So I decided to do a bit of messing around with a drawing before sleep.

 

This was originally an image of Rail, my intended character for Nex's most recent closed game, breaking a window. I had to alter it a bit because I figured out my scanner doesn't particularly like that type of sketchbook paper. THE MORE YOU KNOW. So now, it's a demon-kid. Breaking a window.

Also, was drawing that while listening to Pandora (the internet radio thing). Nox Arcana starts playing as soon as I finish the demonic-looking effects. CREEPIEST THING EVER

 

As usual, mention anything that look really just wrong, and I'll either take it as advice or explain why I did it that way. Perhaps both. Also please mention any bit you really like, so I know what good points I have down.

I really like it, which is odd because I usually don't =P Anywho, the only thing I would suggest it adding another few layers to the gray speckling thingum around him.

On an unrelated note, I got kicked out of managing Earth in 2125...Blasted Free Markets screwed me over and there was no 'Screw the rest of the world' option...which kinda sucked because the rest of the world didn't actually help each other in any way shape or form...

Now, you may be wondering what I am talking about...if you are reading this then you probably are because this will be a massive long paragraph and if you were not interested you would have skipped way earlier.

Now, I am talking about 'Fate of the World'. Backstory is that the next 9 years go fairly badly for humans...Global Warming and what not...So the Global Environmental Organization takes over with you as their illustrious president.

 

So, because this is my 4th full game I immediately disregard Russia, South Asia, India, Oceania, Northern Africa and the Middle East...all of them have an income way below what it costs to maintain them so whats the point?

Anyway, I navigate the opening fairly well, establishing research bases in Japan, North America and Europe, as well as curbing deforestation in Latin America and South Africa, and embarking on an agriculturalisation of China.

Oh, and making sure that the people living in these places all joined the Green Party, rather than the Consumerist Party, though that took much longer.

Anyway, I progress fairly well until 2060, when Oil starts running out and things get hairy because no Oil means no agricultural vehicles, which means no food. So, to prempt this I have massively invested in Biofuels in China, which is also bursting with food, so it should be able to provide more than enough food.

Progressing...100% Fuel shortage in agriculture...Thats right, we have Oil fired power stations, electric powered cars...everything except flipping tractors! People are starting to get grumpy and the 'Famine Relief in North America' card becomes available for use, so I know I have 3 turns to fix this or it is game over.

So I search through all the news stories for the turn, and discover that Europe, my Biogenetic hub, had developed third generation biofuels. So I set down the cards for China, South Africa to buy the tech, and while I am there notice the 'Ban First Generation Biofuels'...Mouse over it 'Massively increases food by removing biofuels from crops'.

I go to Japan, at that time my most friendly state, and establish my headquarters...Fiddle around everywhere else and end my turn.

Sure enough Europe and China now have the 'Do you want to aid them' card available...so I am gonna be stuffed very shortly. Do some more fiddling, add Global First Generation Biofuels Ban to Japan and end my turn.

Next year...32% Oil Shortage...My Biofuels were only producing less fuel than it was taking to harvest them! Food supplies shoot back up as well.

However my victory was short lived...Without level 1 Biofuels and their grossly overpriced foods, the countries not included in my 'I care' net, crashed...Their economies totally wiped out, leading to global economic collapse.

Yeah, Economics Professor Retech(Its 2085, he is bound to be one by then) had been buying the grossly overpriced food and selling it at even more grossly overpriced levels...His little empire has crashed, taking the rest of the world with it.

Between 2060 and 2100 the global economy shrinks from 120 Trillion to just 40 Trillion...Losing 50 million in the last 15 years...Blasted Capitalists...

This, of course, sinks my funding, reducing me from 900 Cash to 400 Cash almost overnight, so I have lost over half!! More than this, I was charging Tobin Tax, netting 100 per region, on 4 regions, and all but North America's is wiped out the same turn, with NA's going down the next turn. So all the extra projects I was running are kaput.

I then notice that coal is practically run out, which screws over all of the factories, so I go 'Crap, how do I solve this?!' Fiddling around, fiddling around...Find the 'Coal-Free Industry' button...surely it doesn't expect me to spend 50 per turn just to prevent countries from having industrial collapse?

Now my money has decreased from 400 to 300 by the next turn, thanks to the continuing economic collapse and spiraling unemployment, so I barely have enough money to subsidies the Biochar which decreases emissions and keeps food production up in all my countries...So I can only afford it in one region.

 

Try it out in Europe...the 85% coal shortage is wiped out. Ok, so that problem solved? No...of course not...I cancel all my other projects in the vain hope of restoring employment and bringing back some prosperity...but China staunchly remains at 100% coal shortage, ergo 60% employment (Commercial and Agriculture), which crashes its cash from 120 to just 30.

And the economic crash carries on because I have got to such a high level of development in my regions that it takes a long time for them to break down...and the other regions have really...really...really screwed up.

So my total cash is roughly 100, and America finally develops Fusion, and Japan invents Nanites that can make Oil. Both cost 50 to buy from the other, and 50 to implement...Japan is producing 9 Cash, America is producing 30(and Latin America is producing 49, since it doesn't have silly industrialists :shades: )...So I plug fusion and nanotech into North America and end my turn.

However, too little, too late, the whole planet is collapsing thanks to Japan's discovery of Benthic Harvesting, which randomly spews out emissions and heat in exchange for a trifling amount of Gas.

 

My cash flow is reduced to 45 (32 coming from Latin America) and that means I can't even carry on with Fusion implementation...though by that point the Game has said 'Sorry, you are hated, you lose' so it doesn't really matter. :rolleyes:

 

Its rather a shame...by the end I was actually lowering the temperature of the Earth, rather than raising it...Emissions were still rising, which was killing me thanks to me converting all my nations to Green Party.

 

Anyway, in my next game I think I will set up a biolab in all the countries I don't care about and periodically cull their population....Hopefully at 0 they stop getting counted as economically important and so prevent the economic collapse...time will tell...sooner or later...Time will tell.

On the plus side, I probably gained huge amounts of money and lived well beyond my means for several years before that collapse in the world economy. I proceed to rebuild the global economy by not caring about the enviroment and using forced labor to build huge monuments (pyramids anyone?)

Well, the english language is actually a hideous amalgamation of around 20 other languages... So it is to be expected that some glitches pop up from time to time.

 

That said, since people are being taught that X means X, instead of being taught that X was taken from Y and Z and that is what it means, it doesn't cause as much confusion as one would expect.

Since Photography is:

Photo = of, relating to, or produced by light

Graphy = Writing or representation produced in a specified manner or by a specified process

 

So the specific way of taking taking a representation of someone, produced by light.

 

...seems fairly accurate to me.

 

while the camera should be called a photograph.

Could be, doesn't have to be, and would be confusing, since -graph means:

1. Something written or drawn: monograph.

2. An instrument for writing, drawing, or recording: seismograph.

 

And since Photographs were already used to describe photos....
