BGS Question

Lets say you hit 300 with bgs when using spec, then ur opponents def would be lowered by 30. But if you wait 10 mins after that and ur spec is 100% again and you hit another 300, would ur opponents str decrease by 300 or would the def still decrease by 300? I know dying (like at clan wars) resets the count, but if it goes from def to str to other stats, then why do people use bgs at corp? Ty :)

It works completely different to what you described:

 

You deal 300 Damage, your opponent's defence is decreased by 30. When you hit the same person again for 300, his defence will again decrease by 30, so on until his/her defence is at 1 (IE cannot decrease anymore), which the remaining will overflow to strength. If strength is then at 1, then it goes to attack, repeating the process.

There are very very few situations if any where, the BGS spec is more useful than any other. For one, the fight has to be a long one to even considering using this spec. The only thing I can think of is Nomad, but I guess Corp could fit as well.

From what I know, Corp is the main use for the BGS, at least for high levels. Nomad is ONE fight. Corp is a boss that you might camp at.

 

But yeah, overall there aren't that many places were BGS is that useful =/

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

If you own a rapier, it *could* actually lead to better DPS on high defense creatures than using claw specials. But the creature would need to have very high lifepoints and defense for this to work. One example i can think of is the decaying avatar from nomad's requiem. You can fight this beast as many times as you want in dominion tower, and you actually get more xp per damage than other creatures, i think it's 1.5x. With max accuracy/strength, this creature may even be one of the best training methods in runescape, thanks to BGS. (It's also afkable for about 25000 HP or until your prayer runs out. Which is pretty awesome.)

 

BGS is also useful when ranging and you only care about the range XP. There are no good range special weapons so it only makes sense to use the defense lowering special. Sadly, there are not many high defense high lifepoints creatures you'd typically range for xp. Arma can't be melee specced.

I can't think of any godsword I'd consider useful.

 

BGS at corp, but that's still beaten by swh.

It's not always due to the cost. BGS is the best special for corping for money.

Does anyone know does the degrading works with the hammer when switching between weapons?

 

Assuming it takes 3.6 seconds worth of use 1 attack it's 15700gp a spec... Expensive, but for a small team possibly worth using at corp.

Assuming it takes 1 tick, 0.6 seconds, that's only 2616gp a spec, which is practically nothing!

The pvp weapons with special attacks lose 1 charge out of the 60 they have every minute they are equipped (possibly only in combat, not sure), rounded up (so at least 1 minute).

 

The corrupt versions without special attacks lose 1 charge out of the 2000 they have every tick in combat, but if you flash them perfectly they will not degrade. At corp this means you can use Vesta's spear for free, although you do lose the ability to ss flash.
