Relatively easy Herblore question - premaking unf

Recommended Posts

Just a quick question. Decided I may as well buy 99 herblore because I felt like it.

Question is, should I pre-make all of the unfinished pots before the upcoming bonus weekend and the complete them with the secondaries during the bonus xp time to maximise xp gain during that time? Or is it the case that starting from scratch and completly making the unfinshed and finished pots to maximise xp gain in that time?

Thanks for your help.

You don't get experience for making (unf) potions. I suggest making the unfinished ones before the weekend, although if I were you I would just buy the unfinished pots instead of making them myself.

So you get no xp for making the unf and instead get the full exp for adding the secondary to an unf pot?

If that's the case then yeah, i'll buy a load of unf pots in preperation instead, thanks.

Not much i can add to this other than 'Yep.' making unf pots gives no experience and very little if any profit, you'd be best just buying the unfinished potions and save them till double xp. (Buy sooner rather than later, as prices are sure to rise as xp weekend gets closer)

Has the date of xp weekend been released yet?

Exactly. Making unfs is 0 exp. All of the experience comes from cleaning the herbs and converting the unfs to finished potions.

Just a note: much of the time the unf pots cost more than the herb + vial. Much of the time it's worth it to buy the unfs and take the time saved and go make money, but there are some where it's more worth it to make the unfs yourself (of course, this all depends on what you deem 'good' income per hour).

Has the date of xp weekend been released yet?

Not yet. Usually they announce it 2-4 weeks before the actual BXPW. Assuming it will be the first weekend in Sept (as per the pattern) they will likely announce it within the next 2 weeks.

Important!

If you make your pots into unf before the weekend, as you should, then make sure you have a scroll of cleansing. Without it you might as well just buy the unf pots from the GE.

It's a lot easier then that for an idiot to sound smart on the internet.

That's exactly what you're doing right now... just saying.

Yeah, this is the reason you can buy unf's so cheap and why i don't recommend making them yourself. Even with the scroll you'll only be saving a few 100k/hour and i'm sure you're capable of making faster/funner money.

As for the bonus weekend, i hope it's not too soon... I just spent most of my bank on the bones for turmoil, i want to have at least 100m to pay for herblore and take advantage of the weekend.

Assuming they don't ruin herblore this time around. They have the nasty habit of saying 'Xp weekend! Make the most of it! --Oh, no, don't make THAT good of it, no summoning or prayer altars allowed!--'

It depends on the potion, but no unfinished potion making is over 2m/hr unless you're very lucky buying them. Even 1m/hr is doubtful. Since the scroll was released, unf prices have gone down compared to herb prices.

It's not just the GE guide price, but also the effective buy/sell price. Making unfinished potions essentially requires a little merchanting.
