Never check the sharpness of a blade by running you finger along it, no matter how lightly, you don't feel a sharp blade... well, at least not until it hits fresh skin or flesh.

I can support this.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Just got some help from Archi on a fun DnD character that will probably never see the light of Grim's Kingmaker campaigns, since he was the expert on firearms.

A tiny goblin (accomplished by amulet of reduce person) wielding dual-pistols being reloaded by an amulet of mage hand with a ridiculously high stealth modifier of +46 in optimal conditions (+36 while sniping).

So while it is an effective rogue situation, it primarily excels in randomly killing stuff inside a city. Basically, here's the scenario:

Goblin buys a few nice houses overlooking the main square of a medium-sized city and links them all with underground tunnels. He installs arrow slits to act as improved cover, disguising them as decorations and ornaments, and covered with some ivy and stuff. Then, he can proceed to start randomly shooting into the square and running between the houses, to make it seem the shots are coming from totally different directions.

After several minutes, it is likely more powerful reinforcements(read: PCs that will find you a CR appropriate encounter (CR 5 encounter)) will arrive, ready to chop your head off and earn experience points. Not to worry: surprise round them with thundershot, which if aimed at a single PC, should easily take them down one at a time, though two wizards/sorcerers/bards could also be defeated. Laugh maniacally at your profit and flee the city. Because you have such a high stealth modifier, no one should be able to even see you, much less recognize you when you head to another town.

I suspect chaotic evil. You could add a black duelist hat for general badassery too.

Nevermind.

It's a REALLY big shaft.

I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.

how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time?

Slipped and pointed it down. It started burning so I jerked it away, seearing enoguh to make a sailor blush.

Several guns, a bow and arrow, and an axe. Just to be clear on armnament... Also, I'm less likely to be clumsy with something that can kill me quickly.

More that some people go 'Ah, hug, scary' and I don't want to get on the wrong side of someone with a gun in that situation =P

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

It's not like everyone in America has a shot gun, I only have a 9mm pistol (Bite me, I go to a public school in California, I *need* firearms) for deterring of burglars.

@ Retech: I remember there being a couple of other campaigns going on, specifically one shot dungeons (that people were supposed to DM for at least once with their own dungeon). What happened to them? (I might well get back to running Kingmaker once school gets out, depending upon the summer school workload).

LNYvk.png

Best way to deter burglers, move to Britain. No one wants to spend a few hundred pounds flying their team out to break into your house =P

Getting to school may be problematic.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

I have.... a machete; some dull, weak throwing knives; and a few weak-ass airsoft guns. And I think I may have a crossbow lying around somewhere.

This is only counting the things that were made to be sort-of weapons. Improvised weaponry.... could be just about anything I have in my room. Maybe not my drawing tablet. But otherwise..... yeah, anything in my room counts. It counts double if I ever get my hands on a lighter.

a70c7.png

Three airguns, a small-caliber bolt-action rifle, a bow, a crapload of knives, three swords, a dagger, a kuhkri and a large samii knife as sharp as a razor.

Also I think there may be a chainsaw lying around somewhere.

Yeah... Rather than go overboard on an itemized list, I will just give you the Gist of my Analysis of the character: It is Horribly Broken in multiple definitions of the Term, none of them being the 'good' definition. In one sense The character is broken in terms of the rules as several portions of the character break the game rules, and in the other sense the Character is completely unplayable in a practical sense, even in optimal circumstances.

Wyvren, that's the whole point. The reason it would never make it to one of Grim's kingmaker games is because it isn't designed for a party adventure, although several rogues might be interesting. :)

Although with the loading with mage hand, another option would be to load each gun separately, using mage hand to hold one gun while reloading the other.

First problem I see, can you wear two amulets?

My weaponry consists of a few throwing knives, several throwing axes, a quarterstaff that I've found by accident to be quite sturdy, and that's it...

I've fired rifles and pistols, though. And damn do my eardrums still ring.

Ah, good point.

I was using magic item pricing rules for it, so that is now a ring of reduce person. :)

I don't see why you can't wear a ton of amulets, or a 10 rings, heck even 20 if you count toes. You can even use your ankle for bracelets.

That's the one thing I don't understand.

It's a REALLY big shaft.

I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.

It took an hour to retype an Essay. ... This is stunning.

Cause, as we all know, DnD is completely unbreakable, and wearing more than 2 rings would break the game. Those intelligent people at DnD HQ truely know best.

[/sarcasm]

As an aside, I don't think the character would be entirely unplayable.

The silliness with the tunnels is obviously a concern. (Need to cross 100 or 200 feet between shots, which would mean by the time you popped up for your third set of shots the area is deserted.)

But the way I would do it...personally...Would be to have the pistols, fire them to deal with minions, then switch to a Masterwork Rifled Musket, and fire once, then withdraw from the situation, reloading as I go.

The rifle would be my main weapon, so all the combat focus and such would be on there.

Naturally you can argue that the super stealth mod means that you are entirely invisible in any and all circumstances. However, treating the mod as a human being, rather than a computer you have fed the rules into, it would be safe to assume that firing the gun would invalidate the stealth tactics.

Also, the way vison works in DnD, anyone could see you through the arrow slits.

Finally, you need to be unseen to stealth (Except with rogue talents I believe).

Bunch of other things. =P

Damn, broke the supports for my keyboard just because the address bar acted up. I really need to get my life in order before I kill or seriously injure someone for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I resort to strings of nonsence whenever I am annoyed.

The other alternative is getting a nice lump of pycrete...Should be easier to make in Norway, where Sawdust is relatively easy to obtain.
