Thus
Yes I know I am bumping an incredibly old topic, but I thought some of you would want to read what we thought dark beasts were going to be back then. No, I really dont give a flying cabbage Don't bump old stuff.
noble_skull
You can't even get into the front door without the outfit on. I tryed. Also if you are missing any part of the complete mourners outfit they will not let you in they say : " Who are you "? What I have been doing is stocking my bank up with loads of mourners cloths that way I have more inventory room to stay longer for the drops. I will just keep dropping the outfits, camp there as long as I can, leave and when I want to return again I have another outfit sitting in my bank. :D BTW:Before people start screaming " OMG!! Don't tell everyone the secret. I know many of people who are doing this now and the word is out amongst the 90 slayers so this news is nothing that needs to be hid any longer. Not to hard to figure this out if you been there before, just some took a little longer to figure it out. You can kill the mourners in the basement they drop the full outfits. Wakka found that out, I was cleaning the outfits still. :wall: EDIT: Yes, I have done ME 1 & 2 quest. Just be honest with me: Do you really, REALLY think you will get a bow before your first prayer pot is empty? Dark beasts still drop bad, they just get a unique drop. You're way too optimistic about them, and otherwise you'd find out the hard way. Unless, of course, Jagex also tweaks the existing drops... Nah. I'm pretty sure they won't. This is not a rant towards you, I just don't like the hype that's around this update (similar to the flopped jewellry update). People are too hyped up. Umm that's not why she drops it. She said specifically in her post she dropped it to stay longer, not in the event she got a drop before she had an open inventory spot. She drops it to avoid running out of inventory space. The mourner suit is 6 spaces, which is quite helpful, especially if the dark beasts don't drop anything else worth picking up. wakka102
they dont drop anything of interest (accept for the occational rune Item or death talisman). I've killed lots of them :) i hope they don't come out next week, I wont be here  . I've got 20 mourner outfits ready to go :)
baalboy5
some mod said on the forums a new drop (im guessing a staff or bow, not a melee thing) would be added when there were enough 90 slayers so that the item would start off cheap and people wouldnt become instant billionaires like s1acker, fir3g0d and 0ddball did. funny how this guy was exactly right  Yah i know. Funny how people cant predict a week in advance (new skill is coming with the varrock update!! 733T blah blah) and this guy guessed right about something happening a year from then. how they become instand billionars? what skill update? Don't you know the first rule of MMO's? Anyone higher level than you has no life, and anyone lower than you is a noob. People in OT eat glass when they are bored. Ok bud, then explain to me how dropping the outfit gives you the ability to stay there longer (in other words, bring more prayer potions) when you are already there? The only reason you would like to drop the clothes, would be to take the drops. Or am I missing something huge that Jagex updated when I wasn't watching? QueenValerie
For one I like staying for the herbs it's nice to be able to free up 6 inventory space to pick up some good herbs. What is wrong with getting a little excited about a new drop coming out, it's what we all look forward to on the game is it not? Nothing wrong with being optimistic try it sometime you may even enjoy it. :-w If it's a flop Oh well it's a game and a game is to have fun and enjoy yourself. Aneron
Dropping the outfit gives you more space to pick up drops. That's it. Seeing as she picks up drops I would say that it helps you stay longer, just my view...
Tbfgraphx14
I never even noticed this thread was 17 months old  I'm like, 397 90+ Slayers wtf? :P I wanted the dark bow to be a cross bow. The majority of their drops are garbage ( black axe, 2hander, etc) with an occasional herb drop. Bringing a set to drop won't give you any real advantage unless their drops are fully overhauled by jagex on their release. And on the first week or so you'd be a silly rabbit if you don't immiediately hop and sell the bow to make max profit. Camping down there til you have a full load of stuff would be hahahaha nub. I wouldn't flame queenv for wanting more inv space. But most ppl will be praying on them, their prayer will be more indicitive of how long they stay per load, not inventory space. No problem in stocking up now tho, but not something i'd go overboard on. Wilhuff
I've read in Axe Man Jack's guide that they use a magic attack as soon as you try to safespot them. Does this also mean that they mage you as soon as you attack from a distance or only when there is no way of reaching you? If this is not the case, a cannon will certainly speed things up. I was wondering, since I can't kill them yet, but intend on getting 90 slayer before the update.

Since the area is not multi-attack. ranging or maging from a distance with Mage Protect on and using a cannon would lock up several Dark Beasts. Of course, cannons are so slow in rotating that it's possible to steal monsters away from them. which I'm sure everyone will be doing. Cannons would probably only help after a while when you can find an empty world to yourself off-hours. And some of the other decent drops that people will not want to leave or alch are Rune Kites, Half Keys, higher end gems (including Dragonstones), Death Talisman, and expensive herbs. So 6 extra spaces are worthwhile. And if you want to get 100K for your Death Talisman, sell it now. The market is likely to get flooded with them soon. My idea would be to melee with protect melee on and use the cannon on one dark beast at the time. It's possible to position your cannon in a way that it will hit the monster twice per round. In combination with a whip and super set monsters die very fast. My concern would be that if the cannon hits a monster you're not yet attacking, it might start maging you and do a bit of damage while you're running at it. I think it will first try to walk towards you and melee, but I'm not sure as I can't slay them yet.

So cannon WILL trigger their mage attack. Get your mage protect and melee switching right and you will survive I think.
