought a phat from it. The prices just aren't right anymore tbh. pgmr185
Going way back to the original topic, doing the math it seems like it would only take 2 - 2.5 hours to make the cannonballs that he needs. Not a huge investment in time if its the way he wants to play the game. It probably wouldn't be a good "moneymaker", but it seeks perfectly OK to make some cannonballs this way if that's what he wants.
brad1431
thanks pgmr, that is kind of what I thought, it is something different to do for an hour or two, god forbid it isnt the most efficient thing for that hour or two.
