Dragon Eggs

Recommended Posts

I recently lost my pet red dragon hatchling due to odd circumstances (it ran away w/o confirmation, so I assume glitch) and now I am trying to get it back. I just want to ask a few questions since I repressed most of my horrifying memories of red egg hunting to begin with.

1) What is the chance of a dragon egg drop?

and

2) Does ROW have even the slightest hand in helping at all?

I sound stupid, but I am trying to avoid rage from the monkey wrench that was thrown in my direction.

1) High

2) No clue

I got my red dragon egg in 10-20 kills. I believe you should expect 1/hr at least.

2) No it does not. ROW only ever effects the are drop tables that is shared by many different monsters. Dragon eggs are not on this table.

As for rarity it seems entirely luck based, most people seem to report getting them fairly fast (<30 kills) or taking forever (1k+ kills)

That's not true. ROW affects unique drops too.

No idea if dragon eggs are included, though.

When I got my eggs, it took approimately this many kills:

Green: 700

Blue: 20

Red: 30

Black: 60

So it seems that the rate is in the 1 in double digits, I think I just had bad luck with green. Also I am not sure if the wealth helps so I can't help there but it wouldn't hurt to wear it

Not seen any proof for that and Jagex has never said it does. In fact jagex categorically stated that it does NOT effect unique drops (I think it even said this in the news psot of the last row update)

It does affect the unique drops of some monsters, such as Abyssal Demons, Mutated Jadinko Males and Guards, and Ice Strykewyrms, to name a few, which is why the RoW shines on every single kill made on these monsters. Whether or not the RoW affects Dragon eggs is a different issue, though, since Dragon eggs appear as a supplemental drop in the manner of Clue Scrolls or Draconic Visages, and hence it is highly unlikely that the RoW affects Dragon egg drops.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

Oh yeah they made it effect some, totally forgot that.

But still the supplement drop vs unique drop thing plus fact row don't shine every kill on dragons kinda suggests it has no effect on eggs.

this pretty much except blue took me around 300... red was definitely the fastest for me at around 40 or so.

Working on max and completionist capes.

http://services.runescape.com/m=news/g=runescape/ring-of-wealth-shanties-trolls-and-dungeoneering

More specifically, wearing a ring of wealth will slightly increase the drop chances of many rare items obtained from Slayer monsters and various bosses, as well as all clue scrolls. The ring will also increase your chances of getting better rewards and more items from various activities, including looting the Barrows chest, Pyramid Plunder (including sceptres and new 'jewelled statuette' loot), taking out Bork (guaranteed improvement to his drops), catching kingly implings, and further improving your chances of receiving gems while mining (if also wearing a charged amulet of glory).

QED

Also, from the update FAQ:

Was the thought behind increasing the chance of rare drops to increase their frequency substantially with the RoW? Or is it just a mediocre increase?

Mod Piesche: The Ring of Wealth will give you a small boost to the drop chance on certain rare items. There was a bug which caused certain bosses to drop rare items more often than intended, but this was detected and fixed very quickly and should only have a short-term effect on the economy.

What does the message "Your ring of wealth glows more brightly!" actually mean? It happens on every kill so it is completely pointless and does not accomplish the intended purpose of letting us know when it changes something at all.

Mod Piesche: The message lets you know that the Ring of Wealth has improved your chances for the coming drop. This does mean that it will appear every time when killing monsters that have a chance to drop unique rare items on every kill (such as abyssal demons), but the message does not necessarily mean that the drop you receive is rare.

Mod Mark: We wanted to be very clear on when the ring had a potential effect on the drop since it was the most common question about the ring before this update. You can of course filter this out if you turn your game filter on.

Does Ring of Wealth increase the chance of Draconic Visage?

Mod Piesche: No, it does not.

Mod Mark: It does effect a huge list of other things though including the sigils from the Corporeal Beast.

Does wearing a RoW increase the likelihood of finding Effigies as drops? The message from the RoW activates too frequently to actually tell what part of the drop it is effecting.

Mod Piesche: No - the ring does not improve Effigy drop chances.

It may or may not work on dragon eggs...there's no official confirmation or denial, and to my knowledge there haven't been any tests of it. I suggest checking whether the ring shines brightly when you get one as a drop. Alternately, if it shines brightly on every kill regardless of the drops, that would indicate that the monster in question has at least one item on its ordinary drop table that the ring of wealth works on...I dunno if the dragon eggs are on their normal drop table, though. They might be on a separate drop table, like charms.

I lost my red dragon too. the reason is mostly likely the dragon getting hungry while you were afk, or on a tab other than "game" or "all" and thus missed the message. This is especially the case in combat where messages about hungry pets are easily missed.

ANYWAY....

I got my first red dragon egg in about 350 kills.

The second took a bit over 100.

In my case, my dragon vanished upon releasing it due to a glitch.

Thanks for the answers, everyone. I am satisfied with the responses and will make use of them when I get my egg back. :)
