Well guys I have just got to 65 slayer, I know ya'll are probably think..."big whoop" and thats the problem...I'm thinking the same exact thing...I have been wanting this forever, I wanted the Notorious Dragon Chain drop from them...But now that I have the chance to go start the

 

quest get down there and do some damage I don't want to anymore....I have read post after post about how "I kill 5000, 10000, 30000 dustdevils never getting the D chain"...now i'm a fisher, and a cook so have unlimited food for myself, I even hook all my friends up....But I started thinking I don't want to kill 10000 dusties and have no d chain to show for it; I mean I don't know about you all, but that would make me freak out..haha..but seriously is it worth it to do it, should I do it and only be looking forward to exp? It just feels like it might be a waste of my time when I could "atleast" be raising my slayer, or farming, or anything with my combat. I don't know how its their notorious drop so notorious when you don't get one. have fun with this

 

 

 

OK I did the part needed for the quest, and started on getting some action with the dustdevils. So first run I kill about 65 dusties the first runÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâæI knowÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâæI know kinda lame I was thinking the same thingÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæbut that was just a trial run anyways this time IÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ll come more prepared. So far I got 2 r d hide vambs (alched), emerald, a sapphire, two unids, two mithril bars, 24 rune arrows, and a loop half when I went exploring the tunnels and killed a fire giantÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâæOff for my next trip!

 

 

 

Second trip I killed 95 dusties, and got 5 mith bars, 85 rune arrows, 600 or so fires, 30 choas runes, 15 soul runes, rune dag, 2 rannars, and a irit, diamond, and a sapphire.

 

 

 

Third trip I killed 94 dusties, got 2 mith bars, 1 earth battle, 1.3k fires, 2 rannars 1 kwuarm 1 avontoe, 1 rune dag, 3 vambs, 72 rune arrows 2 rubies, 1 sapphire, and an emerald.

i killed 17k dustdevils with no chain but have 185k fire runes to show for it

hmmm I know what the feeling is like when you get a bunch of fire runes...lol(fire giants), I know its no where near the class of dusties, but they are where my worries came from, I thought I was going to get a d med fromt he fire giants, raised my range from like 54 to 72 there and never got the d med drop I wished for. I took like 9000 steel arrows down there and stayed down there...haha I just hope this doesn't turn out to be another fire giant epidimic...haha

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I think I will go out there and just keep this thread up, and keep everyone up to dated on my trials, and triumphs!!

I've heard dust devils give awesome ranging xp, so that'd be beneficial. Also, you don't need to hit enter when the text gets to the edge of the box. it automatically shifts it down. reading half the width of the page is sort of annoying too

Well here I am preparing for battle, I have been fishing the past couple of hours getting as many sharks as I can. Fishing is the hard part for me but cooking not so bad, my fishing is 82 almost 83, but my cooking is 90, hardly ever burn more then 1-2 sharks per load, and I get a lot of no burns...So once I get stocked back up on food, I'm going to start desert treasure, do the mirrors part go in and whoop some [wagon]! we'll just have to hope for the best now wont we!

When I go train there I'm not even hunting for a Chain, the experience there is just so wonderfull that it's not even necessary.

If I was you don't go there expecting a chain. go for the experience. It's good experience. If you go for the chain, you will end of let down.

p.s. - Gratz on 65 slayer - my current goal is to get that and 80 ranged :D

i killed aroun 29k dusties no dragon drop but around 15k rune arrows and i got my str from 87 to 99 there and i got my combat from 96 to 109 there.

I'm currently killing them-I get about 70k-100k in herbs and alched cash+coin drops per trip, and although it isn't the fastest money, it's better then some things i could be doing instead :P

 

 

 

If you get bones to peaches you wont even need to bank for food that often-bring a hally if your unlucky, so that you can get more bones. They dont hit high :)

 

 

 

 

 

They drop some good stuff anyways, other then the chain-I get a couple earth battlestaves a trip, and alch them :)

I am currently working on 90 ranged at dusties, only killed around 5k so far, i'm here for the good exp and good drops i'm not here specifically for a chain and if you do that im sure it will drive you crazy as it is very rare drop.

Sweet, I guess I will finish stocking up on resources then head out to see everybody down there!

good luck, my friend got a chain in like 490 kills, and 2 left halfs in another 10K kills so i know you prob will have SOME luck

Going to kill dusties for the dragon chain is just like killing chaos druids just for the half key drop. After like 1k or 2k kills you'll get frustrated. Meanwhile, if oyu go there for the exp (herbs with the druids), you'll feel way better.

I've been here for awhile, I have bones to peaches. I sometimes melee them, full torags, whip.. but lately ive been ranging them..

I know it's off topic, but i'd change you anvatar before someone else does.

Don't aim for a d chain trust me when you fight 1 thing over nad over again hoping for 1 item it doesn't show.. but dusties are great exp and give great drops herbs half keys alchable things... hundreds of fires.. and great exp don't aim for the d chain aim for the other drops and exp :)

I'm training combat at dusties right now.. got lucky and got a left half drop so that was good :D

 

 

 

Anyways, its great xp and after I reach my desired combat lvl, I'll probably raise range here too. I have bones to peaches and its awesome :)

i USED to train at dust devils alot, got 8 d chains of them in total. (not sure how many i killed, but i killed alot and no i'm not that lucky, most of those i got SHORTLY after dust devils were introduced in rs)

 

 

 

Lately i didn't got any d chains nomore so yea i just stopped going, was getting to crowded anyway.

 

 

 

So yea i don't know if you should attempt getting a d chain of them

 

 

 

However, i am killing KQ's now and i got exactly 176 kills ... NO D CHAIN :roll: maybe jagex thinks i have gotten enough D chains so far and blocked my account from having d chain drops rofl :(

well now that ive killed tons of dustys and gotten from 86-91 ranged, i just reapetedly tell my self im killin dustdevils for the rnaged xp and not the dragon chain :oops:

On topic, I'm not planning on camping out for an item I'm pretty sure I'll never get. I have 66 slayer right now, and I am hoping to get assigned dusties, so I have a small chance, but I'm not camping out till I have 99 slayer, and I might even wait till I get enough experiance to climb the highscores passed any other 99 slayers.

i have a friend who spent 2 months working on it, not sure how long each day he was on, and if he was there all of the time, but he ended up getting one... always nice when you can just buy them :D
