April 20, 200620 yr NOTE: before you start complaining and saying "your only quiting because you died or something..." i am not quiting because of that :) i am quiting because i have gotten bored of runescape and i miss the good ol' days before castlewars and slayer/farming (i know, i have been playing since sept 2004 but i quit for a year and came back sept 2005) when there was a much better community with much less scammers and macroers. :( so i've got bored and made up my mind :) i might come on a little bit just to check on new updates and to talk to my friends :D but other than that farewell i'll miss you guys here at tip.it 8)

April 20, 200620 yr The community has pretty much been this way since the begginning of rs. People have been finding ways to cheat in video games for ever. The only reason you think the community is worse these days is because you never really thought about the community back in the days when u were concentrating on killing a chicken, and harly interacting with other individuals. Now you have more interaction, you run into a small percentage of the population that are scammers/jerks/hackers and you think the community is terrible. Tell you what, sure their are a lot of younger kids playing after miniclip. But at the same time, mini clip has brought older kids to runescape also. Thats my 2 cents on that issue, i am sick of ppl saying that the "Community" is getting "Worse"

Ever since I started the game, which was sometime in 2000, there were plenty of scams. "Free armor upgrades", "Truth tests", and other common ones like "Jagex blocks your password, look! ***" and "Can I see what I hit with that weapon, just 1 monster please?" Just because the community was a lot smaller back then, doesn't mean that there were no cheaters and/or scammers. Also, try to name 1 game where there are no cheaters.
April 21, 200620 yr Author yeah alot of you are right anout there being scammers when i started but i guess when i was scammed then i might have been scammed out of some nooby stuff so thats why i don't think much of it now and forgot about it.

It's easy to sit on these forums and rant about how bad the community is, but when you actually stop and play the game, it's not that bad. My two cents. Every time someone quits the game, he says that the community has gone worse. I have been playing since year 2001, and we have always had scammers and cheaters. And with player moderators I think Jagex has even decreased the number of scammers and cheaters in the game. The community is as good as ever. I don't see how anyone can possibly argue that point. When you're sitting in Varrock literally watching people macro... you KNOW the community has hit an all time low. This new fix might change things, but for how long is the question really. So yeah... take the two cents and the 2 thousand dollars back. Because you're wrong. :P R.I.P Shiva

Because you're wrong. :P Not that this is the thread to argue this, but scamming and macroing are different things. Rsc had autoers just like rs2 has autoers. On the issue of scamming, there have always been scammers, and the percent of players who scam has stayed pretty much close to constant. There are more players in total, so you see more scammers, like on crouded areas. People tend to overlook that even back then there were those "trust drop item" initiations for clans, and tons more examples that I can't think of right now. It's just that people naturally overglorify the "good ol days" because they generally remember the good parts and not the bad. nightshrike, I hope this wasn't from one or two incidents, because it is easy to generalize like that. But if you are bored, there's really not much to do about that other than quit for awhile then come back when things seem better.
