I think you misunderstood my sarcasm. I wasn't trying to make a jab at anyone or cause any distress. True enough... but it's still a private forum run (and paid for) by someone and those who are picked to run the forum in the way they are told to. The rules are the rules, and there is nothing stopping any of us from setting up our own forums with our own rules. That aside, I agree with you 100%. But I really agree with some of the points made on this subject. I looked at all of the room pics posted because I found the thread interesting, and nothing in their was too personal at all. How are the 'bad guys' going to find information that would put your life in danger from your room :? After all, they'd get to YOU first, not your room. Im pretty sure everyone here is old enough to figure out if they post something personal it may cause harm. But i honestly cant see why posting rl life pics on here can cause harm. But when a "rooms" thread is deleted for personal safety i think thats pretty stupid. I did not see any photos or papers with personal information in it so why delete the thread? Doesn't mean I don't understand why it's done though. It's just frustrating. I do understand your point - but still we cant take those chanses. Another aspect we have to consider is the possible lawsuits we could get amongts us if the worst case scenario should happen. If you're scared of that then I really don't think you understand the law. Take SomethingAwful for example, a member there got told where to buy his ammunition and then shot his girlfriend and himself, The SA goons arn't responsable as the webmaster isn't responsable for dynamic content (such as forums) created by the members (unless of course he is encouraging kiddy porn or making a website themed around something that is deemed to be illegal).. DW is closer to how scapeboard used to be (the original phpbb1 forum with the blue and black theme) than anything else. TIF's 'oldies' forum is, I dunno TBH since I've never had the pirvilage of ever seeing it. But from what I know it's up there with the stiffs and isn't close to what you're thinking about having. DarkWebz is a completely differant community in itself, making a community invite only also brings makes other users felt left out and destroys the feeling of a community in large part. New members are the only ones who don't have ops, annoy someone and chances are you will get banned pretty much straight away. DarkWebz may not be invite only but when you first sign up there you can only see a snippet of the actual forum, after you have posted for a while and if you haven't irked the community then you will be added to the darkwebz group which lets you see everything except for the admin only sections of the site. If they had these rules in the first place we would never have joined. The forums used to be lots of fun.
