Jehosaphat
Yes, but that is pretty much literally all I do. Tiny amounts of preplanning to make sure I don't have plotholes, then random bullcrap for however long the session lasts. It gets old after a while.Pretty much what all of us do. One of the reasons Dungeoneering was so successful is that players came up with 99% of the bullcrap, the mod just responded. That and the mod didn't get tired of the concentrated bullcrap until... what, a year after it started? archimage_a
I didn't get tired of it...I got massive migranes from spending 8-12 hours a day doing it. Then handed it over to Ross and things got complicated. http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts. Icuownage
I don't want to sound like an ass here but I think the tavern really needs to think how it actually wants to play games, because my game previously failed because I really didn't like the play style of you guys. Nexaduro
Mhm. We're an unguided mess, because we know, or at least think, that screwing around enough will get you the results you want. Nexaduro
Pirates, y'mean? I tried to be cordial and cooperative, but frankly I was a [bleep]ing Shoggoth and the humans were all racist, and less than brilliant, bastards. 10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc10:53 PM - Resistance: You mean plotholes? archimage_a
What we really need to do is create two or three games with just three or four players each. I mean, I am running Danse Macabre and so far people haven't chosen the 'Kill everything' route...They are totally disregarding the social order and such...But as is life. http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. The_Mather1
I know what I want in a game; freedom of action (note, only to chose what to attempt, not the result) and no software requirements. Twitter: @TheMather1
Icuownage
Freedom of actions are okay, I was willing to allow it slightly in Cursed planet, but the reason I was so annoyed was because people were OUTRIGHT ignoring me and not following the story. archimage_a
Well...the main issue there was that the story wasn't very well laid out. We were following this knight...Thats pretty much as much as I got from the story aspect. I mean, we didn't even have a map of the area, we were just wandering to the capital. http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts. Earth
Hoi. Can we all make a thread where we post, ONE POST PER EACH PERSON, about what we want to see in a game? Then we can EDIT in who we want as Mod/GM/ whatever. Then we can Edit whoever wants t do that stuff. Sound good? Nexaduro
That could be nice actually. Except it would never be bumped, then. We could get a mod to sticky it? It would be like... A Tavern profile. Sign in/sign out for vacations and ragequits and such, along with current games you are running/planning/would like to see. 10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc10:53 PM - Resistance: You mean plotholes? archimage_a
Herding cats is easy. Just need a lump of meat or fish and most will follow you. Same is true with players(replacing meat/fish with gold/magical items) http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. Corvus
Herding cats is easy. Just need a lump of meat or fish and most will follow you. Same is true with players(replacing meat/fish with gold/magical items) In theory the classic Monty Haul tactics work for getting players to do what you want, its just that in terms of GMing a game tends to not be very rewarding for them if the only way to get the players to do anything is Monty Haul tactics, which inevitably break game balance later on. Jehosaphat
Well...the main issue there was that the story wasn't very well laid out. We were following this knight...Thats pretty much as much as I got from the story aspect. I mean, we didn't even have a map of the area, we were just wandering to the capital. That, and the rewards for anything were few, far between, and pretty damn useless. I mean, there was the subquest with the guy and his life-plant... in which I got a vial of life-sap that didn't do much in exchange for my pet rabbit. So we all were in search of nice shinies, and the only way we knew of to get the nice shinies was to kill stuff until we found some. Or until Auran turned traitor, kidnapped Tim, and screwed with us for the rest of the game.... ....Which leads me to the one other beef I had with that game - the powers weren't balanced. I was a chronomancer who could do pretty much nothing but slow people down or speed them up (which didn't seem to have much effect, by the way), while Auran managed to make armies of goons that he literally took out a town with. Earth
Well, I could make the thread if you wanted? We may as well. We'd use hide Tags for stuff like preferred mods, what you like i the games, what games, alive or dead, that you LIKE, and ones that you dislike. And the play times for games the individual is modding. Does that sound organized enough?
