For some reason, I am dreading having Archi as captain rather than Nero.

But I am not interested in Rogue trader either way. What day will the Kingmaker session be running?

Well, two things:

First, Rogue Trader is set in a more doomy sort of world, so I felt like I should get into character.

Second, I was there for Space, I saw how often things went to hell in a hand basket because there were not clear rules.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

There should be no past-tense where Space is concerned.

But a legitimate pirate game could be awesome, especially if it's futuristic.

Also, where stealing is involved, what if you manage it without the Captain noticing? Does it count by number of instances, or by how many times you are noticed? What about repeat offences beyond the first? And does this mean stealing from the ship/crew, or stealing in general?

Stealing from the crew, and obviously only if the Captain is informed.

Failure to inform on others also carries 50 Demerits.

If you steal more than twice you are shot again.

Well, first off in rogue trader you won't be counting coins, that's peasants work and you have scribes/accounts in you 20k+ crew to do that for you. Rather you have a profit factor that is used to roll tests to see if you can buy equipment. Secondly rogue trader can be played however you really want it to though the usual theme can end up like conquistadors IN SPACE! I will most likely be playing up the dark humor quite a bit as well. It takes place in the Forty first millennium where you play as the crew of (and generally as) a rogue trader, that is to say someone who has been granted a warrant of trade from part of the Imperial government that allows them to do basically whatever they want outside of Imperial space (aside from consort with certain xenos, but they would [bleep] you up anyways).

Your mission as a rogue trader is to explore strange new worlds (to dominate, bring under the control of the God-Emperor and abuse for resources and profit), seek out new life (to exterminate) and new civilisations (to steal new technology from) to boldly go where no man has gone before (primarily because if they do theyll have their heads bitten off).

Archi, that probably isn't the best mindset to go into Rogue Trader with.

Though I am still doubtful on whether or not it is wise to plan this far ahead, since it makes people yearn to play it when Kingmaker is still running, which could cause the premature death of the game.

Meh.

I just want to play a game in space, preferrably SPACE but someone may have decided to forget about it...

Huh. I'dlike to try it, but I would love to play Kingmaker more often. Archi for captain, though, cause i agree, hell in a hand basket is no place to be.. Unless you like being in hell, I suppose.

I was thinking of running the two campaigns simultaneously (on the weekend unless I can get a session time that works for everyone) ie Rogue Trader Saturday Kingmaker Sunday.

Any chance that you could switch that around?

Also, could I get the rulebooks for Rogue Trader? I think I will play that, but I might have less time for it.

Essentially its the 18th century piracy mindset...seems like a sensible mind set for a 41st century pirate game.

If anyone's interested I will throw something together to be done after the first part of the Kingmaker campaign is finished. I can't guarantee how good it will be but it should be fairly representative of gameplay. Oh and before the first session I would like to oversee character creation. (Basically we'll be using random rolls that I want to oversee because I'm a paranoid [bleep])

Okay, yeah. I tried fixing one of my sketches up so that the lines would be thinner and neater and stuff, but it just looked ugly and/or disproportionate no matter what I tried. And I can't seem to draw eyes any smaller... So sorry Mather, I'm sticking with the way I've been doing this before. I'll still try and fiddle with the shading, though. No promises.

I did manage to get a very expressive face on this one, though. It was harder to draw expressive faces earlier because they didn't really have much to express other than "this is srs bsns." or something like that. So instead, this guy (who, by the way, is yet another of the planned comic characters) is going to kill a slice of cake. He loves cake.

Edit: I'll post the picture tomorrow; I'm going to sleep and I'm not done with it yet.

We could use this:

http://cbpye.net/rtchargen.php

You decided what is decision and what is random:

We give you the decisions we make

You give us back the character sheet (Screenshot and paste)

Then we convert that into a proper character sheet.

You check it because you are a paranoid [beep]

We all live killingly ever after.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Is there some sort of point buy system in RT that we can use instead?

If not, it might be easier if ya just did the stat rolls, without the confusion.

Well...

25 base score

+d20

So the average would be 10

And there are 9 stats

So 90 overall. (Out of six rolls I got 98, 108, 116, 83, 87, 104, which has an average of 99)

Then:

Each ability score point from 1-7 costs one point each. 7 to 13 cost 2 points each and above 14 costs 3 points per ability score point, up to 18.

Which would mean that at least 27 points were spent at the 2 point price, so actually comes to 76.5 overall.

Thus, based on the above, point buy has -22.5 points over random selection...Which makes it undesirable, unless you want to build your character specifically around something...which seems like a good trade off, to me...

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Infi has quit H&H apparently, and I dropped my boat on the claimed land. I think I may go live at the other cave entrance now that I have Yeo, or I may just quit...

Can you move my boat back to the cave please tho? It has all my good stuff in it.

I actually saved the layers for this one, so if something looks just plain wrong, I can change it and see how it looks. As usual, please state anything that you can think of to make it better in detail - and some possible ways to go about doing it. All I have right now is GIMP, and I ain't downloading/buying/pirating something else.[/hide]
