How do people get 70 ranging so fast????

In a huge amount of guides that I have read, it is assumed the anyone using the guide has the 70 ranging necessary to wear black dragonhide (not that a f2p could use it anyway, but I will be a member soon/eventually). Most of the combat 80+ melee people i know also have 70+ ranging. How does everybody do it? I spent an hour (edit: I meant to say several hours, 1 hour is like nothing LOL) and got my ranging from 43 to 50! Is there some secret that Im missing? Or do people just think that its really important, and devote a huge amount of time to it? I would really like to know!

im only 65 ranger so far, but there is one little creature that makes it happen, the "FIRE GIANT"

This creature has 111 hps making it 444 xp per kill and has a low defence so any type of range attack rips through it

By the way, this monday i started with 60 range and went in 3 days to 65

so far 5 fire b staves,4 half keys, 73 bloods, 156 rune arrows, and 15k in gp + more of alcing various drops

<the49ronin> O_o methinks ard is acting mighty high and pretty -.-

<Ard_Choille> I am pretty

Oh, another reason that people get lvl 70 range is because many slayer monsters now use magic-based attacks, so you need the black d hide to fight many of them effectively.

Combat 116+; Total 1900+; All Hard Tasks; (Nearly) All quest points; (Nearly) All skills 60+; An aquatic moose ninja.

Currently: Using 63 hunter to get some of those "Chins", then I'm going to range stuff down. Interruptions of agility when I feel like it, as well.

And lucky enough to get 4 Dragon and 6 Barrow Drops.

[hide]Kwimbob now looks exactly like me in real life except for hair color. Yes, this means I look exactly like the protagonist of that certain anime that my second character, Faye_V is also named after. Yes, I bought a jacket that also looks like his. No in real life I don't have a slain bear to sling over my shoulders. Yes, I'm that skinny even if I no-life it for years in basements. No, I can't shoot a gun. Yes, I can win any other strategic video game you have never played - because I probably have, ahahaha. And yes, I also have brown eyes, yet one of my eyes looks different from the other. And yes, I'm completely oblivious to the [real] world around me as I constantly engineer new solutions to daily problems in my head. When I get hungry, all that isn't food can wait. When I'm sleepy - nothing is of any priority in front of sleep. But at any other time, I never slow down. Never give up. Never Surrender. Makes for a good life.

As a F2P player, I just buy several thousand Iron arrows at a time (anywhere from 5,000-8,000) and stand next to the cow pin by the Crafting Guild and shoot at the Hobgoblins on the small peninsula across the water. I'm at 69 Ranging right now (not a big fan) and it seems to work faster than you'd think.

Good idea. Be sure to collect the cow hides!

Erm...think you read wrong, they range hobgoblins FROM the cow pen.

Range doesn't magically go up fast, it takes time and effort. It's arguably easier to train than melee, you don't have to eat and theres one skill instead of three to train.

Range is my favourite form of combat, no need to eat :D

I spent a while at hill giants to get to around 64, lessers and mossies from there.

Well, it's not by going to the blue dragons with snake hides, or even up to blue hides. You need monsters with low defence. Like that guy mentioned, like fire giants. I went from 40-70 ranged on a single ice giant (also where I trained melee at the time ). Just find something with low defence, get some knives and possibly a cannon and slaughter the monster you chose.

what i love to do on my pure:

get around 15-20k iron knives (800kish).

get a slayer mission

go kill da lil ding with range

y i love it?

range goes ^

slayer goes ^

might take a lot of knives, but hey, its worth having 70 + slayer. gonna keep on doing this wit ma pure.

The stuff i get as drops easily makes up for the 800k as well.

Well at the moment i have 550k (somewhere around 535k once i take advantage of low ess prices), 50 ranging, and full green drag with maple short. I dont want to blow too much on arrows, since Im saving up to buy a drag scimmy, glory amulet, full mystic etc. once i become a member this summer (yes, Im not a member so some of these methods youre suggesting wont work LOL). So, plz give me some ideas here :?

I used a cannon in the lighthouse and got from 57-59 in less than an hour. I also finished my 164 dagganoth slayer assignment. Now I'm just waiting for my next dagganoth assignment to whip out the cannon again.

bobthesock: I'm 52 range (f2p) and I have been training on the roof of the varrock palace by killing guards. You only have to bring a little bit of food (I use trout), but if you want to spend extra time positioning yourself you can hide behind a fence. You shouldn't have to worry about killing all of them and having to wait for one to respawn because there are about 6 guards by the dummies. Also it is a very quiet place to train, whenever I go there it is usally just me.

Goals: 80/80 Range, 75/90 Strength, 77/85 Attack, 64/76 Fishing and crafting 31k natures (o.O)

I pretty much hate to range. i have not a lot of xp fot it and i takes to long.

i tried it once and i ran out of arrows real fast so and i had sent money on a bow so i kept. i tried again and same thing happened.

all i can say is that youll never see me with lvl 70 range. :(
