I thought it'd be interesting to post a topic like this so..

Everyone has something they are good at, for the pixelers here im sure its drawing as one of them. Where did everyone find the ability to draw/pixel? where does everyone get there inspiration?

Well for me, i found drawing when i was very little at the age of 6 aprox. My older brother was drawing some stuff, and i took a look at it, i was amazed at how cool it looked. I think he was drawing spiderman or a monster in his sketch book. after that day i loved looking at my older bros drawings so when i got older at the age of 10 or so i started drawing. then at 12 i started pixeling... And now im still drawing/pixeling trying to get better :)

I get my inspiration from things around me, and certain people on TIF

without things around me to look at and people on these boards to inspire me i wouldnt be drawing much. It was my older bro but he quit drawing, so not much inspiration there :(

Soooo where did u find drawing? what got u into it? what inspires you?

Ahh drawing... I love it ya know, i've been doing it for about 7 years now and im just starting to get good. It started out a similar way to most people, I was watching some show, which i can't remember now, and saw fanart. I wanted so badly to be able to show my friends how I could draw all thier favorite characters, and so I started, got tired of it for a few years, and am just now getting back into it... as for pixeling, I've drawn pictures on paint for forever but never even thought about shading.... and now I've gotten into pixel sigs, a revolutionary idea, I hope to continue this artsy feddish for as long as I can :P So there ya have it.

I've always liked drawing, but it got real intense about mid year 2005. I started watching some TV shows, and sketched the characters. I especially liked the anime (japanese animation). I also began drawing stuff about runescape. After that, i just saw something i liked from a game or a show and i built up on that.

I've liked to doodle and draw since I was young, but it wasn't anything impressive.

A few years ago, I joined a RS fansite (Runescape Central) and started with basic computer graphics there. After years of crap, I finally started experimenting with new things.

Last summer I really started learning to draw, and started working with my tablet a lot more. I've also been trying to improve my modeling/animation and web design skills. Next week I'll be trying to learn to use acrylics and watercolours for the first time... hehe.

Due to my stupidity, I'm still a beginner to all types of art and have only recently gotten interested in the more serious side of it (as opposed to filter sigs, which isn't serious, and certainly isn't very artistic!).

I hated drawing or art in general till I was like 11 or so. Around that time I then for some reason started sketching dinos. From then till now I've been drawing them, and got into other kinds of art like pastel, some colors, but mainly sticking with pencil. After a few years of playing RS and using scapeboard and tipit, I notice the media board and see those pictures people apparently do in Mspaint (that one program that never had a use), figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to try my rl skill on paint for some extra gp. I'd like to make something for myself in pixel but haven't been inspired yet, same as rl can't come up with many ideas of what to draw.

Drawing, Believe it or not I remember this...I was at a babysitter's house and she had 2-3 other kids there and we were all finger painting, so it was my turn and I went in and I looked at a paper of which another boy drew and i was amzed at how cool his truck looked, so i went up to him and asked how he did it and he replied saying he didn't even draw a truck so I, determined to prove him wrong drew my self interpretation of what he drew and it turned out to be a fairly good finger-painted truck for a preschooler....=).

I'm not very good at pixeling but I saw here how some people could make it so amzing and was looking at MXM's sigs and found otu he used MS paint so I was inspired to try to make sigs as good as he could, I still try by making free sigs for friends.....

I got into drawing um.. early. I just liked drawing things with my brother, and neighbour, who could draw the most ownage cars for example. Since my brother was very accurate with his drawings, he always won :) Anyway, I kept on drawing a bit now and then for several years, till I got into runescape. One time I was browsing through Runevillage and noticed sigs selling for big prices. So I used my sucky photoshop skills to try and earn some cash. Never won anything big, but then the pixelcraze came up selling for even more money. So I entered that craze, cheated with everything I made (Using brushes and opacity settings and things to make my stuff look better then others. No, I did not have paint because I'm on a Mac. Photoshop I do have, so yea..)

Anyway, here's a thread of ages past showing some of my pixel work with some more descriptions.

I started drawing when I was around 7 or 8, tracing dinosaurs and comic book characters onto my books, after awhile I started to draw my own things.

Pixeling I got into a bout 8-10months ago when someone asked me to make him a pixel signature because he liked my pencil sketches, never even heard of pixel art until then. :P

Well I have never really been into drawing but I have always been doing it, nothing very good and just doing random outlines, I did a pixel before I joined here, not knowing what it was and just messing around in paint (this was when black pures were coming out in RS1 so long time ago) and I stopped doing it for ages then picked it up a year ago or so and then just did random free ones and know I mostly do them for personal use/experiment.

Lowgravity, I want to be just like you. But...I never will be as 1337 as you. :(

Back in 2002/2003, I started a Sprite comic which was kinda popular among a little community I hung out with.

Every once in a while, I'd draw something as filler. I got better and better, and started drawing on paper. Then in September 2004, I drew my first sig. And then started improving on the computer, and on paper.

If I can get my scanner to work, I'll scan in one of my favourite drawings. ;P

Well, I think I started drawing when I was like 7 or 8. I mean, like when I was in first grade. I started with tracing sonic characters, I don't know, I guess I got the feel for it that way, but soon I moved away from the tracing and drew on my own.

Around 5th and 6th grade I got a lot into drawing, and I did a lot of.. you could say random video game character drawings. I've always been one to look at a reference while I draw, I hate drawing from my imagination. Anyways, going into 7th grade I got quite into Dragonball and Dragonball Z, so I started to draw characters from there. This probaly helped my drawing the most, and I probaly filled up a binder with different drawings.

However, when I got to 9th grade, I just sort of, stoped. I just stopped drawing. I probaly drew the least in 9th grade, I don't know why, but it's like I ran out of subject matter when my interest in dragonball and such wore off. Around 9th grade (october-ish I think.) I started to play runescape again, with my friend Jairyn. Seeing the imense ammount of money people were making (50k a sig, that was crazy for us back then) we decided to try, and made some sigs.

I remember, funny story, one of my first sigs sold to some guy for 30k. A lot of people were mad at me, considering I used a background some guy was giving out for free (hah!) and put some rs characters on it. Either way, got off to a bad start.

Now, with all of this CG work going on, I was less and less interested in drawing. I started to realy get into CG, even though my drawings were imensly better than my CG art (and I still think they can sometimes compare.)

So, around 10th grade and 11th I started to doodle a bit. This is where I realy worked on learning how to draw people. I remember in 10th grade I would draw a lot in geometry. Just random stuff realy, like once I drew my hand (the one that I was drawing with :D ). Another time I drew the back of my friend, either way, I was learning how to draw stuff in real life much better, despite it being quick sketches.

Anyways, now we fast foward to 12th grade, my senior year. For the most part I have stopped drawing. I remember last year I drew a Guild Wars Warrior guy, probaly first main drawing I had done in 2 years, but I haven't done anything since. I guess it's because it's not like back in 7th and 8th grade when I had a ton of time to draw, and didn't have to pay attention in class. Either way, I have some stuff Irealy want to draw (my AoE III manual has some great stuff in it) but I don't know when i'll get to it.
