Glacors post-EOC

I was hunting glacors a lot before the EOC, but obviously that's changed things. I have two questions that I'd appreciate answers to:

 

1. Are glacors still worth hunting? The boots have dropped dramatically in price.

2. What should my offensive setup be (spell, wand, and offhand)? I can't afford Nex gear, but anything else should be possible.

They are the best magic xp in the game if you value gp. They are also probably around 1.5m/h from boots if other drops cover the running costs.

 

Void mage seems to work, I guess either deflector with a better mage top & wand, or just void with staff.

I did Void with Wand and crystal shield and it worked perfectly fine.

Not necessary to use wand and shield. Can manage fine with SS and a Stave.

I did it without prayer, loved using resonance to absorb the area attack.

Thanks for the replies so far. I have void mage, so I'll plan on using that. I do not, however, have SS. Before EoC I managed fine without it, though I don't know how much things have changed there since then. What would be better for me, a shield/wand combo, a book/wand combo, or just a stave? Whatever you suggest, will you also recommend a specific book/shield/stave?

Void mage with deflector & subjugation top should be good then. With the shield you can absorb an icycle attack with Resonance, gaining health equal to half your current health.

No, but for prayer bonus, you'd want Akrisae's robe top. It's not only cheaper than Subjugation, but offers +1 prayer point more.

I'm not convinced +1 prayer bonus is worth it. Akrisae's does degrade, while Subjugation does not.

But unless either you die frequently or if the cost of Subjugation and Akrisae's is that close, the repair cost takes a LONG time to overtake Subjugation's cost, especially if you use it infrequently

You could always sell Subjugation once you're done I guess, on a related note, and not the thread jack; but did the price of repairing barrows get increased?

Yes it did. I think it costs something like 400k to repair a full set now? Around 150k for a top I believe.

I recall it being 600k.. but not completely sure though.

repair cost was tripled from what it was, so 990k for a set by NPC, and reduction from that via POH

And weapon still being the most expensive, so for an average smith (~80), the 3 parts would average to about 400k repair per 10 hours.

Same can be said about Akrisae/Ahrim robes too.

This is right. I forgot that 99 smithing means I get greatly reduced repair costs.
