March 16, 200620 yr my thinking in this is that Jagex didnt call them dragon gloves or barrows gloves for a reason: they dont want to have a defense bonus... granted most people killing the monster are going to have 60 or 70 defense, but not all, perhaps they wanted a good combat-related reward for a (largely) non-combat quest?
