Its just something that I found to be unique and interesting. Given that many people here are gamers (its a forum about a game, after all), many here I figure would have an appreciation for such a concept.

 

After all, I am fairly sure most of us have played Mario at some point.

 

Though its a concept that I could see working with other games as well. Personally, I would think Zelda would be a interesting theme for a room.

I would say it depends on your definition of "discuss" really. To me, I would say that a topic should be interesting enough that the people who read it would consider it either fun, informative, or debatable. I consider this particular topic to be the fun type. Replies don't have to always be strictly on topic either, especially in the less serious posts.

 

As far as discussion value, that varies. Many news posts have little to no discussion value, as often its little more than replies about how shocked people are about what happened. That being said, they probably have a place as people do often like reading them.

 

Generally a topic does not need to be extremely serious in nature. Otherwise, what you usually end up with is a board full of rehashed topics about politics and religion by posters who generally lack the maturity to discuss said topics to begin with. In other words, pretty much how the Off-Topic board is at the present.

Now that's pretty interesting. Sure beats my boring and unoriginal bathroom.

I don't think people should decorate their houses like that because it demonstrates a lack of a life.

There's really not enough diversity in opinions either. We may have opposing viewpoints, but that usually consists of a few nutjobs posting something and causing the majority of users viewing the thread (who share basically the same viewpoint) to jump in on the argument, leading to 10+ page [cabbage]fests. We don't have cool discussions anymore. :(
