The games are at an all time low.

I'm not saying there is a problem with the two games that are running at the moment but there is only two dungeoneering games running.

Completely different, Edel. You don't play Space at all anyways. Please shutup about it now.

Hey, thread necromancing is my job! And JUST because they're IRC doesn't mean they're horribly similar, Edel.

They are both IRC dungeoneering's, one may be set in the 1300's and one may be set in the 2200's but they are both dungoneering, surely someone could start a hegemony!

The only reason old hegemony worked is because nobody really knew what the hell they were doing. Now, we have people try to moderate it and such, and most of the "old Hegemony" people don't find it fun because they enjoyed the old system of yelling at people with OP tech until they changed it or quit, then obliterating everyone with tech that's OP but nobody noticed.

The spirit of subterfuge, planning, and ingenuity that the original Hegemony had has left.

I, personally, think we should revive "The End of the Beginning". That thread had a lot of potential, and I never really got to have much fun with Kemios and Joel. (And I could really, really use the writing practice :P)

I'm not a fan of a hegenomy, and people like the Dungeoneering style. HEgenomies don't last long nowadays.. Maybe a new combination, like my Overlording set? But more based off of Hegenomy than Dungeoneering.

hahahahaha don't ask

Do I smell a Labrynth reference?

And Hex, we never really had more than two games alive at the same time anyway.

Space includes a lot of hegemony like elements regardless. Dungeoneering is dungeoneering. They're different enough that you could like one while disliking the other. Although in your case, you just seem to hate Dungeoneering games regardless, which kind of throws me to the conclusion that maybe you should give up complaining, since you aren't going to change much.

Well...it is hard to play Hegemony and that type of game when people go all or nothing over the slightest thing.

What we need is clear, definable rules of war, so if someone decides to declare war they have 4 or 5 days before the war begins to bleed them dry and they have to make some sort of peace.

Proabably need a map with loyalties, so people don't conquer Africa in 5 minutes and then claim they all love their new overlords.

Needs alot of work to go into it to rebuild Hegemony into a game the new Tavern can play.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Well one way to discourage rampant expansion would be to make rebellions something that actually happens (So when you steamroll africa half of the continent rises up in rebellion against your army). You could offer positive and negative modifiers as to how likely a rebellion was to kindle due to certain factors like religion [hide]Image12.gif[/hide] language [hide]]BBB%204M1%20Map%20-%20World%20Languages.JPG[/hide] or a host of other factors like how their old government was set up, how much say you give them in local affairs and how violently you took control of the country (though secret police and a general sense of fear could keep the rebellions down for a time).

Honestly it's just my two cents about the matter. Hell you could also have neighboring NPC's allying against you to preserve their freedom or having larger NPC's tell you to cut that [cabbage] out and attacking your gains.

EDIT:

Oh and here's the list of ethnic groups in africa

EDIT: Was it just me or is facebook checking the tavern out?

I invited a friend.

He likes the idea of hegemony, he's probably not into dungeoneering.

Please be nice to him and not drive him out like you did with the other guy who joined.

EDIT: Facebook is because I posted a link.

I got an idea, how many here would like a dungeoneering style game, played on a thread where the game has one or more set primary goals, is set in a limited area and has pre-defined magic classes and spells, but wherethere would be almost no limit to what you can do, long, descriptive posts are appreciated and where the entire world is made on forehand? I might not be able to pull it off just correctly, but I'll give it a try. The creation of the world might take a while though, so I think I'll try to release it around the 25th like a christmas present. Ideas for it are more than welcome.

Well it's meant to be a happy medium between classic D&D with it's 300 pages of rules and freeform.

But reading through them only about twenty five are required.

Mather, I think it sounds good :) But I can't join now the files timers already been set.
