l3il2die Posted April 20, 2006 Share Posted April 20, 2006 yes, but really you shouldnt be hacked, i guess it was my fault because i downloaded an unofficial Runescape client thingy, which had a keylogger or something in it, and thats how, precaustions you should take, check for viruses regularly, and use a bank pin. ---- quite frankly i didnt care what i lost and its only a game, and im enjoying ranging black dragons and meleeing fire giants using peaches as food, its great stuff i can be there for hours I3il2die: aka: BiRDiEAn Are Sole: Pure Def/Skiller... lordnikon12 Posted April 21, 2006 Share Posted April 21, 2006 i was keylogged bout 2month ago random ppl were goin on my acc 1-2 times every weekend didnt think anything of it because they didnt take anything which i thought nwas strange i changed my pass twice then thought why bother i have a keylogger they can see it and i m jst left it not knowin how to get rid of keyloggers although i had a program which could do it i left it then all of a sudden one day bam i lost: 4mil 3klobs whip 4k coal 2k iron cannon fullrune and full mystic various runes i thought oh well nvm it only a game then thought it was time to get rid of the keylogger. i checked 3 of my anti virus/spyware programs and found tht ad aware would solve the problem. ran the program, it turned out tht i had 3key loggers and something called malware :? i got a frend to lent me his armour runes etc for 2hrs and went for a few barrows trips did 5 trips got guthans spear, helm and torags legs. i went back to my friend gave him his armour back and i had promised i wud give him some of the drop because he lent me the armour so i gave him torags legs sold helm and spear for 9.3mil :) so now i am better off (sort of) than before i was hacked hehe how fun it was Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Although my very good friend was hacked as i loaned him my brand new dharok( back in the day when it was around 9mil) it was hacked off him. I knew it was hacked and he didn't keep because i knew he would not pull that kind of low thing on me. He even told me his pass( without me asking) so i could check. My old computer didnt work on runescape, so i used to go down to a friends place to play. i was very noobish then, and my friend a bit. One day i logged on i was hacked, so was my friend. firestrike Posted April 21, 2006 Share Posted April 21, 2006 Well the only time i have been"hacked" as such was 3 years ago in lateish 2003, i had been playing for 1 year with a 6 month "break" in the middle. Although my mistake was telling one of my friends my password, now he never addmitted to this, although you always can tell. But anyway this has been the only time and i wouldn't think that that many people are hacked by key loggers, except more by there frinds. It is an addictive game and some people just get too caught up in it, that is why playing once a week bar holidays is enough for me. When i was hacked i ended up losing lots of runes 2 rune legs full rune (which was worth a little more back then) anda few other bits and pieces. Whilst i had to submit a charactert back sheet thing on the rs website to get my character back Overall I was helped by this in the end because I was able to lvl one of the most boring skills in the game of smithing and mining to get my money back. purkie_103 Posted April 21, 2006 Share Posted April 21, 2006 ive only been hacked once and that was by a man called gaz 240. we used to bve mates in game and the 1st day he got full drag i went to see him and being the noob i was gave him my email address so he could email a pic of his bank to me he then attached a keylogger to it and bam lost all my best weaps and armour. but i count myself lucky that i was hacked when my best armour was full rune and full mystic. a friend of mine was hacked for pretty much his whole bank by the old admin of our clan he hacked the 3 strongest people of the clan one of them was an admin and was able to trace the ip address bak to him. dukemaskot23 Posted April 21, 2006 Share Posted April 21, 2006 the only thing i lost was about like 10k gp and varous raw materials so prolly like 100k worth of stuff but that was from a kid i knew, and i told him my pass so he could give me stuff.( i was like lvl 50 something at the time) i couldnt proceed to beat the living [cabbage] out of him cuz his dad is friends with my dad, so..... i couldnt do anything but thankfully ive never been hacked by a method using keyloggers or viruses and all that stuff. i use bank pin and i prolly got the best online, and virus protection service that money can buy, lol Which FF Character Are You? Jimmy_Kak Posted April 21, 2006 Share Posted April 21, 2006 I got hacked in the middle of 2005. someone must have got a keylogger on my computer somehow, i never went on sites apart from tip it. my brother played runescape and i think he must have gone to a bad site. I lost my green party hat, mask set and my 4 santas. These were my main losses, and the total value of my loss (in July 2005), was around 75 mil and with rare prices today it would have been worth around 180mil =S. As well as that i lost my character for about 5 months. Finally got him back and i had 15 blood runes and some of the seeds that i had thieved. I was happy that i got my character back, because i had started him in jan 2002. Im gradually building my bank back up and i now have a net value of around 40mil, i have never merchanted, just done from skills.
