I'm having trouble connecting to the Tip.It IRC. I think it may be down since my internet is working perfectly.

I am having trouble on both my client and on the java client. Could somebody else please check.

But it'd be a difficult time keeping everyone straight, and the added troubles of the multiple channels.

Does it even have to be IRC? Wouldn't anything that allows multi-way text chats like Skype or Windows Live suffice?

Ultimately I use IRC because I am comfortable with it and other people are comfortable with it...That and unlike Maptools it works for everyone.

 

Skype is possible, but msn is way out since people are scared of it corrupting their systems or something. (Or, more accurately, their parents are)

 

 

If people have real suggestions then I would suggest posting links to the pages (Freenode isn't an option)

You could try Rizon however it doesn't seem to work for everybody if they use the webclient, one of the people I was using it to connect with kept disconnecting but the problem was fixed upon getting a client. It may require some people to get a client. irc.rizon.net

 

http://www.efnet.org/ also provides some fairly easy to use IRC which I don't think has many problems with it. It has easy connection and can be used by clients from irc.efnet.org

 

If you want to use AIM or Hotmail then you can just use a web based client, there are seven with meebo and http://www.ebuddy.com/ at the top. It certainly won't corrupt systems but is filled with advertisments and other annoying rubbish.

 

Or if you want you could host a shoutbox on your dropbox account.
