The community is getting really bad

Okay, I bet lots of you agree with me on this. The Runescape community is really going downhill. Just today I logged on to cut some yew logs when a level 74 started saying "o nice nooby blk t helm noob"

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I quickly turned my public chat to friends. Then hey, my inventory is full of yew logs. I walk to the bank. At the southern Falador gate, this level 63 with rune (g) runs past, then stops. I walk past him. He calls me a noob and runs on. Two within 10 minutes. I'm appauled.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And, just today I logged on to the tip.it forums to find a PM waiting in my message inbox. Guess what the subject of the message is? "

 

 

 

Yeah shut up"

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And the actual message?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Your account names suck.

I'm really disappointed to take a break from all these clan invitations that my friends have shoved in my face and anoyying noobs who harass me about how stupid my characher looks. EDIT: Now I'm back at the yew cutting. This level 56 says "blk t is boring" "zzzz...." "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..............". Then , 6 seconds later, "wc lvl?" :roll:

Well, the only situation in which I ever have problems is when I go to cwar, where I get begged for arrows, runes, and I get called a noob by some guy I just killed. I think Jagex needs to advertise RS to a more mature audience, I haven't really experienced much idiocy in RS so I don't think it's that bad but maybe if they stopped advertising on such places as miniclip and looked at a better audience.

this kind of behaviour can more prevelant when rs2 came out and with the huge increase in new members. Members world used to be pretty good no rudness or swearing well not much but it became too much. i guess it must be alot worse now.

If you are truly bothered by some player who keeps harassing you, report them. It is an option under report abuse.

It is weird how I hear a lot of people complaining about being called "noob". I have not had many people doing that with me or its likely I dont notice it when they do as I couldnt give a damn to what they say.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As with any MMORPG, you will always have players wanting to express their anti-social 1337n355 through the game chat instead of in real life where they may be too afraid to speak up. Just ignore them and go about your business as they are not really causing you any harm.

Uh it does really annoy me. Back in Runescape Classic everything was so much nicer, instead of people asking for free stuff, you got given stuff without asking. I got given a Rune Pickaxe whilst only level 40 without asking a thing. I couldn't use it so I trained till I could.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The other day I was PKing with my clan, got called a noob because I went into single when I met a level 100 clan. I didn't run, prayer etc.. I just went to an area where the fighting was fair..

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Another thing I get called a noob for is when I'm cleaning my bank, I just drop all the item that I don't need, things gained from slayer such as addy. And I get called a noob for dropping things for other people. :?

The weird thing is I think RS in general is more appealing to an older player. All of the non-combat skills, the poor graphics etc. Personally I'm in my late 20s. Everyone I know closer to their earlier 20s and younger plays world of warcraft because the graphics are better.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The most problematic people in RS seem to be kids and people that live in the pacific rim. I can't tell you the number of times someone asks in engrish, "runes can I hav? plz." "No." "noob" runs off.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Although these folks that run around saying noob noob noob are a bit annoying, they identify themselves as noobs by using the term. The only times I call someone a noob is when they're griefing for no reason than thier own entertainment (IE, closing doors over and over, xp leeching in a multi-combat area, etc).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We were all lvl 8 once trying to scrap together enough gold to buy full bronze. I try to be polite and helpful to the low leveled people so that perhaps as they level up they will be polite to the next generation. I guess the core problem we're discussing here is a broad lack of manners in many of the players... :(

Heh, i remember the last time i was cutting magic logs i got a spinich roll. To relieve the boredom of waiting for trees i started joking about how it was the most amazing titem i'd ever had etc, and got a stream of abuse from some random guy. Then, when a couple of people tried to calm things down he started ranting at them too.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I find it hilarious, and it surprises me that so many people get worked up about it; who cares if some overexcited kid across the other side of the world has a tantrum? Some of the stuff they come out with (especially insults and attempts to get around the filter) are pure comic gold.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

They make fools of themselves, and you don't rise to the bait. They either carry on ranting and making you laugh, or realise how stupid they look and leave sheepishly. Either way it's win win.
