djscoobsta
Recently C4 TV and The Rock FM compiled a list of what they think are the 100 greatest rock albums of all time. I thought I would post the list here for general discussion. By recently I mean it aired on C4 between Christmas and New Years (I think Boxing Day (26th December)), I have been trying to get a copy of the list as I want to buy some of the featured albums, However have only just come across it on The Rock FM's website. They (C4 TV) also done the 100 best songs of 2005, I am still trying to hunt that one out. However I remember the winner was Gorillaz - Dare. Anyway read down the list some very very famous bands and ablums that propelled them to super star status. Sunwarriord
Really really really bad list. Nirvana's Nevermind being the number one album of all time? U2 and Rage Against the Machines ahead of Dark Side of the Moon? First Zeppelin album at number 15? I would understand maybe if they took out all the albums pre 90s and called the list "Top 100 Greatest Albums of the 90s" My list up to 20: 1. Led Zeppelin-Led Zeppelin IV 2. Beatles-Revolver 3. Pink Floyd-Dark Side of the Moon 4. The Who-Who's Next 5. Jimi Hendrix Experience-Are you Experienced? 6. Led Zeppelin-Led Zeppelin II 7. Beatles-White Album 8. Pink Floyd-The Wall 9. Beatles-Sgt. Pepper's Lonley Hearts Band Club 10. Jimi Hendrix Experience-Electric Ladyland 11. AC/DC-Back in Black 12. Led Zeppelin-Houses of the Holy 13. The Eagles-Hotel California 14. Rolling Stones-Let it Bleed 15. The Beatles-Abbey Road 16. The Doors-The Doors 17. Black Sabbath-Black Sabbath 18. Pink Floyd-Wish You Were Here 19. London Calling-The Clash 20. Disreali Gears-Cream just my opinion though.

hohto
Metallica has made 4 better albums that the black album, yet that list is 2nd on that list :( I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.Name Removed by Administrator ~Turtlefemm
Sunwarriord
Metallica has made 4 better albums that the black album, yet that list is 2nd on that list :( Yeah exactly what i was thinking. Really I think the black album is overrated. None of their greatest works are really in there. but i'd also like to point out Green Day's american idiot is at number 20 lol. How2PK
Not really a great list. Haven't heard too much from it to be honest, so I could be completelty wrong of course, but there seems to be somekind of lack of 'rock history' in that list. Mercifull
I generally hate all these "Top whatever" polls that websites and tv shows do. They seem to be different every week and they always put really rubbish ones in really high up and leave classics out the list completely. ____
wtf, Dookie is the best album Greenday has ever produced. A lot better than American Idiot hands down.
topide
I'm glad American idiot and dookie made it up there :). Any chance nimrod could to?
Rizla
That list might as well be "most commercially popular rock albums of all time" as opposed to best. I like Nirvana, but there's no way they deserve to have the top spot. Aside from that, they released 2 albums that are easily better than Nevermind. Kirk and Lars I could handle. At the same time. RockDude101
Any 'top whatever' lists are pure opinion. That̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s why I never take them seriously and only as a representation of a person/few people's musical tastes. Though IMO, that list is one of the worst I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ve ever looked at.
Bubsa
Channel 4 are obsessed with these lately. They're running out of things to vote on too, so look out for "Top 100 surgical mis-haps" Jacko's gotta be a contender. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you. Sir_Alex85
Nevermind is first? Nevermind sucks. Sure as hell didn't impress ME, anyway. They also didn't mention Deep Purple. Machine Head was a Great album! Smoke On The Water, Space Truckin'... And Number of the Beast was way up the list. Shoulda been farther down, in my opinion. And what about Maiden's self titled album? It was pretty groundbreaking then. bah. It's all based on opinion. It really has

goku_nazz
Hotel California - The Eagles should be higher and so should Desperado. Desperado was HUGE in the 70's.. it was the record to have. Appetite for Destruction is an awesome album also 8)
stevester77
The fact that "American Idiot" beat "OK Computer" by over twenty places, just shows how [developmentally delayed]ed this list really is.
Sunwarriord
I just noticed, why is Mesmerize even on this list? That album's been out only a few months.
