Jad help, please

I've watched RS videos for guides and even browsed the out-dated pre EOC guides. I still don't understand why I am having a problem here. No matter what I do I can't get Jad under 50% health. I've tried 3 times now all with the same result before I finally die. I have all 4 healers on me, away from Jad, but cannot get Jad's health under 50%. Is there another tactic I should use?

What I'm doing:

Melee through the cave no problem, using soul-split to heal when needed. Using Overloads, renewals and pray potions when needed.

I switch to ranging gear when Jad comes out and shoot, switching between deflect range/mage. When the healers appear I shoot them all once to get them on me. After a while I figure Jad should be low on health only to discover the health bar is at 50% and won't go down anymore. Am I not delivering enough damage?

Any help would be much appreciated.

How far away did you lure the healers from jad? IIRC if the healers are standing close to Jad they still heal him.

Lure and kill the healers, they are easy to kill.

Use full ganodermic and pray range.

No problems.

Erm... the last I have heard, Ganodermic and Pray ranged doesn't work anymore (Ganodermic doesn't have the soaking that it was known for, and that made the pray ranged soak magic attack work).

Obsidian Armor, since that armor protects against both Magic and Ranged pretty well, failing that, I'd say ranged (and ranging him of course), since Magic armor is weak against his ranged attack, at least Ranged armor won't be so weak against. But frankly I don't think it matters anymore, since his attacks are very accurate.

I used obsidian legs/Mage helm/boots/gloves with virtus top sol arcane stream and the 6th age circuit and maged the whole caves with ice blitz/abilities and when jad spawned the healers used the chain attack ability to get the healers on me.. then dropped jad with abilities. took less than two p pots for the whole cave

Prayers on the ability bar makes prayer switching simple, and the latest graphical update made the animations pretty easy to track. In the old days you had to keep your head nice and clear so you could click to attack the healers, click to drink prayer pots, click to switch between prayers and inventory, and click to switch between protection prayers, all without misclicking. Now, everything can be done on the keyboard except attacking the healers, so you can keep your eyes on Jad the whole time and use hotkeys for the other stuff.

Mage is better than range, but bring melee for the Xils; they're slow to kill with magic and you might as well save some time.

Very much this. The biggest help for me when I went for Jad was speeding things up. Instead of losing an hour and a half ranging, I'd lose half that meleeing, tops, on a fail. That takes a lot of pressure off because it makes it less annoying to fail. You also have more resources left for Jad of course.

I personally maged(92mage) the entire caves.. and on the second 360(old cb lvl don't remember the name/guy that melee/mages) I didn't click Mage pray and with my armor those guys never hit more than a few hundred tops per attack and rarely over 50 iirc. either way prayer shouldn't be required besides the occasional soulsplit and on jad

Can you seriously tank 360s now? Sounds... Balanced. ;3

Anyway my advice for jad would be to change your prayers when Jad signals he's about to use that attack, he gives a lot of time for you to switch so just relax and don't panic click. If you can pray on hotbar now do that as it'll make it even simpler, I'd recommend putting mage and range prayers on opposite sides of the keyboard so you don't have to look or think about it too much.

You'll probably have to deal with the healers in EOC instead of out DPSing their healing(?), so trap them at least 4-5 tiles from jad without killing them. Do this in your own time and prioritize pray switching above all else, then finally kill Jad once the healers are no longer healing.

A lot of the cave (and ESPECIALLY Kiln) monsters are still not balanced properly for EoC, so as a result, the only thing that is capable of hurting is Jad, Dill and Har-Aken, the rest just roll over and die.

Cauldron on the other hand...
