Kid Commits Suicide after being banned by Jagex

A 21-year-old American online gaming fan of runescape, broadcasted his suicide on a Bulgarian internet forum. Named as Mitchell S., the gamer switched on his web cam and swallowed a large amount of motor antifreeze and pills after complaining about a game called runescape saying exactly " I have no life no more since my lvl 93 got banned" forum administrator Boyan Georgiev told Bulgaria's BGNES news agency on Wednesday. Other forum members thought the man nicknamed "Kudjo" was joking even though he rambled for six hours about the effects of the substances and disappeared from view several times. After he failed to appear at regular meeting spots, gamers went to his home and learnt he died in hospital.

A gamer named Kudjo or something similar DID commit suicide but that was due to school and financial problems. It looks like you just took that story and poorly butchered it, getting the facts all wrong.

Ew, scary news.

"We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. If we let players start doing this, it devalues RuneScape for others. We feel your status in real-life shouldn't affect your ability to be successful in RuneScape" Jagex 01/04/01 - 02/03/12

If someone commits a sucide because of a game, you can't really blame the game. If people close to you (friends, family, etc) can't see your problem, then it's their problem. Someone should have done something before the addiction got to that point.

Also, usually there are many other reasons too. Getting fired, divorce, financial problems and so on, the bannage (no matter what game) was just the final hit, not the main reason.

I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.

It seems it has nothing to do with runescape, I am sure jagex will announce that news to us if that happens. I remember 2 people met in the game and got married in real life. Jagex anounce that. I think there was another kid that got cancer and die or something...I don't remember.

It is possible that it is the runescape forum motivated him to suicide since that place is run by immature 13 years old kids.

helmut4lyfe1988, I already posted the ocforums link and it directly contradicts what you posted, as does the gamepolitics one.

That isn't the first time the media have butched a story involving games + deaths to futher their cause that games are bad for kids

And I hope that Thompson gets his sorry [wagon] snapped in half for his selfish [cabbage].

No references to Runescape or Jagex anywhere. This is pure fabrication by helmut4lyfe1988

Nah, it's pure fabrication by real media networks. They fabricated 90% of the story. helmut4lyfe1988 just posted ... it :-?

It's one thing to fabricate a story like that, but it must take a special level of idiocy to then cite sources which contradict it.

So I take this "Noob commits suicide" story is just crap?

In a word, yes. He quotes it like it's been written elsewhere, but it hasn't - he made it up. Somewhat tasteless if you ask me, making up stories about people who have committed suicide for your own entertainment.

Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

No sources for the original post to be backed by on, various links with a different story not even mentioning Jagex or Runescape, and Google found nothing pertaining with "Runescape Suicide".

Helmut4lyfe1988, mind posting the link you got that story from? The one that mentions Jagex or Runescape?

How does a profession differ from an occupation?

Since this is a fake story, there's no point in keeping this open.
