Boris5000
I recieved an Email from "Runescape" - about 5 minutes ago, I figured it was just letting me know that my membership had expired but I found this:[hide=Email Body][/hide] I avoided the link (ofc) and I went onto the real runescape website and went onto account management to see what I can find around there. No in-game messages/e.t.c...Hovering over the URL shows "runescapeintro.oo-runescape.in(e.t.c...the legit stuff)" I wonder which account I was trying to sell... Sorry if this is in the wrong section. Cheat
Not out of the blue but when you change your email address they do.. I know a friend who was got by that at the same time he sent an email registration change and at the same time he was sent a phishing email based on a email registration change - entered his password and account name blah de blah you know the story - saved by his bank pin though. Kaida23
Scammers are getting better and better at making phishing emails look real. As Monky said, JaGex will not email you out of the blue like that. If they need to contact a player, they use the internal message system. Besides, if they thought you were selling your account they would simply ban it. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P. Even Jagex has even started emailing about Runescape updates too, I had one for the Fremennik Sagas the other week so much for them not emailing you anymore. Thanks Gradeskip93 for my awesome sig! If they need to contact a player, they use the internal message system. Besides, if they thought you were selling your account they would simply ban it. Yeah like they ban the bots - o waitkidding but yeah jagex do email you now if you have your email registered but I don't think it would ever be an email like this regarding account security or anything, that's a typical scare tactic to get you to click the link like the antivirus virus (ironic?) I had recently that says I had a million trojans and to download totallynotakeyloggerhonest[Caution: Executable File] now or else my computer would explode with the force of a million suns. Anyways if jagex emails you legit or not just never click on a link obviously or just do what I do and never check your emails, ultimate safety! Wessan
It is always a nice courtesy to let others know about the different scams going about so everyone can stay informed. I thank the OP for this. I have not been scammed since I was a little noob back in 2002, but I am glad to see what scammers are doing so I have the knowledge and others do to. As G.I.
