Well, since I just came back to RuneScape, I kinda need to know what the best combat gear is nowadays. I'm talking about just general melee combat gear. Also, refer to my avatar pic on the left to see what I have right now and my stats on the bottom to see what I can currently get. (And no D'eering weps or quest requirement weps.)

Glory -> Fury (~6.8m)

Dragon boots -> Steadfast boots (~7.7m GE, no idea of street)

Aside from that, there isn't much else you can improve without doing quests, slaying to level 80, or dg'ing.

I was thinking about a fury and I have a fire cape already. What's at 80 slayer that would be better? and which quests would I have to do to get what you would recommend? maybe ill actually do quests, at least ill have a goal set instead of grinding skills.

 

And I have about 55m cash lying around, and am still in the process of getting 99 fish with rocktails, so I have more money coming in daily so cash shouldnt be a problem.

At 80 slayer you can upgrade your whip with a vine.

I recommend doing all the quests, they all reward you in one way or another.

 

Also, you can simply bypass whip+vine and get the better alternative, the chaotic rapier.

Yes chaotic rapier is significantly better than the whip, w/ or w/o the vine. There are also a bunch of worthwhile dg rewards if you intend on ever skilling.

 

If you don't them already, pick up some claws for speccing while training.

 

Assess what you want to eventually do. If you have bossing on your mind, you'll definitely want to consider

 

88+ Summoning for uni

95 prayer for turmoil/ss

91+ herblore for exts/ovls

 

Personally, I think prayer should be your primary goal since you seem to like to focus on melee, but getting summoning up to at least 68 will give you access to many useful familiars (terrorbird, war tort, and bunyip)

Best melee gear (in general) is:

 

Torva helm

Torva plate

Torva legs

Barrows gloves

Steadfast boots

Amulet of fury

Berserker (i)

Completionist cape

Chaotic rapier / chaotic longsword / chaotic maul

Dragon defender

If I had the money I'd replace the Bandos with Torva, but here is my melee setup.

 

Slayer Helmet, Helm of Nez

Fury, or Glory

Bandos Chestplate, or Fighter's Torso, or barrows armour

Bandos Tasset, or verac's skiirt

(Barrows) Gloves

Chaotic Rapier(I don't have this yet personally, but I'm working towards it, for now I use the wined whip.)

Fire Cape

Bersker's Ring(Onyx Ring(i) might be better, I'm not willing to invest the time though)

Dragon Defender(Dragonfire Shield could be better for some situations)

I'd probably use the Reverence Aura, it's up to you though.

 

There could be something better, but this with Extremes is usually great.

I've killed about 310 mithrils in the last two days or so and they didn't seem to have too high of defence. I was using a glory and ring of wealth instead of fury and zerker ring (i) (using rapier, d def, overloads, and turm) and I seemed to hit about 60-70% of the time. Sure 310 kills isn't a huge sample size, but I'd still say miths don't have high enough defence to justify using an onyx (i) over a zerker (i).

Sell Bandos + whip vine, get extremes. Unlock piety if you have not already done so. Do not slayer more until you have extremes. More preferably, do not slay more until you have extremes, turmoil and max str gear but that's not very reasonable.

I agree with everything above, except, I would still slay with Super Sets.

Slaying with supers is timewaste. You could be doing it with exts/ovls.

Not everyone has the time to get extremes and ovls. You may, but you can't expect everyone to. Advice is given so the lcd can understand.
