This is seriously one of the most annoying things on the forum, when people end their post with this sarcastic yellow blob, as if trying to prove a point and being smug about it.

There are so many better ways of ending a post, but as long as this smiley remains, some will choose to use this annoying yellow face, to great flaming effect.

 

Therefore, my suggestion is to remove it.

Yes but :rolleyes: is used extremely often and all it does is annoy others. If you had a good point or argument in your post, something like that shouldn't be necessary.

I'm against the removal of this smiley. Other than the fact that it would damage a near-uncountable number of posts, there are people who use it to its' proper effect. Heck, check out my post history, and you'll see proper usage here and there. ;)

 

Also, people could try and make equally useless arguments against a lot of the other smileys. The thing is, each has their use, be it for sarcasm, jokes, or even that "Let alone that, what about this bigger concern?" kind of issues, just to name a few. But should we let ourselves devolve into family-unfriendliness through removal, and therefore lack, of these emotes? Not just "NO!", but "HELL NO!!!", and that's quite well why we should never remove any. <_<

 

Now, if you want something I might support, it would be slowing down the animation of the eyes. They DO move too fast, but that's no reason to junk it. You just simply pull it into an image editor, slow the transitions, and post up the new version over the old one. That would be how to do it right. :idea:

 

BTW, just for reference, I rolled my eyes when I saw this thread. I was thinking "Oh no, not again...", because if you let alone the fact that certain emotes are hard-wired into the IPB Forums, there's also the fact that junking some things is simply bad when they could just be re-worked. :roll:

 

Which reminds me... I can think of a few emotes worth adding to our forum's repertoire. :D

Actually, I wasn't doing this because of the emote that Ginger_Warrior used, but because of the "Trollololol" following. Sort of a +1 on it in an easily-misinterpretable format, which I see you fell right into. I'll admit though, I should have wrote "...this thread is a bad idea of a trolling..." on that sentence part as I look at it in retrospect, as that would have made it far from misinterpretable. :lol:

I was being facetious... I mean it was like really obvious. Like when someone posts a "I hate x" thread on Rants and everyone replies by doing the thing they hate. Of course Saradomin isn't trolling.

 

In all seriousness, I don't think it should be removed, especially when other emotes could easily be used to achieve the same effect.

In my blind rage, I seem to have forgotten that the irritation factor lies not in the smiley, but intrinsically with the joker on the other side.

It does stand out as one of the more annoying ones, but now that I love at them again, I can see them all being used in the same way, pretty much.

Yeah, sure, they could change the image. Maybe to something crazy, like "Bugsby's Expressive Single Digit", which would be downright ridiculous. But, the retroactive damage would be insane. Further, as Das said, people will still be irritating no matter what's put there. So it wouldn't really help to change it. :boohoo:

 

 

Anyway, your two posts above, the post-that-will-likely-be-zapped just after, and my post are all beside the point. Thread died with Saradomin_Mage, and the two of you have just necro'd it into an off-topic lunacy, as well as drawn an equally looney post with a comic reference from me.
