Closest fairy ring to...

Featured Replies

Hey I'm curious if anyone can answer a few questions on fairy rings in 07...

  • Closest fairy ring to another tele? (For fast access to zanaris)
  • Closest fairy ring to a bank?
  • Closest fairy ring to an altar?
  • Closest fairy ring to a spirit tree?

Plus any more you think might be useful in general use.

2. Edgeville

3. Legends? I don't recall if there is an alter there. Otherwise, Edgeville

4. Edgeville :)

edge is miles from an altar =/ But yes it's very good for everything else!

Note to self, get construction for a mounted glory (and altar, there solves that problem. :P)

I tele to house for all my glory needs, pray at altar then use mounted glory and go to fairy ring for chaeldar tasks.

Thx to MxM for parts of the sig!

Tower of Life fairy ring then run to the Monastery for a prayer altar perhaps? Lumbridge/House teleports are better options though to recharge your prayer.

House tele to Yanille then there's one just west.

I usually just tele lummy, use chest bank, pray altar, walk to the shed to zanaris for a new slayer task. Granted this was before unlocking fairy rings :P

I'm just going to get 47 con (for glory + altar) as it's much cheaper than I thought and will be very useful. The few long bones I have banked will help quite a bit.

I just teleport to Falador and use the west bank, and then Lumbridge altar and then run to shed. I basically use Falador for all banking purposes since I'm carrying Law + Air + Water runes and a Lava staff everywhere I go.

castle wars tele is better then ecto.

I am not a skiller, but i do some skills.

Ecto is free, plus it is one click.

Though house tele trumps all

As it's kinda relevant and I wanna share, you can use crystal saw and spicy stew for a +8 boost, meaning you only need level 37 for an oak altar and 39 for mounted glory. :)

Literally requires less than half the total xp/money to obtain over using no boosts!

House is not complete without a portal room :)

c wars tele is like 250 gp per tele lol. It's more usefull due to the bank being right there and I think the ring's a bit closer, but I never measured that.

I now have an altar and mounted glory :3 It only took like 2 hours and 200k including buying the materials from NPCs

An NPC sells limestone bricks for 20-90 gp each (they rapidly rise in price as you buy, i buy 100 of the 1000 stock, then world hop as they reach 90+ gp ea) so I bought a lot and made Decorative rock (Requires 5 construction, gives 100xp per build, takes 5 limestone) over and over.

Seems both the NPC and the decorative rock are secret to many players as I see many guides recommend you build limestone fireplaces at level 33 (requires 2 bricks for 40xp), which is obviously objectively worse. Plus I had an offer on zybes to sell limestones and sold >100 for 2k each in small quantities, actually paying for my 2k+ store bought bricks, it was the laws that ending up costing most of the money (whilst providing decent mage xp)

Ahem, anyway, house + mounted glory does seem like the best combo. You get prayer, tele very close to a bank, and then a small walk to a fairy ring. Hell, if you don't need to bank, canifis house portal tele is actually very close to a fairy ring, closer than ecto and CW!

the NPC in mort'ton?

nononono

The big dwarf city, there's a stonemason like 30 tiles from a bank.

That is still unbelievably slow.

IF you cut your own logs, from 15-50 you only need 1700 oaks, which costs 425k in sawmill fees.

For 1-15, you need roughly 125 planks and 200 iron nails. Much faster. Also yummy WC xp and NESTS!

Yeah my 2 hour method is way slower than your more expensive 5 hour method. But hey, you get to horribly inefficiently train a useless skill while doing it so I guess it really is way better.

CNqWHdA.jpg

If you use Castle Wars -> Sawmill balloon then cut oak logs there to turn to planks, it comes to about 120 seconds for 27 oak planks, I believe (very conservative estimate). That's in comparison to about 20 seconds for 27 limestone bricks.

Both these assume infinite run energy, though, so it'd probably be closer to 150 seconds and 40 seconds for each method respectively. The limestone brick method is hurt more because in involves a bank run back with 27 bricks, whereas the most weight carried during the oak plank run is the few steps between the oak trees to the sawmill operator (probably 8-10 tiles), and then the run from the Castle Wars teleport to the bank chest (8~ tiles).

You also only use 3 build actions to get 24 oak planks' worth of XP, compared to 5 build actions to get 25 bricks' worth of XP - however, you notably teleport into the garden, rather than the kitchen, which is up to another 12 tiles away.

There's also the issue you have of world hopping on the limestone, which is like an extra 30 seconds or so every 2 minutes.

Limestone bricks at an average of 50gp each gives 2.5gp/xp, while oak planks at 250gp each gives 4.17gp/xp.

Someone crunch these numbers and tell me what it all means :s

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

Limestone bricks are very inefficient considering the high gp/hr moneymaking methods with good xp/hr. At least be correct/knowledgeable if you use condescending sarcasm.

Decorative rocks was just what I personally used to obtain a low level goal on the cheap and it's convenient as you can do from level 5. I never claimed it was the best method, just pointing out how your method you imply is much better... Ermm, isn't.

Provide an actual better alternative and I'll commend you for it.

That is all fine and dandy, but I'm not fancying getting 50 fm in order to make logs faster =\

Well if you can't use the Castle Wars method for running oak planks then the limestone bricks are probably going to be better lol.
