I haven't got a clue. Guess it depends on the person. Some people say it hurts, others say they don't feel anything.

Lip will be very painful and you won't want to smile for a while. The lip has more nerves in it than the eyebrow.

Eyebrow is not as painful, but still worse than ear piercing as they have to use a needle with a canular as opposed to a gun. Get a ring in the eyebrow, not a bar to start off with. A ring is easiest to clean, but more likely to catch.

You can expect them to bleed for a few days, then for a month or two they may ooze pus occasionally. Both will require cleaning regularly or you will get infected.

I have 2 eyebrow piercings and 1x 10mm tunnel in my left ear. The tunnel was the most painful by far as I didn't wait until it had healed properly before stretching.

I've had doses of piercings before I joined the army.

Only left is tongue, but I must say lip piercing isn't that painful. Never ad an eyebrow piercing because I don't like it...

BME-Zine:

"She opened the packet with the clamp in and clamped my lip, all the time explaining what she was doing and asking if I was alright, which I was. Then she got the needle, I wasn't looking to see if she changed gloves but she did every other time, so I assume so! I felt the needle [puncture] the surface of my skin as she found the placement but assumed she was still just pushing the needle on the surface of my skin, until suddenly I saw it come through the other side. That's how little pain there was, a slight pressure and hotness, like being [puncture]ed with a needle. Despite all the stories I'd heard about it not hurting, I was genuinely surprised by how little pain there was. She took out the needle, leaving the plastic canulla in my lip, and inserted the jewellery, which didn't hurt but felt strange, as I could feel the metal going right through the inside of my lip. She screwed on the ball, tightened it with little plier things, and handed me a mirror. I loved it, it was in the perfect placement and looked gorgeous. I was desperate to go home and clean all the purple smudges off the skin around it, and when I did, it looked even better! I loved it..."

Really makes you wonder why anyone would want a piercing in the first place. They don't make you look particularly classy either.

Don't you understand? They make you 'alternative' and being 'alternative' is cool these days. You need to watch more MTV.

My sister got her lip peirced, it's not that bad, but i don't plan on doing it myself, i'd be fiddling with the piercing too much.

Also, pretty much any other place just looks horrible, i don't mind one or two, but having any more than that is rediculous.

Oh yeah, and mtv isn't alternative, mtv2, kerrang, the amp and scuzz is alternative :P

Don't have any piercings, and never would, ever. The novelty will probably wear off in a few years.

The novelty is wearing off with mine, but that's the thing with piercings - they close up if you take the ring/bar/whatever out.

I don't have any piercings. The only one I'd consider would be a nipple piercing. If you're gonna have one done, do it to the max!

Hardly! You'd have to get one a bit farther south to be "to the max!" 8)

Lip piercing won't hurt at all. I got mine done in June of last year and hardly felt a thing (without any numbing agent either). I hate needles, so trust me, if i can get it done, anyone can.

Just make sure you take a good look aorund the studio before you get it done. Make sure the place is clean, and that you're comfortable with the people who will be doing the piercing. Any good piercer will answer any questions you have, as well as offer 'aftercare' (usually a sort of leaflet telling you how to care for your piercing). Trust me on this next one; do everything the aftercare sheet tells you to - the last thing you want is an infection.

Having your lip pierced will make it hard to eat for a couple of days, and you will probably catch the back of the bar on your teeth quite frequently (which hurts like hell), so just be careful and prepare to eat things like soup for a couple of days. I'd advise you to use mouthwash after every meal or snack (to keep your mouth germ free), and you should also use a saline solution (or salt water) to clean the 'jewellery' twice daily. This will vary from piercer to piercer, but it's what i did and my piercing has never given me any troubles.

I'm by no means an expert on these type of things but i do know it's worth looking after the piercing properly.

Kirk and Lars I could handle. At the same time.
