chenw
Yesterday, December 6th, 2011, a date which will live in memory. The Skills of Runescape was suddenly and deliberately changed by the JMods and designers of Jagex Ltd. (Bonus points for finding where this was from). The latest update, Tool Belt and Money Pouch, forever changes the way we do certain things, such as Gem Cutting, Glass Blowing, Potion Making, etc. What is this Tool Belt? Tool belt is a place where you can store various tools used in skilling on your character in a separate place, therefore eliminating having to remember carrying all the tools all the time (many here have experienced how frustrating that could be), as well as saving inventory space. Oh, and all items added to your toolbelt loses their weight, so even having your belt full, you will still weigh 0kg when not carrying anything. Where is this belt thing? I can't find it! :( The Toolbelt is located on your 'Worn Equipment' screen, on the bottom right hand corner. The Money Pouch is located underneath the minimap circle, just to the left of the 'World' button How do I use it? I can't find my belt to use with my items! That's what will change the way you skill in RS, forever. The toolbelt does not require you to use items on it or vice versa, like the tools used to do, but it modifies the options of the said items. So for example, you used to have to use Chisel on uncut sapphire in order to cut it into a sapphire. Now, when you add a chisel to your belt, a new option will be available from the uncut gem (Craft Uncut ...). Left clicking on it will open up a Make-X interface, and then everything works normally from there. So you no longer have to tediously click on Chisel, click on gem, click on Make-all to make them, instead its just click on gem, click on make all, done. But wouldn't that...? No it doesn't. Make-X interface will now always open up when cutting a gem this way, even if there is only 1 gem in your inventory. This is a change. This was designed to prevent accidental cutting of gems while moving around in your inventory. Do I lose anything if I die? All toolbelt items and money pouch (the latter is implied by Jagex, but needs confirmation) are kept upon death. All tools added to the tool belt cannot be removed after they are added. I have a problem finding X! Here is a list of all the convenient locations that you can find the tools to add to your belt: Farming: all 5 can be bought from Farming shops. You can also withdraw them from your Leprechaun. Spade, Seed Dibber, Rake, Trough and normal secateurs. Magical secateurs cannot be added to the belt, and thus still must be withdrawn and wielded to benefit. Fishing: All tools except the Barbarian Fishing Rob can be bought in Port Sarm. Barbarian Fishing rod is find in Otto's Hut. Search the Bed. General: Bronze Pickaxe and Hatchet is available for free from Bob in Lumbridge. Machete is available from Shilo Village General Store. Pestle & Mortar from any herblore shop (such as Taverly). All other items are available from General stores or tool sheds in your PoH. Glassblower's pipe is also available from Entrana. Chart is available from the Observatory, and Watch can be made in POH or obtained from monk in Watchtower. Crafting: All moulds are available from the Al-Kharid crafting shop, except the Unholy Mold, Cannonball Mold and Chain Link mold. Unholy mold can be obtained from Spirit of Scorpious in the graveyard south of the entrance to Ourania and Red salamander Hunter area. Cannonball mold is sold by a dwarf trader at the entrance to dwarven mines SW of edgeville (the same dwarf also sells cannon parts). Chain Link mould can only be obtained after the completion of Darkness Hallowvale quest, found in the Myreque hideout in Meyerditch, search the crates in the room adjacent to the one with ladder. If you found smoke bombs, it's in the other room. What are the use option changes? Uncut and Cut gems have craft left click optionLogs have Craft left click, Light as a right clickMolten Glass have craft left clickCoconuts have break left clickBarbarian fishing catches have Fillet left click Everything else functions the same as before. Spade will only work from your toolbelt if used for farming. Treasure trail and Barrows still need a spade in your inventory. Why can't I add X to my belt?! Only the lowest quality of any tool can be added to the belt, IE you can only add Bronze pick and Hatchet, you cannot add any higher ones. Jade, Opal and Red Topaz Machetes do not add to the belt. Sextant do not add to the belt because it a tool used by itself. Lockpick and thread do not add to the toolbelt because they are consumables. Flametaer hammer from Temple building also do not add (a perculiarity). Dwarven Army Axe also does not add. Barb-Tail harpoon does not add. Magical Secateurs do not add. Oily fishing rod does not add. Where's my money?! All cash picked up, collected, obtained or withdrawn now automatically goes into your money pouch. To see how much money you have left in your money pouch, right click on the coins icon just below the Minimap circle, to the left of the 'World' button, and select 'Toggle'. This will switch the display of the cash you have remaining on and off. You can also use the right click to examine the money, telling you the amount of coins you have in detail, or withdraw, in which case the money will turn up in your inventory. How do I trade? Everytime I try to withdraw money, it jumps me out of my trade screen! Just below the 'Trading with: XXX' line, there is a '+ Money from pouch'. Click on that, it will withdraw any amount of cash you desire straight from your money pouch onto your trade screen. Clicking on the money pouch icon itself will jump you out of trade screen. EDIT: To crewbies who happen upon this guide. You can use this guide if it is good enough. Just send me a PM and go ahead. Kaida23
Nicely done, chenw. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. chenw
The only thing I can see making a large impact is that it is now possible to craft 9 d'hide bodies per inventory of D'leather as opposed to 8, due to the removal of needle from the inventory, making 27 spaces for leather. Otherwise, the difference in speed in preparing crushed nests etc for herblore would have a minor effect (an inventory of 27 vs 28), though noticeable. The convenience of having all the tools all the time is worth the xp you get in the time saved trying to get/look for the tools you require. It is also possible now to be able to take the entire inventory of demon butler's load when training construction, before you either had to go through a long conversation, or your tools and notes would take up at least 3 inventory space. now, even if you are asking for the butler to plank them for you, you can still take all of its load (tools are now tool belted, and money is in the pouch). 6,924th to 30 hunting, 13,394th to 30 summoning, 52,993rd to 30 DivinationKiln Record (Post-EoC): W 25 - L 0, 14 Uncut Onyx, 8 Jad hits received (Best record: Two in the same kiln)Obby set renewed post update #2: 0QBD drops: 21 crossbow parts, 3 Visages, 1 Kites, 2 KitsMax Port Score [2205] Achieved: 27th April 2013 (World 2nd) Farmyard Rampage ranking: 12th, 50,000 Kills. Mirror
Thanks, I wanted a good run down of the update. If you don't add a knife, can you left click fire make? A reflection is just a distorted reality held by glass and your mind.

bladekill133
Thanks, I wanted a good run down of the update. If you don't add a knife, can you left click fire make? No. The change in the options on logs took affect as of the update. They are left click craft, right click light and use, even before you add tinderbox or knife to your toolbelt. Piu
You click left-click-firemake unfletchable logs. Eucalyptus, Mahagony, Teak logs for example.
