February 28, 200620 yr Very simple way to stop macroers: Make bank pins manditory. That would stop most macros from cutting yews, mining ess/coal etc. It also helps prevent more people from being hacked who do not currently have a bank pin. I really hope Jagex uses this idea in the near future.
February 28, 200620 yr But you only need to enter your pin once per login. Unless you mean make entering the pin mandatory every time you access the bank. In which case there would be a mass revolt.

Your just hit the nail on the head. I already hate entering my PIN I won't want to do it more. P.S. Don't tell me to remove it because I need it for safety.
March 1, 200620 yr Author well i didnt mean every time you go to your bank, but it could be like every 45 minutes or something, at least in f2p, for macro prevention.
March 1, 200620 yr I don't think it will be hard for a macro to click the numbers, besides they can also use the deposit boxes instead. So it would damage the normal players more then it would do the autoers. f2p skilltotal 1050+
March 1, 200620 yr When coming up with a suggestion, do take more than 20 seconds to think it through. This will be more of a hassle for the non-macroing players than the macroing ones. Suzanne Vegatokin rite wurx gud!

March 2, 200620 yr The only way to stop autoers is to bring back sleeping bags and fatigue. (Random word and number mix will own autoers)
March 3, 200620 yr The only way to stop autoers is to bring back sleeping bags and fatigue. (Random word and number mix will own autoers) I guess you have no idea how useless fatigue was in stopping macroers so I can't get too angry at you. Random word and number mix won't do anything. There's already a program out, won't name it, that dealt with fatigue. Again, it only punishes legit. players more than autoers. As to this whole bank pin thing, the fatigue program would be just as effective against this new bank pin idea. A person could sit at their computer for 5 minutes and input their bank pin 100,000 times into the program then leave.
March 3, 200620 yr The only way to stop autoers is to bring back sleeping bags and fatigue. (Random word and number mix will own autoers) *Cries in the corner* Imagine how many questions there would be about why energy and fatigue are different. Why you need to sleep after mining 25 ores, yet you can run back and forth with a full load of them and not need a rest? Fatigue made me sad. Raichase, quit Runescape. Time issues really, nothing against the game itself. Something had to go, and it happened to be the addictive game that costs money to enjoy :) Best of luck to all of my friends here!

So it would damage the normal players more then it would do the autoers. of course it would :P PIN number exist for this only reason, its IMPOSSIBLE to macro-type the PIN :D but the idea of the mandatory PIN is horrible we just dont need such things  Quest cape obtained at combat level 83, march 07.

I personally would love that to happen, so all the little pea brained morons who play this game only to collect more money than the other player will get POed and quit, leaving the rest of us, who actually play the game for fun and use all the skills available to get everything we need on our own, to play the game in peace.
March 4, 200620 yr I personally believe that they should just stop RuneScape due to the amount of autoers/macroers. Then see how many good and honest people want it back, if not... just leave the game offline forever and we won't have the stupid problems and b*tching that comes after it.

March 5, 200620 yr Thanks :D I take it back kinda, bad idea. But then again, the results of it may be good...
March 5, 200620 yr PIN number exist for this only reason, its IMPOSSIBLE to macro-type the PIN :D Actually its pretty easy to do, once you have an macro program that can do everything else in RuneScape. I assume there are already auto-er's using PINs right now anyway.
March 5, 200620 yr well the game could elimanate dposit boxes and that could elimanate a few atuoer but then the programs could find away around that. It would be a hassle to get a manditory bank pin. mabey a program on rs that very 23 hours of playing non stop the game logs you off for 1 hour. may stop someone from getting thousands of things on a noob charicter.
March 6, 200620 yr PIN number exist for this only reason, its IMPOSSIBLE to macro-type the PIN :D Maybe, maybe not. However, how hard is it for the macro using person to log in, go the the bank, type their PIN in, and then proceed to run the macro client? The PIN doesn't stop macroing in the slightest; what it is there for is to stop people from stealing accounts and running off with everything in the bank. Of course, who knows how long it will still work for that . . . Abutebaris modo subjunctivo denuo.
March 6, 200620 yr That would actualy give the quick deposite thing actualy...useful, You dont need a bank pin to deposite and autoers would just use that, Well...I dont think its a good idea but, Why dont they use a system that Steam or WoW (I think they removed it) use, Steam checks your files, and it moniters your stuff, So does WoW, It moniters your items by looking at your running proccesses, But some people say thats...umm..."invasion of privacy?" because they see what your running and could possible see what your doing? (pr0n l0l), Maybe runescape should be changed where you have to download a client to play it instead of using any browser, that coulc change some stuff, but could disapoint people who go out to public places (librarys and such) to play....Uggh i dunno, theres no 100% to stop autoers. Quit runescape...
March 6, 200620 yr An idea to stop macroers would be to make the screen spin 100x faster than it usually does (they started making it spin ever so slightly when scar first came out) and change all teh npcs and roads and grass to the same color so color clickers don't work then then they should remove text when you hover over items and instead of text you should get one of those scary faces that pops out of your screen and screams at you like when you play that maze game with the relaxing music playing in the background.
March 6, 200620 yr That would stop the macroers pretty well and good. But, it would also stop everyone else from playing the game, which would probably be the factor that removed the macroers. I wouldn't play a game where I get screamed at for no reason. Think. Then post. Two step process. Raichase, quit Runescape. Time issues really, nothing against the game itself. Something had to go, and it happened to be the addictive game that costs money to enjoy :) Best of luck to all of my friends here!
March 6, 200620 yr oh man i sure am dumb i would have never thought of that, although i could get used to being screamed at, it would remind me of my childhood and why i play runescape so i can get away from the evils of the real world

The PIN doesn't stop macroing in the slightest; what it is there for is to stop people from stealing accounts and running off with everything in the bank. Of course, who knows how long it will still work for that . . . There are many ways that jagex could make the bank pin harder for a macro program to recognise and enter (e.g. use a variety of sizes, fonts and colours for the numbers) and they could make it so that the bank pin is compulsary to everyone and has to be entered once per 20 minutes (instead of once per login like it is now). March 7, 200620 yr PIN number exist for this only reason, its IMPOSSIBLE to macro-type the PIN :D It is quite easy for a macro program to type a PIN. While the location of the numbers is randomized, the actual shape of the numbers is not. All that is needed is a program that can screen-read (trivial), and then click the right buttons. The PINs were put in place to reduce the damage from hacking, which they do quite well when used. They would be useless against macro programs, even if they were required to be entered every time you used the bank. If you want to stop macroers, advocate the addition of new random events with simple logic-based puzzles (example: What letter is an upside down W?). Those would be quite hard for macros to deal with, easy to write, and easy for real players to solve.
March 7, 200620 yr But a screen-read can't recognise the numbers if the size and font is always different. I'm sure youve seen those things where you get a code in the form of a picture but it is slightly distorted so that it can only be recognised by humans. RSN: Ste_Boz
